Kanon figures in the snow

There is still a ton of snow on the ground so I decided to take advantage for even more photos today. Deciding to go back out into the snow also meant that I had to decide what it was I wanted to photograph. While looking frantically through my various shelves of figures, looking for what few Christmas or at least winter themed figures I had, I happened upon two Kanon figures. Ayu and Makoto seemed like excellent candidates to go play out in the snow today. Both figures were made by Max Factory a while back (a couple of years ago now) and I am pretty sure I was lucky enough to have preordered them as I don’t remember any fierce bidding wars for them ^^;

I always preferred the Makoto figure over the Ayu figure, something about Ayu’s facial expression always kind of bothered me. I absolutely adore the Makoto figure, she is just too cute.

33/365- Professional dollfie tree decorator

Darling Ryomou wanted to help out with the Christmas decorations today so I decided to make one of the pictures that I took of her today, the picture of the day for today.

You can see in the background of this one a case of pullips arrived via Fed Ex this morning, it’s bad sign when they have to shipped in cases right?

32/365- Oh Christmas Pinky.. oh Christmas Pinky

I think it’s official that I am insane. A few weeks ago, I was lamenting that my Pinky Street collection has been boxed up now for the better part of six months as I simply have no place to display them at the same time I was kind of wondering what I would do for Christmas decorations this year… Little did I know that all those years of pinky collecting would lead up to this which also indirectly means I spent over $1k on tree decorations..

This is still ideally supposed to be a picture a day but well this idea took a lot of time and effort, plus I personally think it is pretty epic so I will share some additional pictures.

I have almost a complete collection of pinky street, I think I am missing eight now.

In addition to traditional ornaments there are a few other little things on the tree that I sneaked on like the Galaxy Angel Mint mini plush.

Regardless of rarity they pretty much all went on the tree. I actually have an entire other box of pinkies that did not make it on the tree though, I spent basically all day yesterday at this and at that point I was just kind of done. Maybe I will assault the tree with more pinkies today…

My Christmas tree topper is my Milch dal, Ambrosia who I got last year for Christmas.

31/365- Nightmare Before Christmas

I said all of these pictures of the day posts didn’t necessarily have to be about dolls or anime stuff but there are actually anime figures in this picture although they are not really the focus… I have always loved the Nightmare Before Christmas film and have been steadily building up a collection of various swag items from it ever since it came out. This picture isn’t all of it, just what I had room for on the bar I also have tons of hoodys. All of my friends know of my love of Nightmare Before Christmas so when anyone doesn’t know what to get me for Christmas they buy me something Nightmare related, it works like clockwork every year I get at least one new Nightmare item every Christmas. I already got one this year even though it’s not Christmas yet I received a new Jack hoody over the weekend from a friend.

A few additional pictures for all those wondering what exactly is in the photo.. If you have good eyes you can see a Jack clock and a painting of Jack I got from the Disney store before it closed here just beyond the corpse bride poster.

A friend sent me the giant Jack a few years ago for Christmas, it was kind of funny as I hadn’t heard from him in years and then I got a fairly large package from him and couldn’t imagine what the hell was in. I was delighted when I opened it and found a giant talking Jack figure. There’s a Jun Planning Jack figure in the back I haven’t gotten around to opening just yet ^^; There are also various smaller figures, the only other one of real note is the slightly taller Jack he came with 12 other heads and those are the Jack heads seen all around the bar, when I get bored with one expression I swap the heads out.

In this picture you can see a couple of Nightmare posters including one for the 3-d version of the film, I just had to get that poster when the irony of Jack wearing 3-D glasses despite the fact that he lacks eyes hit me. The large item is actually a light box, another Christmas gift. You can also see my 1/8 scale Melissa Seraphy and nendoroid managed to stake their claim on the space on top of the light box. I initially had put the 1/8 scale on top of the light box as I was simply out of shelf space at the time but having her there really grew on me so she became like the princess of the pumpkin patch…

The right side of the display has a few more Jack figures and lots of various stuff. The large Jack holding his own head is actually a light, when on his head lights up. I also have Nightmare Russian nesting dolls I got in my Christmas stocking last year, all of my glasses from when I went to see Nightmare in 3-D and a tin lunchbox you can’t really see in the photo (it’s in the back), another lamp and even a pencil holder.

Zombukis Love You- Raffle Prize

Pbrigette creator of zombuki pullips, ran a promotion Zombuki Advent 2009 via her blog. Zombukis for those who don’t own are very colorful, abstract dolls based on the concept of combining zombie and kabuki while they are not to everyone’s tastes it can be universally agreed on that Pbrigette has some serious photography skills and awesome marketing ability. During the first 15 days of December she held a giveaway a day of various zombuki-themed items, all you had to do was comment on the entry to be entered for that day’s raffle. I entered a few different times, not really thinking that I would win but I actually won a set of two magnets featuring Zombukis Yuri and Dormouse. My prize arrived today, packed in an envelope with zombuki address labels Pbrigette also included one of her business cards (featuring Umi) and a postcard of featuring Ecila.

I was extremely happy with my little prize everything is pretty cute. I added it to my little wall of pullip on the shelving on my desk, that has various different stickers, postcards and other promotions I have received throughout the years taped on it.

Zombukis are unfortunately starting to grow on me 😦 I had previously met Cheshire before Requiemart got a hold of her and recustomized her. Before I seen her in person I was really considering contacting the owner about purchasing her but I knew she would be at the Animadness meet so I waited until I could see her in person before making that big of a decision. She was nice but wasn’t quite my cup of tea and then she ended up going home with Requiemart and getting a makeover.

