Pullip x Sailor Moon Collaboration: Pullip Sailor Jupiter Announced!

A single teaser photo of Pullip Sailor Jupiter surfaced via Groove’s blog last night. No information on release date and/or MSRP is available yet but my guess is she will be a January release in Japan and have a MSRP of 16000 yen (same as the other sailor scouts). There will undoubtedly be a limited version of Sailor Jupiter with an exclusive accessory available exclusively via Bandai’s shop, I assume it’ll more than likely be her school uniform but we shall see.
Sailor Jupiter
Sailor Jupiter is the last of the five inner sailor senshi to be released though the sixth doll released overall as a part of the collaboration. I honestly think they did a pretty nice job with her, I look forward to seeing more promo photos of her.

I will update this as more information about Sailor Jupiter’s release becomes available.

On a somewhat related note, Sailor Venus will be on her way home to me very soon.

SDCC Exclusive Tokidoki Pullip Super Stella

Earlier this year, Tokidoki paired with Groove to release the Tokidoki themed superhero pair Pullip Super Stella and Dal Vendettina as SDCC exclusives. Both of the dolls are limited edition, only 250 of each doll were produced (no certificate). I was extremely fortunate and able to attain a Super Stella whose box had been autographed by Simone Legno, the creator of Tokidoki. It was absolutely amazing but I was so torn I wanted to play with her but in the end I could not bring myself to debox her so I posted an almost non-review of her here. I still really, really wanted to have a Super Stella to play with so I ended up ordering another Super Stella this time via Pullipstyle.
Super Stella
She arrived last week and I didn’t waste any time deboxing her so I could play with her.

SDCC Tokidoki Dal Vendettina x Pullip Super Stella We will defeat evil with our unparalleled cuteness! Also neither of us have a feel like so.

J-dolls are back @Pullipstyle

It’s been an interesting week for fans of non-Pullip Jun Planning/Groove dolls, first JPGroove listed a bunch of Hestias doll on their website earlier this week and now Pullipstyle suddenly has a noticeable influx of J-dolls. A total of 47 different J-dolls are now available via their website which is almost the entire run, they are priced anywhere from $29 to $76 each (most are priced under $50). I’m honestly really impressed with their selection as they have some of the J-dolls that are next to impossible find like Ermou who had been on the top of my J-doll wishlist for like years as I had been unable to find her and who is now on her way home to me. You can check out Pullipstyle’s J-doll selection here.
Diana
What are J-dolls? J-dolls are 1/6 fashion dolls. They are top fashion models who travel around the world, their names are based on famous streets which corresponds to their fashion style. While they do not have an eye mechanism like Pullip, they do have inset eyes which have a wonderful sense of depth to them.
Via Appia
Sometimes when compared to Pullip, it definitely seems like J-dolls had the more interesting fashion designs and they definitely had the more unique fashions it’s awesome to such variety in a doll line.
Diana
J-doll and Pullips share body types so their clothes are interchangeable which means us Pullip collectors can totally steal their stylish clothing for our Pullips :).  J-dolls released before 2009 have the same body as type 3 Pullip and all J-dolls released 2009 or later have the type 4 Pullip body (comparison picture here: warning doll nudity!).

Pang-ju Calf-pang announced for January release

A few days ago Groove announced a new soon to be released Pang-ju via their blog. Calf-pang has a MSRP of 10000 yen and is set for a January release (February for us here in the states). As the name suggests Calf-pang has a cow theme.

Moo!

What is a Pang-ju? A Pang-ju is a small anthro Chihuahua bjd made by Groove, they are not made out of resin so they are off-topic on Den of Angels but are absurdly adorable. Not only are they absurdly adorable they are fairly inexpensive Pullipstyle has them all priced for under $100 and that includes outfit/face up. I previously reviewed Cranberry-pang here for anyone curious. We haven’t seen a new Pang-ju release since June’s Flower-pang so I am very happy to see another one on the release schedule finally.
U865_tantai_w_02
I was initially kind of taken a back by Calf-pang because I did not think cows could have both horns and udders, I had never really given the matter much thought before but I wrongly assumed that only boy cows/bulls had horns. Mr. Klein is a farm boy so he was able to shed some light on the subject, there are apparently many breeds of cows some do not have horns at all such as Angus while others are born with horns but most of the time have them removed a few days after birth. Why do they remove the horns? It makes it safer to work with/handle the cows and it makes transportation easier as well. It isn’t every day I learn something new because of dolls, I will say be very glad I’m just giving you the cliff-notes Mr. Klein rattled on about cows for over two hours.
U865_tantai_w_03
Calf-pang is so absurd that it’s actually sort of adorable, just look at those udders >_< . I’ve been looking for a second Pang-ju this one isn’t quite right for me (it’s between the equally absurd Flower-pang and the jester Pome-pang for me) I am very happy to see another being released. I look forward to seeing owner photos of this one.

JPGroove: Special Price Christmas Campaign & Hestia Dolls !!!

JPGroove has had a couple of exciting shop announcements over the past few days, probably the most exciting of the announcements is the start of the Special Price Christmas Campaign. A total of 32 Pullips/Dals/Taeyangs have been marked down as a part of the campaign, most to a mere $69.99 (some are more expensive but most are $69.99) and they are only available at their marked down price until Christmas Eve (December 24th).
unnamed (1)
The dolls in the campaign are all 2006-2008 releases but there were a lot of really nice classic releases released back then this is a great opportunity to add that special someone to your collection at a bargain price. You can check out the dolls here.

Also of note, JPGroove has added several of the original Little Pullips to their website. The old minis have become a lot harder to find over the years, I’ve been slowly trying to collect all of them and I still don’t have a complete set yet. I need to go back and order the Little Carol/Little Rudolph set before it sells out.

