Innocent Flowers Dal Cherry Sweet

The second doll in the Ars Gratia Artis original design Innocent Flowers series has been announced via Groove’s blog tonight, Groove has been teasing us for months with photos of an Innocent Flowers Dal ever since a prototype was first on display at Doll Party 43.
This photo was taken at Doll Party 43 and while it is not very large the Pullip we now know as Eve Sweet and then unknown Dal Cherry Sweet can be seen on display. I’m glad she will finally receive an official release especially since Dal releases have become so precious and few lately.

Dal Cherry Sweet will be released in Japan in March, we won’t see her here in the US until about a month later unfortunately. She has a MSRP of 18000 yen which as of this writing is about $154, she is priced the same as the previous Innocent Flowers release Pullip Eve Sweet. If you have not already checked out my review of the first doll in the Innocent Flowers line Pullip Eve Sweet I recommend taking a look, she was one of last year’s best releases!

Various updates (Premium line announced plus Dal Small Lady up for preorder/Isul Petit Prince available @Pullipstyle)

Groove made a couple of announcements via their blog over the past few days, the announcements were about the start of a new line of “Premium” dolls which are supposed to have nicer materials/designs than the originals the first doll in the new line is said to be a new version of Pullip Kiyomi. I’m cautiously optimistic about this, the regeneration series of dolls were originally said to be new updated versions of classic Pullip releases and well instead of being inspired by the original dolls they were more or less rereleases just with the newer headsculpt/body.

Also of note, this year marks the ten year anniversary of Dal and Taeyang maybe we will see special models to commemorate their anniversary? Pullip Ally was released to celebrate Pullip’s tenth anniversary so maybe if special models are released they would be nicely priced basic dolls. I hope Groove uses this as an excuse to release the Stepsister Dal from the Cinderella line in a different color scheme.

In other news….

The latest doll in the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration line is now up for preorder via Pullipstyle. Dal Princess Small Lady is priced at $130 and will be released at the end of the month.

Isul Petit Prince is now available for purchase via Pullipstyle he is priced at $150. Isul Petit Prince is based on the title character of the beloved children’s classic Le Petit Prince. His clothing is designed by Alice & the Pirates which is a sub-brand of Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. He is just the first doll in the series, he will be joined in subsequent months by Pullips Fox and Rose. Even though he is quite pricey I couldn’t resist ordering him, PS was only able to secure a small amount similar to when they had Alura in stock for a micro-second and I fear he will likely sell out quickly as well.

Sailor Moon x Pullip- Sailor Stars Pullips Announced!

Groove just made a very exciting announcement via their blog, Groove simultaneously announced three new dolls in their Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration line the Sailor Starlights. Based on characters from the last arc of the Sailor Moon manga as well as the final season of the original anime series the Sailor Starlights come to earth searching for Princess Kakyuu when not searching for their princess, they masquerade as a boy band (they transform from male to female in the anime series, in the manga it’s implied they merely dress as boys in their civilian form). Sailor Star Pullips Announced!Sailor Star Maker is the brunette, Sailor Star Fighter has the black hair and the final member of the Sailor Stars is Sailor Star Healer who has the silvery grey hair. My favorite was always Sailor Star Healer, which do you prefer of the three?

No details have been announced regarding their release date or price yet, I’m just praying that this isn’t somehow a three pack.

Byul Pollon

Poor overlooked Byul, she really doesn’t get the appreciation she deserves so I decided to start this year off with a review of one of the earliest Byul models Pollon. Byul Pollon was the second ever Byul model to be released, she was released in May of 2009 and she had a MSRP of 10000 yen.
PollonByul Eris had been the debut model of Byul, honestly I’ve always had a hard time remembering which one was which as I had never owned both of them concurrently before so I was never able to compare them in the flesh so to speak,  it didn’t help that both dolls had pastel colored stock with lots of lace and ruffles. The two just kind of blended in my mind under the blanket term “early Byul”.
Pollon & ErisI purchased Byul Pollon via JPGroove’s sample sale and then I purchased Byul Eris alongside Isul Milk Tea in one of their value sets a few weeks later so finally after all these years I had the two side by side so I could compare them. I have to say they are a lot more different than I anticipated! Eris is much more of a Mori themed girl and her face up has somewhat harsher colors than Byul Pollon’s. Of course, I still mix up their names from time to time I just have to keep on reminding myself that pretty Byul Pollon has surprising amounts of pink. I think it was kind of a disservice to Byul that these two models were released back to back as a lot of people ended up overlooking both of them because they appear to be so similar at first glance.
LullabyIt’s a shame that Byul Pollon was so overlooked as even if you don’t care for her stock look she has tremendous potential outside of it. This is Lullaby, she is a Byul Pollon who has been rechipped (with custom resin Blythe chips), rewigged with a Make It Own Pullip wig and redressed in the Angelic Pretty Decoration Dream sax outfit set. Of all the Byuls in my collection, she is my favorite. There are more pictures of her on my flickr.

