Special Limited Edition Pullip Veritas

Pullip.net teased a new version of Pullip Veritas via their facebook page last night. Who is Pullip.net? Pullip.net is Ars Gratia Artis’s website and they are run by Mango Park, the almighty creator of Pullip and are responsible for designing many, many different Pullips over the years as well as the creation of Yeolume (Pullip’s daughter from the future). As a note, I normally tend to focus on American Pullip retailers here as I am based in the US myself and well for the most part with current exchange rates if you are in the US it makes the most sense to order via Pullipstyle or JPGroove; Ars Gratia Artis is based in Korea and I believe I have only ever ordered from them once.

Before looking at the new version of Veritas, we should probably take a moment to refresh our memories and look back at the original Pullip release Veritas who was released in November of 2007 with a MSRP of 10,000 yen.

Veritas was a well received release and was very popular so it came as no surprise that she was one of the first Pullips to get re-released as a part of the new Premium Pullip line this year.
Premium Pullip Veritas Deep Crimson Version was released in June of this year with a MSRP 20,000 yen which is twice of the MSRP of the original, nearly nine years later though production costs have only escalated.
leveritas2This new version of Veritas is limited to only 50 dolls, I believe she may actually be exclusive to Pullip.net it’s a bit unclear at this time as more details emerge I will update but for now they are the only store that has made mention of her and with such a tiny edition size it seems unlikely that many retailers would be able to offer her. She does not seem to have a name designation other than Veritas Special Edition if I were to name her it would probably be Veritas Black Gold version. She is priced at an astounding $405, she has the distinction of having the most expensive MSRP of any Pullip release to date. Veritas Special Edition is available for preorder via Pullip.net . She is to be released later this month (September).

Joliedoll Antique Skull Dress Set for Pullip

Joliedoll is a French store that specializes in Pullip, earlier this year they had announced that they were going to try to have their own exclusive Pullip. The exclusive Pullip was a new version of Pullip Merl in an outfit designed by the president of Joliedoll, Jolie Lenie. There had been attempts made to crowdsource funding of the doll but it seems like those attempts may have fallen through as JPGroove is now selling My Select Merl as well as the Antique Skull Dress set as separate items via their website. While it seems a bit sad that things fell through maybe more people will have the opportunity to enjoy the doll/outfit set now.
Antique Skull DressThe Antique Skull Dress set is priced at $34.95 which is pretty reasonable for an outfit set that includes a dress, headband and socks/shoes. I had the realization that the outfit set would suit my new custom Pullip by Myufish perfectly so I ordered the dress set without hesitation as soon as I saw it available. I have decided to use this opportunity to post a review of the dress set as well as how well the dress set fits on some other body types besides the Type 4 Pullip body.

Boho Pullip Taffy Announced!

Fashion is nothing, if not cyclical the Bohemian look was originally popularized in the 1960s but made a major comeback in early to mid-2000s where it has gone in and out of style again a few times after being popularized by actress/style icon Sienna Miller. Bohemian style is starting to make a serious comeback again, Mattel has even recently released a Boho chic inspired Barbie called The Barbie Doll Look! Festival version which can be seen/purchased on Mattel’s Barbie Store here. With two hundred and eighty some odd Pullip releases we have never really had a Pullip release with Bohemian style clothing, the closest we have had is the little hippie Dal Lizbel who is still available for a steal on Pullipstyle here. Pullip Taffy was announced via Groove’s blog last night, finally we have a boho chic Pullip!

Pullip Taffy is to be released in October in Japan, she will be released one month later here in the US. She is priced at 18,000 yen which is about $179 as of this writing. Like Pullip Cheshire Cat from the Alice in Steampunk World series, Pullip Taffy features the new two stage eyelids not a lot of details are available about this feature at this time. I believe the two stage eyelids are designed to be able to stay completely closed as well as partially closed but I’m not really sure, it’ll be interesting to see if it’s a completely new eye mechanism or not. P187_05_mail

Alice in Steampunk World Cheshire Cat Pullip Announced!

Groove and Jun Planning before it really love Alice in Wonderland, it’s one of their most popular themes that they have returned to time and again. Starting in 2015 they coupled Alice in Wonderland with their other wildly popular theme steampunk to release a new series of dolls called Alice in Steampunk World, it’s an interesting twist and Alice lends herself well to steampunk fashion. The Alice in Steampunk World line debuted with the release of Pullip Alice of Steampunk World in June of 2015 (her review can be read here), since then she has been joined by Isul White Rabbit in Steampunk World, Dal Alice in Steampunk World, Pullip Mad Hatter in Steampunk World and Taeyang Dodo in Steampunk World. The sixth doll in the Alice in Steampunk World line was announced last night and it’s Pullip Cheshire Cat!

