Sailor Moon Pullip?

Nothing has officially been announced yet by Groove but on the official Sailor Moon webpage there was a post about an upcoming collaboration with Groove and a forthcoming Pullip release. The doll (or dolls) are supposed to be on display later this week at the International Gift Show Spring 2014. As soon as pictures surface or more information becomes available I’ll be sure to update. The 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon has ushered in an upcoming new tv series and waves of new merchandise. I’ve always dreamed of a Sailor Moon Pullip being released some day as it was one of my favorite anime growing up (anyone else remember fansubbed tapes?).

It is unknown at this point if just the titular Sailor Moon will be released as a Pullip or if Groove will release multiple characters, one thing is for sure though if they do release more characters Groove sure has a lot of characters to choose from.

Dal Heiwa

Dal Heiwa was released in November of last year, I received her as a bit of a belated Christmas present from Mr. Klein. Heiwa is part of the Creator’s Label series where Groove partners with different doll customizers from around the world to release a doll based on their creation. Poison Girl is a Spanish Pullip customizer who previously customized a Pullip for the “We ♥ (Love) Pullip 10th Anniversary Party” event.  Both dolls are named Heiwa and have very similar styles but as Groove stated on their blog “even if she uses the same dress and hairband, Dal will never be like Pullip BECAUSE They’re different dolls with a very different expression, style and design needs”.

This is only the second time that Groove has partnered with a customizer from overseas for a Creator’s Label release. It’s really nice to see different visions from around the world and see lots of customizers perspectives on Pullip (and Dal). Poison Girl definitely has a very unique and lovely vision.

Pullip Nella Retro Memory Version

I’m slowly trying to get back in the swing of things here, so I decided to post up a review I had started working on before my life kind of fell apart before I move on and focus on some of my newer acquisitions.

I actually have had the Retro Memory Version of Pullip Nella since early November but never got around to blogging her until now.  I bought my Retro Memory Nella from Pullipstyle.  Nella Retro Memory version is actually the second version of Pullip Nella released. The original version of Pullip Nella was released in December of 2011, a new recolored version of her called Retro Memory was released exactly one year later in December of 2012. Both versions of Pullip Nella are part of a collaboration between Groove and Baby, the Stars Shine Bright x Alice and the Pirates. Nella and her little brother Isul Johan‘s original designs were based on the cover illustration of an issue of Gothic Lolita Bible that was done by Mitsukazu Mihara. There were also human sized versions of the outfits produced by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright x Alice and the Pirates though they are long sold out now.

Unlike the original version of Nella who had a primarily black stock outfit, the new Retro Memory version has a sepia toned outfit with black and white accents.

Retro Nella is a bit more of a colorful girl, that much is for sure.

Tokidoki Lunarosa now available for preorder at GrooveUSA/Pullipstyle!

Just dropping a quick note her that the new Tokidoki collaboration Pullip Lunarosa is now available for preorder via GrooveUSA here. In case you missed it I blogged her announcement here, she is a recolor of the previously released Tokidoki collab Pullip Luna.
4
As of this writing she is priced at $169.99 and is supposed to be in stock as of February 12th. It is worth noting per Groove’s description that her tattoos are indeed a sticker sheet like last time so you can have some choices on placement and/or decide to stick them on another body entirely if so inclined (obitsu or maybe one of your other dolls just want a sweet tattoo too).

No word on availability on Pullipstyle yet but if GrooveUSA is getting her, it seems extremely likely that PS will as well.

EDIT: Pullipstyle has also opened preorders for Lunarosa, her listing is here and she is $144. It is worth noting that Tokidoki Luna was priced the same via Pullipstyle at the time of her release.

Lunarosa is still kind of pricey but she is a lovely doll and combines two of my favorite things so we shall see.

February Pullip Announcements Vocaloid Sakura Miku & more

Speak of the devil and it shall appear, I mentioned in my most recent post that Groove hadn’t announced February’s releases yet despite the fact it was almost February and well they finally made an announcement this morning. Releases used to be announced at least a few months ahead of time so it’s kind of odd that we are having so many last minute announcements. So far two Pullips, one Taeyang and a Pang-ju have been announced, I’m surprised to see two Pullip released in the same month again while still no Dal release.

There is no discernible theme to the releases this month, one of the Pullips and the Pang-ju are original designs unrelated to each other while the other Pullip is yet another collaboration with Vocaloid a fourth version of Pullip Miku and the Taeyang is…. well a collaboration with a lolita company.

Tokidoki Collaboration Pullip Lunarosa

Groove recently announced a new collaboration between Tokidoki and Pullip via their blog. For those of you don’t know, Tokidoki is a lifestyle brand that debuted  in 2005 and was created by Italian artist Simone Legno. A wide variety of Tokidoki items ranging from clothing to vinyl figures to purses and skateboards have been released and they have even collaborated with such companies as Marvel as well as collaborating with Mattel to release a Limited Edition Barbie.

Lunarosa appears to be a recolored version of the original Tokidoki x Pullip release Luna. Luna was pre-released at Doll Carnival 2012 before being released for general sale later in the spring of 2013. Luna was wildly popular so it isn’t that surprising that Groove would do a second collaboration with Tokidoki.

