A couple of very quick Pullip-related announcements…

The MIO(Make It Own) Pullip and Taeyang kits are now in stock on Pullipstyle but they are extremely popular, if you want one don’t hesitate this will sell out very quickly. The MIO kits are blank doll kits ideal for customization.
Pullips Nana-chan and Princess Serenity as well as Taeyang Mi-chan have arrived at Pullipstyle but due to an unprecedented amount of preorders for them, they are still working on fulfilling/packing all the preorders before opening up orders for them hopefully on Friday.
Tonight is the last night for the free shipping within the US promotion at JPGroove, it’s especially awesome if you just want to order something on the small side like a mini Pullip or an outfit set.

Sailor Jupiter is now available for preorder via JPGroove

JPGroove has listed the sixth doll in the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration, Sailor Jupiter up for preorder on their website. Sailor Jupiter is the final member of the inner senshi to be released in doll form. She is priced at $145.95 and if you order within the next day you still qualify for the extended free shipping promotion from Christmas (good until 12/31). The free shipping promotion is good on virtually anything on their site including preorders, I used the promotion to get a number of the older mini Pullips that I didn’t have yet (I have been very slowly collecting the entire series of the older mini Pullips).

Review of the Angelic Pretty Chess Chocolate Mint doll case

The Angelic Pretty Chess Chocolate Mint doll case is a splendid display piece. Made of sturdy cardboard, it looks spectacular when paired with a doll in an Angelic Pretty outfit.

I received a case from Groove USA to review. I had not seen one in person before. The case is a Gothic and Lolita Bible production Angelic Pretty collaboration.

The chocolate and mint color combination (one of my favorite color combos) is beautiful, as are the chocolate, chess, and ribbon accents inside and out. The seat has a strap for holding a doll in place. The seat can be removed from the case, and the seat and armrests open up for storage. There is a mirror opposite the seat and a detachable bar above the seat in case you want to hang dresses in it instead of seating a doll.

While I do not think the case would hold up to heavy use as a carrying case, the quality is actually better than I expected for a cardboard case. The clasps are metal and sturdy. The strap comes packaged separately and clicks on.

The case would be great for gently carrying one doll to a meet or for displaying at home with the Angelic Pretty collaboration dolls from Groove. If I were to take it somewhere, I would probably carry it in its cardboard shipper until I reached my destination.

It’s really the perfect size for a Dal doll!

Angelic Pretty Chess Chocolate Mint Pullip Doll Case

Angelic Pretty is a clothing company specializing in lolita clothing, Groove has collaborated with them to release a number of dolls wearing miniature versions of real Angelic Pretty designs over the years. Angelic Pretty collaboration dolls include Pullips Sfoglia & Prupate, Dals Maretti, Joujou & Chantilly and Byuls Cocotte & Sucre as well as two fashion sets Decoration Dream Sax Version Set & Sugary Carnival Black Version. A few years ago, Groove collaborated with Angelic Pretty to release a carrying case designed for Pullips. The original MSRP for the carrying case was 9030 Yen.

JPGroove recently listed a number of older yet awesome items on their website for very nice prices including the Angelic Pretty Doll Case, it is priced at $59.99 and their free shipping within the US special has been extended through New Year’s Eve. JPGroove sent me one of the doll cases to review here as there was unfortunately not a whole lot of information about the case or owner photos of it.

I had a few lovely assistants volunteer to help me review the case, my primary assistant is Pullip Canele. While she is not an Angelic Pretty collaboration doll, she is quite lovely.

Rozen Maiden x Pullip- Rozen Maiden Case

JPGroove recently listed the Rozen Maiden display case for Pullips on their website, it was released about six years ago to coincide with the release of the original Rozen Maiden x Pullip series. It is quite hard to find now so I was quite surprised to find it for sale again especially at a bargain price. Since this is kind of a rare item, I thought the sudden availability seemed like a good excuse to take photos of mine especially since I apparently have not taken any photos of mine in several years. I bought mine from HLJ many years ago and paid around $50 just to ship it as it weighs nearly 4 kilograms. The design of the case is recreation of the Rozen Maiden dolls’ case in the anime/manga, it has been very faithfully recreated.

The case is quite large (17 inches x 5 inches x 12.7 inches), I’ve used it for my Volks SD Suiseiseki before. This thing is incredibly well built, the outside is made of faux leather and it is fully lined.

With less dolls so you can see the case itself better. It should be noted that Jun Planning/Groove has stated that this is designed as a display case not as a carrying case but I’ve totally used it successfully to carry dolls just be aware that it was not designed for it so there is no way to secure the dolls into place within the case.

Check out that lining! Also Kirakishou looks like a sleeping angel which is a bit out of character for her.

For sense of scale.

I would totally recommend picking up one of these cases while JPGroove still has them if you are fan of the Rozen Maiden Pullips it makes for a great display piece for them. It would work equally well for the old Rozen Maiden collaboration series Pullips/Dals or the more recent collaboration series that came this year (I used dolls from the 2014 Rozen Maiden x Pullip series for the above photos). How highly do I recommend this thing? As soon as I saw it listed I went ahead and ordered a second case so I could have two of them for display purposes.