The Cheshire Cat is one of the most iconic characters from Alice in Wonderland so it’s kind of surprising that this is the first time a full-sized Pullip release has been based off of the character especially when you consider just how many Alice releases have come out over the years (thirty four by my count for the full list check out the collaboration list here). The only other full-sized doll release based off of Cheshire Cat is Byul Cheshire Cat who was released as a part of the Alice du Jardin line. I’ve been hoping for a Pullip Cheshire Cat for years so I am very excited that one if finally being released! Pullip Cheshire Cat is going to be an October release in Japan, she will be released one month later here in the US. She is priced at 18,000 yen which is approximately $179 as of this writing.
P183_02_mailAs if the new Cheshire Cat Pullip wasn’t exciting enough on it’s own, her release marks the debut of a new style of two stage eyelids. My understanding is that the new eyelids are capable of staying closed in two different positions fully closed or partially closed for a seductive look, maybe? I hope more details are announced prior to her release on this feature, I’m sold anyway on her but I am really curious if it’s a whole new style of eye mechanism in her or just a change in how the eye mechanism levers are constructed.

Innocent World Dal Kleine

Collaborations are a great way to introduce people to new things, a fan of Rozen Maiden might start collecting Pullips because of the Rozen Maiden collaboration series or someone who collects Pullips might be introduced to something new through a collaboration like I had never heard of Innocent World before Groove collaborated with them. Innocent World is Japanese clothing clothing, back in 2010 Groove collaborated with them to release Pullip Tiphona, Byul Hermine and Dal Clair the trio were so popular that Groove collaborated with Innocent World again in 2012. In November of 2012, the second series of Innocent World collaboration dolls Pullip Fraulein and Dal Kleine were released. Dal Kleine had a MSRP of 15000 yen.

I recently purchased Dal Kleine from one of JPGroove‘s Sample Sales, I had originally bought Dal Kleine shortly after her release but I had split her and I kind of regretted not keeping her stock though she does make a very cute Alice Dal. I never did do a write up of her so I am going to take this opportunity to do so!

JPGroove- Pullip My Select Merl?! Jolie Doll Shop exclusive huh ?

I happened to be browsing JPGroove earlier this morning when I found something quite unexpected, My Select Pullip Merl had restocked! The My Select Doll line was created in 2012 the dolls featured as a part of the line were new basic versions of popular previous releases (with maybe some slight differences). They come only wearing a towel. They were designed to be fun to redress and/or customize so in a way they were kind of a precursor to MIO or Make It Own customization kits, you can read more about the line here.
myselectmMy Select Merl had been sold out for quite some time so it was unexpected treat to see her back in stock here. My Select Merl is priced at $94.95 which isn’t exactly cheap but she is also available in a variety of bundle packs with different outfit sets at very reasonable prices and these are just some of the selections!
myselectaMy Select Merl bundles are as follows: with the Black Piece Now outfit set for $105.95 link, with the Black Peace Now Giovanni outfit set for $105.95 link, with the Fuzzy Logic set for $119.95 link, with the Galesnjak Heart Look set $105.95 link , with the Capri Picnic Look set link , with the vest and jeans set monotone version link and with the vest and jeans set casual version link. I’m quite tempted by the Capri Picnic Look set combo but August is a rubbish month for me so many yearly expenses like tuition for my daughter’s school having been paid this month (not to mention back to school and my daughter’s birthday T_T ).
antiqueskull2By far, the most surprising thing to be found on JPGroove’s website this morning is the Antique Skull Dress by Jolie Lenie, the president of Jolie Doll. Jolie Doll is a Pullip shop located in France, they even have a physical shop in Paris. They previously announced that they would have an exclusive version of Pullip Merl wearing a new outfit designed by Jolie Lenie debuting at Japan Fest which took place from July 7th through 10th. Though it appears they attended the event, it does not seem like they actually had the exclusive at the event their pictures from the event can be seen here. I know Jolie Doll had been trying to crowdsource funding for their exclusive which they had announced back in May here perhaps they weren’t able to secure funding after all? That would definitely explain why JPGroove suddenly has a restock of My Select Merl and are able to offer the dress set separately, it’s interesting for how many bundles they offer with Merl that is no bundle with the dress set. antiqueskull3The Antique Skull Dress set is priced at $34.95. The dress set consists of a headdress, dress, socks and I believe the shoes come with it as well ( JPGroove says no dolls & shoes, only outfit but it also says the outfit set includes the headdress, one-piece dress, socks and shoes in it’s listing). The dress set is designed for Pullip but is said to also fit Dal and Byul as well, Mr. Klein has ordered the dress set for me so I will be posting a review as soon as it arrives as well as posting pictures of it on other dolls like Dal/Byul and an obitsu’ed Pullip as well.
antiqueskull1I personally love Jolie Lenie’s work but since I am still waiting on items I ordered from her etsy shop back in May, I probably would hesitate to order directly again so I am happy to see that Groove is offering the dress set for sale separately. I really don’t need another Pullip Merl, my new custom Pullip by Myufish will likely be the owner of the dress.