It’s almost like they aren’t even the same doll anymore, I think the only part of her that remains as stock zombuki is the lower/side eye area. I liked her both ways but at the same time I was truly tempted until she was made over. It isn’t like the current owner contacted me first when she decided she really couldn’t keep her because of looming dentist bills so we worked out a payment plan for her and I am planning on picking her up at the next animadness meet or wait maybe it is :O

Snowday! Pullips playing in the snow

There is still a lot of snow on the ground from yesterday’s winter storm so I decided to not waste this precious opportunity and take advantage of it . I decided to take Vixen (Carol) and Snowflake (Winter Purezza) back outside for more pictures, and I also decided to grab Joyette (Requiemart Custom) and Emma (Hello Kitty) outside for photos.

Enough talk unto the photos- Snowflake sneaking up on Vixen..

For those wondering about the snowman he is actually cookie jar I received as a gift for Christmas a few years back, while I didn’t really need anymore cookie jars (I have four others) this seemed like a good opportunity to actually get some use out of him.

My Winter Purezza, Snowflake is actually my favorite of the seasonal Purezzas. I am somewhat shocked at myself that I never brought her outside before this to play in the snow. She was actually one of the last two pullips I needed to complete my collection and I bought her along with my Vivien, Marilyn from Bobagirl, one of my quasi-pullip idols (she had previously collected all of the pullips) when she decided to downsize her collection.

I know Snowflake is kind of an odd name for her but at the time it seemed to be the only name to really suit her.

I bought my Carol- Vixen a while ago but never really took many pictures of her. Carol is so overlooked in the pullip world, I am not sure if it is because she always seems to look a bit melancholy or if it is because her stock is downright bizarre. The bright side of there not being a whole lot of Carol love is that I got Vixen here, with full stock for a steal.

If my Jouet was home I would have taken her out for photos unfortunately she is still at Requiemart’s house while she is finishing up Joel (Jouet Taeyang), since I couldn’t photograph Jouet herself I decided to photograph the next best thing Joyette (Custom Jouet Pullip).

She really looks like an ice princess all dressed in white.. She is wearing a rather odd mix of Vivien’s (coat) , Jouet’s (bear hood), Clarity’s (top), Ala’s (boots), Raphia’s (socks + skirt) stock pieces.

The final member of the pullip snow day league was my newest arrival Emma (Hello Kitty). Although a bit under-dressed for the weather (in blythe Friendly Freckles’ stock) she had great gusto when it came time to play in the snow.

I loved how the snow looked in her mohair wig, it just had this almost magical quality to it.

30/365- Prism Ark- Priecia Nendoroid

Today’s picture of the day is of my newly acquired Priecia Nendoroid that came from my latest package from Toyslogic. Priecia is originally from the H-game Prism Ark, which is a sequal to Prism Heart. Prism Ark was later made into a rather benign anime series that was only twelve episodes long. I am not really fan of the series, to be fair I haven’t played the game or watched all of the anime but I do love the character designs. I was previously tempted by a couple of the figures from this series but never actually bit the bullet and bought any. As soon as I seen pictures of the nendoroid I knew I had to have her so I pounced on her the second preorders opened up on Toyslogic. I don’t regret getting her as she is as cute as a button, I do however regret doing an image search this morning for Prism Ark with my safety filter off O_O

29/365- Oh the weather is frightful…

We haven’t had any much snow this season, before today the most we had was about 3-4 inches of snow. We finally had some serious snow, it started snowing last night and snowed through into the morning leaving an impressive 14 inches of snow behind. Being from New England and all, I am kind of used to having lots of snow during the winter I much prefer the snow to just the blistering cold we have had the last few days. It’s finally starting to look like Christmas is going to be here soon.. I attended a Christmas party last week and they had a raffle, all of the stuff was Christmas themed and there wasn’t particularly anything I wanted then I spotted a basket that had a sleigh in it that would surely fit pullip. I put all my raffle tickets in the box for the gift basket with the sleigh just to lose, fortunately the person who won the basket came with me and they only wanted the other stuff in the basket so they surrendered the sleigh to me mwahahaha….. I have been waiting for it to snow ever since.

The sleigh is just about the perfect size for two pullips, next year by the time Christmas rolls around I am hoping to assemble a small army of mini-pullip Rudolphs to pull the sleigh. I chose my Carol- Vixen and my Winter Purezza- Snowflake as my two sleigh-riders as they seemed the most suited to the occasion.

28/365- Rin Dollfie Dream

For the first time in quite a while I was actually able to go out for a dollfie shoot today. Unfortunately it was kind of dreary today not to mention freezing cold outside so while I did go out I didn’t stay outside for very long. Today’s picture of the day is of my Rin DD, I chose Rin because although she is a favorite of mine I don’t really have many photos of her. I was luckily able to manage to get her through Volk’s lottery system, I’m glad I did as her prices on the secondary market has soared quite a bit and as much as I love her I couldn’t see myself paying quite that much for her.

I miss being able to go out with the dollfies more for photo shoots, I don’t like shooting them in the apartment that much I just don’t have the space to set them up for photos right. Especially considering the weather right now and the fact that we are supposed to get 14 inches of snow overnight, I kind of fear that dollfie photos will continue to be few and far between until the weather warms up a bit. Of course snow also means there is a pretty good chance tomorrow’s picture of the day will be of a doll/figure playing outside in the snow.