Lunarosa has a MSRP of 16000 yen and will be available via Grooveshop starting on January 22nd and set for release on January 31st. Kind of short notice about this release which is particularly surprising since we still don’t even know what February’s releases actually are yet and normally they are announced a few months ahead of time. She is already popping up for preorder at such places as HLJ and Amiami  so at this point I’m personally going to assume that Pullipstyle will more than likely be able to stock her and I’ll just wait on them.

Why I’ve been away…

This post will be a bit uncharacteristic of this blog, normally I like to keep my personal life well personal.

My grandparents raised me since I was about three years old, after both of my parents more or less abandoned me. They raised me and we remained really close even I went away to college and eventually got married and had a kid. We saw my grandparents practically every day and when we didn’t see each other we were on the phone, saying we were close is an understatement. My daughter and my grandmother were inseparable. We all went to Disney World together this past June. Even though my grandparents were pushing 80 they were still both very active.

My grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a little over a month ago, I put my life on hold to go take care of her. I literally called off of work, packed a backpack full of clothes for me and zilla and didn’t look back. Mr.Klein even brought our Christmas tree out to the house explained to the zilla that Santa broke his ankle and he would be unable to climb the five flights of stairs up to our apartment but he could slide down the chimney at Gramma’s house so we are able to celebrate a final Christmas together as a family. The day after Christmas my grandmother was hospitalized for what was initially believed to only be a few days but turned into her being moved to the hospice section of the hospital, the cancer had spread to her liver. Her condition rapidly deteriorated and she passed away early Monday morning. I’m still in shock, my heart is broken. I’m trying so hard to keep everything together right now.
Deerie Lu
The wake was earlier tonight and the funeral is tomorrow. I may not be home for at least a few weeks still as my grandfather is pretty lost without my grandmother so we are staying with him for now.

With everything that has been going on between my grandmother being sick and family drama honestly posting here has been the last thing on my mind. I’ll try and get caught up here soon but it just hasn’t been a huge priority for me and for that I’m sorry.

Doll Carnival Twins Pullips Canele & Varele now available @ Pullipstyle

Just dropping a quick note here to announce that the the Doll Carnival exclusive twins Pullips Canele & Varele are now available at Pullipstyle. They are $135 each which is a steal compared to their MSRP of 18000 yen each. If you want to learn more about the pair please read my original post about their announcement here.

canelevarele

Also of note, some new photos of the pair are available on Pullipstyle’s listings of the twins. I prefer the original photos personally (to me the colors look a bit muted in the new photos) but it is of note that the new photos revealed that the twins’ curls are a detachable element so they are of interesting in that regard plus more photos are always nice when it deciding whether or not to add a doll to your family or not.

Canele is available for purchase here.
P111_1
Varele is for purchase here.

Although I probably really shouldn’t have I decided to buy myself Pullip Canele in a vain attempt to cheer myself up, I would have loved to have bought both but I’ll have to go back for Pullip Varele at a later date and time.  I’ll be making a post some time later today explaining my recent absence here as well as finally responding to comments ^^;

I did receive Taeyang Willy Wonka, Dal Heiwa, Isul Midnight Deja Vu and Pullip Fraulein for Christmas (also 1/3 scale Azone Madoka) so expect reviews up of them in the not too distant future.

Pullip Kuhn

Late last week  I had a mysterious new arrival from JPGroove, of course it would be the mysterious magician who would show up so mysteriously. It seems, if something shows up without explanation my first reaction is to assume I’m supposed to play with and photograph it. I’m beyond thrilled to have the chance to play with this enigmatic little darling especially since she was at the tippity top of my wishlist.
Abra
Pullip Kuhn is part of the Creator’s Label line where Groove partners with different doll customizers from around the world to produce a doll based on the customizer’s design. I previously blogged about her in passing when she announced, which you can read here. Kuhn was based on a design by Mitsubachi@BabyBee x CrankyGel, Mitsubachi@BabyBee designed the doll while the outfit was designed by CrankyGel. Kuhn has a sexy magician theme. Groove previously partnered with Cranky Gel and Tokyo Rose for the Creator’s Label release Bloody Red Hood.  Honestly as much as I like variety and would love to see Groove work with different customizers, if the results are this stunningly gorgeous every time I wouldn’t mind seeing future collaboration dolls from Mistubachi@BabyBee and CrankyGel.

Pullip Kuhn is a Groove shop exclusive ie. as of right now you can only buy her direct from Groove. Mine was sent to me courtesy of JPGroove.com . She is priced at $130.

Pullip Akemi

Pullip Akemi recently arrived via Pullipstyle, unfortunately she arrived during Thanksgiving week so I haven’t had the chance to blog her until now what with slightly insane relatives being about. Pullip Akemi is part of the Creator’s Label series, she was made in partnership with Vanessa Cordero of Sheryl’s Designs.  She is a Spanish Pullip collector and has been customizing Pullips since 2006. You can see all of her truly wonderful custom Pullip creations on her flickr. This marks the first time Groove has partnered with an international customizer to release a doll in the Creator’s Label series.

I was cautiously optimistic about this release, she reminds me of an updated version of my all-time favorite Pullip release ever Papin so of course I was excited. I didn’t want to get too ahead of myself though as the last release I was super excited about Luna the Tokidoki collaboration I ended up kind of disappointed.  I’m quite happy to say that Pullip Akemi is even more amazing in person than she is in pictures and that I would recommend her to anyone and everyone willing to listen without hesitation.