Update: Since posting this on Saturday JPGroove has added some additional My Select Pullip Merl bundles as well as some My Select Dal Frara bundles on their website, you can see the entire selection here.

I wrote Groove early Saturday asking about whether or not shoes were included with the Antique Skull Dress as the wording of the original listing was contradictory no dolls & shoes, only outfit but it also said the outfit set includes the headdress, one-piece dress, socks and shoes while they haven’t replied to me I did notice that they have updated the listing to confirm that the shoes are included.

Creator’s Label Pullip Callie

Groove recently released a set of matched twin Pullips named Cassie and Callie. The twins are part of the Creator’s Label line where Groove partners with different customizers from around the world to bring us dolls in that customizer’s style, Happy Dolly and Memento are the designers of Cassie and Callie. Happy Dolly designed the face ups of the twins while Memento designed the stock outfits for the twins. Happy Dolly and Memento previously collaborated with Groove before to release Isul Glen back in 2013 as a part of the Creator’s Label line. Pullips Cassie and Callie were released back in May of this year, they are now both in stock and available for purchase via Pullipstyle & JPGroove. The twins have a MSRP of 20000 yen each.
Pullip Cassie & Pullip CallieA few months ago now, I unexpectedly both of the twins as a gift. At first I thought about side by side review of them but I came to the realization that it would be a tremendous disservice to both of them and they each needed their own moment in the spotlight and that only after I have posted reviews of both dolls would I do a post focusing on the two as a pair. Pullip Cassie has already been featured here recently so now it is Pullip Callie’s turn! Pullip Callie is the twin in pink.
CallieOn a lovely day in spring…. I put on my be loved dress, wear little makeup…. Then grab my bag and go shopping with my sister…. We love to sit around and have some cakes at a cafe….. Ah! So Happy❤…..Feel Like So.

Hestia Ribon Doll Jyougan no Tsuki no Saikai

Hestia was a 1/6 fashion doll line produced by Jun Planning from 2006-2007,  Jun Planning was the company that originally produced Pullip in addition to J-dolls and Ai Dolls before the lines were taken over by Groove Inc.  Hestia dolls are kind of unique because they are designed as twin dolls Ribon and Isora, each cycle or wave would release both dolls simultaneously they would have the same theme but they would each express it in their own way.  Isora is the older twin and her style was gothic with a bit of a punk edge, the younger twin Ribon’s style tended more towards sweet lolita type of fashion. Ten dolls or five sets of twin releases were released before the line was discontinued. The last Hestia pairing to be released had a Little Red Riding Hood theme, Isora Kagen No Tsuki no Ribet (Parting of the Moon in last phase) and Ribon Jyougen No Tsuki No Saikai (Reunion at first Quarter Moon).Hestia RibonI recently had the opportunity to take some pictures of Hestia Ribon Jyougen No Tsuki No Saikai who will henceforth be referred to as Ribon for simplicity’s sake. This is the first time I have photographed a Hestia doll in at least a couple of years, so I decided to take this opportunity do a write up of her especially since Hestia just aren’t seen very often anymore which is a pity because they are really nice dolls. Ribon was released in July of 2007 alongside her Isora counterpart Kagen No Tsuki no Ribet, they had a MSRP of 12000 yen each.

Various Pullip related updates Pullipstyle/JPGroove preorders etc

General Groove recently posted some additional photos of some upcoming Pullip releases via their blog. The quality of the pictures isn’t ideal as it appears they were taken at a store displaying the dolls but it’s nice to see the releases in somewhat of a less formal setting than the promotional photos.
zhahaPullip ha-ha comes out next month in Japan, I really love her face up and eyes I’m just not completely sold on those overalls yet. 20160801172949755Pullip Bonnie and Angelic Pretty Pullip Marie are both September releases in Japan, they do not come out in the US until October. Both dolls are cute but I’m especially taken with Bonnie.
zsailorPullip Black Lady finally gets some villainous company! Pullip Pullip Mistress 9 comes out in September in Japan (October in the US).

