Doll Carnival was held this past Sunday in Japan, there was a lot of interesting news for pullip collectors this year.

Pullip’s long awaited baby brother Isul has finally been revealed. Isul, was actually first announced alongside Byul and a still as of yet unseen best friend of pullip. The first Isul release is Apollo, he is the final doll in the Steampunk line.

Apollo is scheduled for a 2/2012 release but his release schedule beyond that is a mystery. It’s not known if he will be a monthly release or if he will be added into the rotation with byul and taeyang (meaning there could now only four taeyangs/byuls a year :O). Unfortunately being part of the Steampunk line means he is limited to 2000 as well as being the not so fantastic price of 15,750 yen.

He is rather pretty for a boy ^^; I am curious if they actually are giving him a unique body or if they just giving him a dal/byul body.

Other interesting news from Doll Carnival… More Angelic Pretty collaborations are on the way, this time there are even minis to match :O

I believe this set comes out in March, so obviously I need to demand the entire set for my birthday hehe ^^; Pullip/Dal/Byul are collaborations so are all priced at 13,650 yen each, I am curious about the minis though as I do not believe we have really seen collaboration minis before so I am not sure what their price will be like. Arrival- Gotham City Stories- Joker Display

I hesitate to really call this thing a statue, the boxes says it is a dimensional display piece. It’s basically a diorama of Joker mounted on a frame, you can either hang it on the wall or use the frame to display it.
The entire gimmick behind the Gotham City Stories line is that the dioramas each tell a separate story but they can also be combined to tell different or more elaborate stories. DC Direct places emphasis on collecting them all but I don’t really care for such elaborate stories myself, I am personally just after Joker and Harley Quinn. Joker is the third release in the line and he just arrived today from BigBadToyStore, Harley Quinn is the fourth in the line due out next month.

The Joker makes his joyful escape through the windows after he melted the locks with acid, with all the loot still in hand. You can still see the acid and/or Joker toxin swirling around filling the room behind him.

Joker is a limited run of only 2000, I received Joker #319. He came packaged very carefully, perhaps too carefully as it was an extreme pain in the ass to dig out all the little pieces of styrofoam from inside the display. He was sculpted by Joseph Menna, he is hand-painted cold-cast porcelain. The display isn’t very large (5.75 inches tall by 5.75 inched wide by 3.25 inches deep) but I think that it’s small size will actually work to it’s benefit if you wish to actually hang it on the wall, if it was much larger weight-wise it would probably not work out so well ^^;

Arrival- Cover Girls of the DC Universe Harley Quinn

After several delays, the Cover Girls of the DC Universe Harley Quinn has finally arrived from Bigbadtoystore. I just checked and although I hadn’t quite realized it had been quite that long I actually preordered her on 10/26/2009 so I waited over a year for her ^^;

The statue is based on the design of Adam Hughes and was sculpted by Jack Mathews. IT is made from cold cast porcelain and is hand-painted. The statue is limited to 8000 pieces. There is an upcoming Poison Ivy statue that compliments Harley Quinn but it will not be released until next year.

Doll Carnival Limited Pullips Available @ Pullipstyle

Every year, Groove Inc (and Jun Planning before it) has a Doll Carnival in the late fall/early winter in Tokyo. This year’s Doll Carnival is on November 28th. At every Doll Carnival there is a limited edition doll, for the most part these dolls have been extremely challenging to get a hold of for those of us who are not fortunate enough to be able to attend the Doll Carnival. This year Groove has decided to do things a bit differently and is allowing a limited number of the dolls to be presold so us insane collector’s don’t end up paying $500+ for them on the resale market like some of us did for previous year’s dolls. Pullipstyle has managed to get in a limited number of this year’s Doll Carnival Limited Edition Pullips and Dal.

The pullips are a set of twins named Clara and Chloi. Both girls are very sweet and seem to almost in the same vein as previous release Bonita.

Clara is the pink themed twin and seems to be the more popular of the two. She reminds me a bit of previous release Hello Kitty. She is currently available on Pullipstyle for only $92.

Chloi is the green themed twin and is my personal favorite of the set of twins. I have a weakness for bright green and it is very rarely used by pullip. She is also available on Pullipstyle for only $92.