OH AND THEY SUDDENLY HAVE HESTIA DOLLS! What are Hestia dolls? Hestia dolls are a discontinued doll line that was previously released by Jun Planning from 2006 to 2007, a total of ten dolls were released (two additional dolls were announced but later cancelled).  The major gimmick for Hestia dolls were that the dolls were released in twin pairs, each set of releases would have the same theme but Isora the older sister wore more gothic style fashions while younger sister Ribon would wear more Lolita style outfits. They are quite old and pretty rare so I thought I should call attention to these forgotten beauties here especially since I so rarely get a chance to talk about them.

The debut set Mayutukinonozokuhi and Tachimachizukinoyoru was limited edition to 500 each and they came in special coffin boxes that well are pretty damn awesome.
Picture 1891
Please excuse the quality of these very old photos of my Hestias ^^;
Isora and Ribon

Seeing them in stock on JPGroove has definitely made me want to break mine out again and even has me considering adding another Hestia or two to my crew, Mayutukinonozokuhi for example is divine. You can check out the JPGroove’s selection of Hestia dolls here.

Couple of nude doll comparison shots behind the cut (as to not offend the prudes with naked dolly bits) for anyone curious about size comparison of Hestia versus Pullip etc

Miku Expo NY (Halloween Miku Nendoroid)

A little bit over a month ago, I went to New York to attend the final day of the Miku Expo. I had meant to write about it sooner but shortly afterward my world kind of turned upside down. Why did I decide to write about it now? You’ll see, I promise.
Miku Expo 2014
Despite my close proximity to New York, I don’t really go very often so the Miku Expo seemed like as good an excuse as any to make the journey especially since I love Miku so much . My ideal had been to attend the concert unfortunately my friends took one look at Miku’s appearance on David Letterman and decided that the concept was just too strange for them and that they were all incredibly busy that weekend. I had better luck with convincing someone to go the Expo itself at Wallspace. I decided to take my Miku Pullip well as my Miku Funko Pop with me for any photo opportunities that might come my way during my trip to New York and I’m glad I did because I definitely had fun taking photos.

Pullip Sailor Mercury

This is truly the year of a Sailor Moon’s rebirth, we not only got a new television series the classic series has started being released on blu-ray and there has been so much new merchandise it is downright overwhelming especially after years of practically nothing new this is a great time to be a fan of Sailor Moon. One of the most exciting new collaborations to me, that have come as a result of the resurgence of Sailor Moon  is the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration.

Sailor Mercury is the second doll released in the Sailor Moon x Pullip line, the first doll released in the line was of course the one named Sailor Moon whose review you can check out here. It is somewhat of a coincidence that Sailor Mercury was the second doll to be released in the line as she was also the second Sailor senshi introduced in the anime/manga series. Sailor Mercury was released in late October (November for us here in the states) and has a MSRP of 16000 yen. There is also a Bandai Exclusive bonus version of Sailor Mercury that includes her school uniform in addition to her sailor senshi outfit which has a MSRP of 19000 yen. I recently acquired Sailor Mercury via JPGroove .

Various Pullip News Updates (Sailor Moon x Pullip etc)

P139_tom_06

  • More pictures highlighting Princess Serenity and Sailor Venus surfaced via Groove’s blog last night.
  • Pullipstyle has opened up preorders for Sailor Mars, she is priced at $135 and is due for a January release.
  • JPGroove has also opened up preorders for Sailor Mars as well as Princess Serenity; Mars is due for a January release and is priced at $145.95  and Princess Serenity is due for a late December release and is priced at $159.99
  • JPGroove now has little Pullips/Dals/Byuls back on their website, they have a pretty good selection including some of the older minis which are very hard to find these days. Very tempted to snatch up some of the older ones I’m missing.
  • It seems a bit strange to me that we have not heard anything about Doll Carnival yet. Doll Carnival is an annual event put on by Jun Planning/Groove in Japan every year that normally happens some time between mid-November and late December. Doll Carnival is normally exciting because prototypes of possible future releases are displayed and there is a limited edition exclusive doll such as the original Dal Jouet or Pullip Isolde.
  • I have acquired a copy of Dolly Japan Volume 2, I will be sharing some photos from it here in the next few days.
  • The recently arrived Pullip Sailor Mercury will be the next doll reviewed here, she will be followed by Pullip Hina Ichigo… after that, I’m not sure I did recently acquire a second Super Stella Pullip so I have one to debox/photos, plus La Robe Vert Clair, Aurora and a few others have been on the backburner for a while.
  • I’m sorry that my updates have become a bit infrequent recently but I have stuff going on my personal life right now so I don’t have as much time to focus on dolls as I normally do, my sister-in-law Chelsea Bruck is still missing and that situation still consumes a lot of my time.

Sailor Mars Pullip announced for December Release

Groove finally released more photos as well as details about the upcoming release of Pullip Sailor Mars via their blog. She is set for a December release in Japan, which means unfortunately we will not see her until January here in the US. Sorry Rei you won’t be home in time for Christmas!
Sailor Mars
Sailor Mars is priced at 16000 yen. So far she is the only doll announced for a December release in Japan, I wonder who else we will see this month probably not another Sailor Moon character but maybe another from the Rozen Maiden collaboration line or ::gasp:: maybe something designed by Groove…. dare I hope for a Dal?
Scouts Group
I really feel like each release in the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration is consistently getting stronger, I’ve still only got Sailor Moon so far myself but I look forward to eventually adding the rest of the girls to my collection as well (though I’m still undecided about Princess Serenity).