JPGroove JPGroove has announced a sticker promotion, the first 30 people to preorder Pullip ha-ha or Dal ho-ho from their website will receive one of four sticker sheets. The stickers on the sheets are designed to be able to go on the doll’s face or body, the flamingo sticker sheet in particular is very cute. Pullip ha-ha & Dal ho-ho are both priced at $155.95 and are set for a late September release.
Also of note on JPGroove’s website, preorders have opened for restock shipments of Pullip Alura, Pullip Vocaloid Miku and Pullip Tokidoki Lunarosa all three dolls are set to be in stock late August. Pullip Alura was one of the most popular releases of last year so I know a lot of people who missed out on her will be happy to see her again, I previously reviewed her here. I also previously posted a review of Tokidoki Pullip Lunarosa here as well.

Pullipstyle Pullipstyle has announced via their facebook page that will not be accepting preorders for Pullip Alura, Pullip Super Sailor Moon, Pullip Vocaloid Miku and Pullip Tokidoki Lunarosa due to an overwhelming of preorders for Pullip Amelia (they also stated that she blew their previous record for most preordered doll way out of the water). The dolls will arrive in stock later this month and be placed up for order on their website once all of the Amelia preorders ship!
AmeliaSpeaking of Pullip Amelia, Pullipstyle’s new exclusive is still available for preorder via their website she will be out later this month. I can’t wait to see everyone’s owner photos of her!

Pullipsandjunk.com oh wait, that’s here! Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on  updating and cleaning up various portions of this site such as the Pullip FAQ as well as adding whole new sections such as pages for Collaboration Dolls and the Creator’s Label  series that include lists of dolls in their respective lines as well as photos and that’s just a few of the new features.  I’m currently up to fifty or so release pages which are information pages about specific releases including all the promotional photos, plus face up & stock dissection photos and just all the information you could want or need about a  release here is Alura’s page for example. This is going to be a very long term project that may never actually be completed as I don’t own all the dolls but I’m adding pages as I am able to. I’m still actively working on various updates so if you see something amiss please let me know!

Creator’s Label Isul Hednar

The Creator’s Label series of dolls by Groove features dolls designed as a part of collaboration with  famous doll customizers/seamstresses from around the world. I feel like the Creator’s Label line was one of their best recent ideas, the line gives more exposure to customizers and gives more people an opportunity to own something that they designed as not everyone is able to afford a one of a kind custom from some of the designers featured as a part of the line. I think the thing that I like most about the Creator’s Label line is that it has resulted in quite a bit of variety, I love seeing really aesthetically different releases and each one of the dolls seems to have a pretty strong personality that shines through Isul Hednar is no exception.
HednarIsul Hednar was released as a part of the Creator’s Label line in August of 2012, he had a MSRP of 15,000 yen. He was a collaboration with LEIN & Mitsubachi@BabyBee who is the most frequently featured artist as a part of the Creator’s Label line. Mitsubachi@BabyBee has at least contributed to eleven different Creator’s Label doll releases: Isul MAO, Pullip Seila, Taeyang Natsume, Byul Paradis, Pullip Galene, Isul Hednar, Isul Nekoneko Maomao, Pullip Kuhn, Pullip Laura, Pullip Alura & My Melody x  HEN-NAKO you can see all of them here as well as all the dolls released a part of the Creator’s Label line here.

Hednar has a story associated with him it was written by his creators’ and was previously featured on Groove’s blog.

Isul Hednar is berserk (warrior). Red in the eyes and hair is the color of Hednar’s Heart. The most superior warrior with two faces, living two lives.

Rather than a human with skin of a beast, Hednar itself is like a beastlike existence. But the headgear is of a skelton. The overall color is not the color of fur coat or flesh, but like the color of a bone left to dry out for a long time.

The vivid black used in the chest armor (chest hair part) and boots is his preference. The headgear is not meant for defense but an armor to protect its own heart. In order to regain sense after a battle, he removes the headgear to return to his true self. Although the feathers are used in battle, I think he just likes to fly.

HednarDon’t be scared…You don’t have to believe anything. This world is all like an illusion. You can see the world that you want to see… Situation Like So..