Kuroshitsuji ~Book of Circus~ Grell Taeyang

Last night was a veritable flurry of activity from Groove and myself as a consequence! Groove has announced another doll to be added to their Kuroshitsuji collaboration series via their blog tonight. Grell will be the fourth doll to be released in the newer round of Kuroshitsuji collaboration dolls, the first round was back in 2009 and there were five full sized dolls released as a part of it including a Pullip version of Grell. Why a Pullip and a Taeyang version of the same character? Without getting into gender politics too much, Grell is a male character that wishes he was a female and they even tend to refer to themselves as a female. Maybe the Pullip version is the idealized self and the Taeyang version is supposed to represent reality? I’m not sure I have enough experience with the series for discussion ^^; . I have to say the Taeyang version seems to be much more well done than the Pullip version from years ago, the Taeyang version seems to be a much more accurate version of how Grell looks in the Kuroshitsuji manga/anime.

Taeyang Grell is due for a February release in Japan which means March for us here in the US which means that they will be released exactly seven years after the original Pullip Grell. They have a MSRP of 22000 yen.

Taeyang Dodo in Steampunk World

Groove also announced the fifth addition to the Alice in Steampunk line of Pullips  via their blog tonight, I have to give Groove points for originality I don’t think I ever expected to see a doll version of the Dodo character from Alice in Wonderland. Taeyang Dodo in Steampunk World is set to be released in March and has a MSRP of 22000 yen (which makes him 4000 yen higher than the Alice in Steampunk Land Dal).

For those of you unfamiliar with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland the Dodo is a minor character, he leads the Caucus Race where everyone wins as the participants can run in any sort of pattern they like as well as start and stop wherever they like. He only appears in a few early chapters of the book so he isn’t really as iconic as some of the other well known characters in the book that are sorely in need of dolls :: HINT:: I’D LOVE A STEAMPUNK CHESHIRE CAT PULLIP ::HINT:: but he is definitely something very unexpected.

Dal Alice in Steampunk World

My first post of the year is an exciting one! Groove has officially announced the release of the Dal in the very popular Alice in Steampunk World series via their blog.Photos of the prototype of the Steampunk Alice Dal on display have been surfacing as far back as Doll Show 43 back in May of last year, she had been spotted at a few subsequent events but no official news of her release until now! We haven’t seen many Dal releases in the past few years so every time a new one is announced it is almost a cause for celebration!

Dal Alice in Steampunk World will be the fourth doll released in the Alice in Steampunk World line, she will join Pullip Alice in Steampunk World (pictured above in the center; review can be seen here) Pullip Mad Hatter in Steampunk World (pictured on the left) and Isul White Rabbit in Steampunk World. She is to be released in February (March here in the US) and has a MSRP of 18,000 yen.

Miru_Mirt1449818387

Update: The 12 Hour Sale is now live! I have already placed my order, I ordered the Byul Eris and Isul Milk Tea Value set as well as the Giovanni outfit set. As a note, using the coupon code seems to negate the free shipping special on the US Domestic Free Shipping dolls luckily I was able to add another doll unto my order for a friend of mine to qualify for the free shipping over $175 promotion.

Pullip My Melody × Hen’nako Announced!

I apologize for delay on getting this one posted up, Pullip My Melody x Hen’nako was also announced the other day via Groove’s blog. For those who don’t know or aren’t familiar with My Melody, she is a Sanrio character. She is a rabbit but her rabbit ears are always covered in a hood which has traditionally been red but more recently it has been pictured as pink or red. This year marked the 40th anniversary of My Melody.
mymelody
Jun Planning/Groove has previously collaborated with Sanrio before and have even made a My Melody Pullip way back in 2008. The original My Melody is everything you would expect from a Sanrio collaboration doll, very sweet and innocent.
sanriomymelodyThe new My Melody Pullip is also a collaboration with Mitsubachi@BabyBee who has previously been a featured artist in the Creator’s Label line collaborating on such dolls as Kuhn, Seila and the fan favorite Alura. My Melody is done up in Mitsubachi@BabyBee’s signature style in particular she styled a bit like Mitsubachi@BabyBee’s popular character Hen’nako.
