Officially 100 days into my 365 Doll Project

100 Days ago I decided to embark on a bit of madness and do a 365 photo project based solely around my doll collection, I don’t actually own 365 dolls but the idea is to keep going until I run out of dolls. I also decided to share my doll’s profiles for the first time and well most of them are a bit demented (ex-ninja turned tabloid photographer – yep, we have one!). Although I haven’t been updating the blog with the goings on of my 365 doll project it has still been progressing. As I hit officially hit 100 dolls today I decided to make a collage and update with all the profiles I haven’t posted here already.

For those wondering how much I can keep going well so far I have featured..

Touhou Project Dollfie Dreams announced or haha I’m safe for once

Volks has released a new dollfie dream body type namely the dollfie dream sister body. The new body is approximately 50cm and seems to have been created as a rival to the obitsu 50cm body, granted it probably won’t be able to rival obitsu’s flexibility.

Volks has decided to debut the new body with new dollfie dream releases based on characters from Touhou Project. The special Touhou Project page on Volk’s website is viewable here. There is a fairly prominent note on the bottom of the page saying that the Touhou Project DDs are only going to be available in Japan (most probably because of licensing agreements). The MSRP for them is 56,000 yen each that is approximately $652 each. I’m personally not too fussed about them being Japan only as I am not really a Touhou Project fan in general,(admittedly a Izayoi Sakuya DD would have probably caught my full attention) so I am safe from having to bend over backwards to attempt to get these particular dolls. If you want them I recommend going through a deputy service.

I’m glad I am safe as I have a feeling the competition for these guys is going to be fierce. I am very excited about the new bodies, depending how long they take to come out as a separate release I may decide to use the dollfie dream sister body for my custom Elda and Freya (Chii) twins customs, I had been planning on using 50cm obitsus.

December Pullip Releases Announced- Ninja!

Asuka! Asuka! Asuka!- Dollfie Dream edition

As I not so subtly hinted in my last entry here, I have a new addition to my dollfie dream family. I had not intended on adding another member to my dollfie dream family quite so soon but I made the mistake of rewatching Neon Genesis Evangelion a few weeks back. All I could think about while I watched it was, how do I not have an Asuka DD yet? It just started as a whisper in the back of the brain when I watched Asuka’s first episode again but by the time End of Evangelion was on it was escalating to all consuming roar.

Asuka is my 13th Dollfie Dream, she hails from the ancient and mysterious land known as Yahoo Japan Auctions. I was surprised how quickly she got here but honestly, I had already bid on her before mentioning my longing for her on twitter ^^; So while she did get here quick, she didn’t get here quite that quick. I can be sneaky sometimes.. She had been on my dollfie dream wish list since my very first dollfie wish list (from before I had any DD) and had remained through all subsequent revisions.

Asuka was always one of my favorite anime characters so I am quite happy to own such a perfect rendition of her.

Even though I automatically had a weakness for her because well she is Asuka, the doll itself is gorgeous. I love her maid outfit, I do actually own the DD Evangelion School Uniform as well so expect to see pictures of her in it soon as well.

Decided to have a bit more fun with one of my Eva Unit 2 figures, I like the reversal of scales. I think tomorrow I shall take a picture of Asuka abusing one of the mass production Evangelion figures as revenge for End of Evangelion.

I borrowed zilla’s Penpen plush for this shot, while I have lots of my own Penpen plushes I lacked one that was quite as cute as her’s.

Asuka! Asuka! Asuka!

Evangelion is one of my favorite anime series, it makes me nostalgic every time every time I see it mentioned or hear about new figures being announced (which is pretty often O_o). Asuka is my favorite character from the series, she is one of my favorite anime characters period. I have dozens and dozens of figures of her, way more than I have of any other anime character.

I have a wide variety of figures of her in all sorts of different scales from 1/4 scale to super tiny.

For a long while I would buy every Asuka figure I could get my hands on, luckily my buying rate has slowed over the years after I ran out of room in the Geo Front. My Evangelion collection is so extensive it has it’s own hallway in my apartment that has been nicknamed the Geo Front.

I decided out of the blue today to photograph a few of my favorite Asuka figures. I haven’t been photographing figures as much lately in general so I thought Asuka might be a nice start.

My absolute favorite Asuka figure is my 1/4 scale Bome Asuka figure that a friend found for me languishing on in an anime store’s back shelves. It’s based on my favorite Asuka illustrations

Fairyland Summer Event and oops might have ordered something ^^;

Fairyland recently announced some new bjds, I unfortunately didn’t find out them immediately (there was some treachery involved!).
New releases include:
Minifees Chloe and Tyr
Pukifees Luna and Pong
Pukipukis Ante and Cupid 3
For an extremely limited time they have brought back the Merpukis Loreley and Poseidon. Fairyland is also running a Summer Event to entice people to order.

I swear Fairyland was plotting against me with the release of Pukifee Luna and Pong, I had successfully been able to resist the siren call of pukifee even though there was release of my beloved Ante in that scale but then they had to break out the big guns and go Alice on me. My beloved Pong is the White Rabbit while the cutesy Luna is Alice.

My original intention had been to get Pong first and then get Luna, of course I happened to be browsing Fairyland’s site yesterday when I noticed that the Fullset Luna was sold out. I panicked but soon discovered Denverdoll still had Luna as a Fullset listed. I put in an order hoping that they still had some available and was delighted when I received an invoice for her this afternoon, she is now on layaway. I have not completely given up on Pong yet though, I am thinking about ordering her before the Summer event runs out on the 17th of the month if I can scrounge together the cash.

In related news- Pukipuki Ante Pink Rose Fullset tried to be delivered today, sadly I was working so now I have to wait until Tuesday to liberate her.

Being a firm believer in dolly diversity I was happy to oblige. I figured someone else might get some use out of this so I decided to post it up here as well. 365 Doll Project Part 12

Last week started out with the Animadness meet. I went chatted with fellow collectors ended up coming home with more stuff than I left with (story of my life) and had a grand old time. Thanks to Requiemart I feel like I myself attended Puddle definitely need to get my stuff inline so I can attend next year. New arrivals this week include a Magnificent Mile J-doll (from the aforementioned awesomeness that is Requiemart) as well as my Dollfie Dream Sakura who I had been waiting for since May. I love having the security of a preorder through Volks but I hate how long the wait was.

Last 365 Doll project post until next week, I promise! Actually going to try and blog some anime figures soon as I have a few that arrived recently just waiting to be opened.

365 Doll Project Part 11

Still trying to make up for lost time ^^; Sorry I have been neglected these weekly posts.

Not really that much of note happened this week other than the earth shattering news that Papin has finally sold out (as well as Veritas and Nero) it seems Nina will be the next one going into archive. On the one hand it does kind of sadden me but at the same time there is only a finite number of Papins in the world and I knew it was bound to happen eventually. I fear I will be facing enormous pressure to break up my rainbow crew but I have no plans now or ever to sell any of Papins so don’t bother asking. The only other major noteworthy thing is that I discovered I owned the first Happy Birthday Couple and went to the Animadness meet.

365 Doll Project Part 10

Sorry this is so late, I was on vacation during most of this particular week so a good portion of the dolls of the day are actually mini pullips as I could fit a lot more of them into my suitcase ^^;

The only thing that was really of note, other than my being on vacation is the arrival of Amy and Leela. I traded my Enchanted Petal blythe for them. I named them after characters on Futurama as I am a huge fan of the show and the names just seemed to suit them so perfectly.