Groove currently has the case listed on their website for $60, it’s steal especially since if you are in the US they currently have a free shipping promotion good from now until Christmas Eve.

JPGroove Updates: Ai Dolls, Doll Cases (Angelic Pretty & Rozen Maiden) and MIO kits oh my!

JPGroove made a bunch of very interesting additions to their website recently including Ai Dolls and Pullip carrying cases.

Ai Dolls are small ball jointed dolls made of ABS plastic previously released by Jun Planning (their release continued under Groove), eventually dolls were released with one of four different facemolds. I have built a FAQ for Ai Dolls here previously, it has lots of information including which dolls have which headmold as well as sizing information. You can check out JPGroove’s full selection of Ai Dolls here. The original MSRP for Ai Dolls was 15000 yen, which really is not a bad price for a dressed bjd with face up but they are now priced at less than $50. As of this writing they still have 24 different Ai Dolls available (you can see the full release list of Ai Dolls I have compiled here).

I only have a small handful of Ai Dolls unfortunately I only have two dolls in common with JPGroove as of this writing (I may be tempted to order one or two more at that price). I only have Bee Balm who is actually my favorite of the Ai Dolls and has the rarest facemold only used for four different releases.

The other is Beloperone, the little court jester another favorite of mine.

One thing I must say about Ai Dolls is that of all the Jun Planning/Groove dolls they definitely seemed to have the most varied and creative releases.

Doll Cases

The Angelic Pretty Pullip Case was released a few years ago, I honestly completely forgot about it until I saw it in Groove’s recent email. The case was released in collaboration with Angelic Pretty so it is extremely cute and would be great as a carrying case for any of the lolita dolls or Alice du Jardin like pictured above.

It’s a very cute case that is both designed to be a carrying case as well as a closet, the chair/throne is designed to be removable so that you can hang clothing in the case.

Even more interesting than the Angelic Pretty Case is the very rare and sought after Rozen Maiden case, it is designed to just be for display but I have hauled dolls around in mine. It is extremely well made. This is one of my favorite all-time Pullip related things, I already have one but I pounced on ordering a second one as soon as I saw them on the website so my Rozen Maiden Pullips no longer have to fight my Volks SD Suiseiseki for the case.

Other things of note, JPGroove is running a free shipping on most items within the US special until Christmas Eve. They also have preorders open for MIO Pullip and Taeyang kits oh and that free shipping within the US through Christmas Eve I mentioned that seems to count towards preorders as well.

Favorite Ribbon Pullip

Favorite Ribbon was released alongside La Robe Vert Clair in January of 2014, both dolls were part of Groove’s first ever triple collaboration. Groove collaborated with lolita clothing company Baby, the Stars Shine Bright as well as famous models Misako Aoki and Fukasawa Midori to release dolls based upon the likeness of the models wearing clothing designed by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. Favorite Ribbon is based on Misako Aoki who is a nurse as well as a model so in addition to the Baby, the Stars Shine Bright designed outfit she also comes with a pink nurse’s uniform. The Favorite Ribbon collection was previously available as human sized lolita clothing via Baby, the Stars Shine Bright it was designed in collaboration with Misako Aoki source.

I was lucky enough to order Favorite Ribbon via Pullipstyle before they sold out of her, while she is no longer available via PS JPGroove still has one available via there website as of this writing.

With Ribbon that connects many times…..A girl can become happy and a shining princess…. Feel Like So.

Pullip x Sailor Moon: Sailor Jupiter details announced!

Groove just announced details via their blog about the release of the latest doll in the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration- Sailor Jupiter. Sailor Jupiter is the final member of the inner senshi to be released in doll form. Jupiter is set for a January release in Japan, so we will not get her in the US until February. She has a MSRP of 16000 yen. As we have seen previously with the other dolls in this collaboration series, Bandai’s shop once again has an exclusive version of Sailor Jupiter that comes with her school uniform as a bonus item the exclusive version is priced at 19000 yen and is available exclusively through Bandai’s shop here.

Taeyang Mi-chan LE Version preorder opens @JPGroove

Mi-chan is a Japanese singer, earlier this year a Pullip and Taeyang were pictured on an alternate cover of his new album at that time it wasn’t known if the dolls were just customs or if they were possible future prototypes. Groove announced the dolls as releases for November (December in Japan), two versions of Taeyang based on Mi-chan himself as well as a Pullip called Nana-chan based on Mi-chan’s cat (read about their announcement here). The Gothic Mode version of Mi-chan is the general release, the original version is the limited version of only 300. Of those 300, 30 very lucky random people will receive a doll with an autograph by Mi-chan. The somewhat unusual but also very cool thing about the dual Mi-chan releases for collectors is that of the two versions the limited version is actually the less expensive of the two as he only comes with a basic outfit.

JPGroove has just opened up preorders for the limited version of Mi-chan he is priced at a mere $95.95… oh and did I mention that JPGroove is offering free shipping for most items in their store within the US between now and Christmas Eve? Talk about temptation though I think my heart still belongs to the lovely Nana-chan.

Mi-chan is due for release later this month along with the Gothic Mode Version of Mi-chan and Nana-chan.