I previously mentioned Dal Sweet Risa, a while ago but details were kind of sketchy at that point. I am not really surprised to find out she is a Doll Carnival LE, I am however surprised that they are releasing three Doll Carnival Limiteds this year though as so far every other year it has been one per a Carnival. Sweet Risa is based on the likeness of model/icon Risa Hirako who is very popular in Japan and who also apparently collects dal. Sweet version of Risa is also available at Pullipstyle at $139.95

…and yes, I personally preordered all three from Pullipstyle. I have ordered 50+ dolls from them without complaint so I have no hesitation recommending them.

February’s Pullip Line Up

February’s diverse line up of pullip and company has been officially announced.
Pullip

Jaldet is a gothic mermaid?The tail looks a tad ridiculous to me ^^; I have to say I never expected this release, I am amused with Groove’s creativity.

She is thankfully quite lovely once you get that tail far away from her. I love her intense eyebrows and how moody her face up is. She suits her stock really well (except the aforementioned tail) which is nice considering how much of a mismatch the previous month’s pullip Ludmilla is.
Dal

Ra Muw is the final release from the Steampunk! set of dolls. Of all the dolls announced for 2011 so far, she is definitely the one I am looking forward to the most.

I absolutely love everything about Ra Muw. She looks straight out of a dystopian society. The colors on her all just work beautifully together. I just hope her steampunk gear holds up better than Eos’ did.
Taeyang

I wish I could be excited by Raiki, but it feels like I have seen him before. He looks way too much like previous releases to really grab my attention. His stock does look nice but the doll itself does not stand out against the other taeyangs.
Little Pullip/Dal

If Siene was a full-sized pullip, I would be over the moon with happiness even as a little pullip I am pretty excited about her. I adore her stock and the doll seems to suit it perfectly.

I am not quite sure what Groove Inc’s fascination is with having dal/little dal cross dress, I like George as a release but again with the transvestite dal release? I do love the impeccable little stock.

Upcoming Dollfie Dream Release- Saber Lily

Volks recently announced the dolls from the upcoming Dolpa 24 in December. Among the releases announced was the Saber Lily Dollfie Dream from Fate/Unlimited Codes. I had been hoping for a Saber Lily release….

Saber Lily is 95,000 yen (approximately $1158.09 USD) which is the same as original Saber, of course the yen conversion was a lot more favorable back then. Considering how intricate her stock/armor it almost seems like a bargain.

Fate/ Stay Night Alter Bikini Figures

I have a surge of energy today, so I decided I wanted to rearrange my Fate/Stay Night figures. I hadn’t done so in a while and there were several newer figures that weren’t even on the shelves because space was so tight so I am trying to squeeze everything back on there. As I was doing so, I figured with how tight I have these figured packed on the shelves it is going to be a pain to fish them out for photos so I am attempting to take pictures of them now before I start reshelving them. First up are the Alter swimsuit figures, I think there are Sakura and Rider figures to match that I never picked up. Space is tight, I may still eventually get them though.

It’s cold outside so warm up with Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Bikini Figures

Today was raining and nasty here in Connecticut, so I decided to think warm thoughts and photograph some nice bikini figures. My Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS 1/4 scale figures from Good Smile Company were my victims of choice today.

I am on a bit of mission to start rephotographing all the figures as I become more and more competent with a camera while the 365 doll project is my primary focus at the moment, I will be making an effort to photograph my figure collection more.

BarbieCollector.com Sale!

You know what? Today is actually a really bad day but as usual I am going ahead and try and focus on something positive to keep my mind off of things so here goes.. BarbieCollector.com is having a 24 hour sale to celebrate the relaunch of their website. The sale goes from midnight 11/3 est to midnight 11/4 est and it is 25% off site-wide. The 25% off also extends to clearance items 😀 I am admittedly not a Barbie collector but that does not mean I am not keenly interested in this sale as Pullip would very much like to rock some of Barbie’s better items.

I picked up the The Barbie® ♥ Jonathan Adler Happy Chic Set as I was quite envious of Requiemart‘s when I saw it at our last meet. It was only $18 during the sale.

I also picked up the Pop Life (Red Head) as I had my eye on her for a while. I had considered her before but at only $18 on sale, I could not resist. Ideally she is supposed to be a strip doll for one of my pullips but I actually kind of like her as is so she may end up living on my other doll shelf as is, we shall see.
