Pullipstyle exclusive Pullip Amelia preorders opening soon!

Pullipstyle just posted some additional information about their upcoming exclusive Pullip Amelia via their facebook page today, I’m just going to quote it in it’s entirety.

Our hope is to open up preorders for our new exclusive doll Pullip Amelia on our website some time over this holiday weekend! We will post to our facebook once preorders begin, we are not really sure of exact time/day yet as it’ll honestly depend how busy we are. Pullip Amelia will be released in August and is limited to only 400.

Pullip Amelia was designed to be versatile, did we mention that her hat and capelet are reversible elements? You can choose whether or not you want to show her softer side. Her bunny ears are on hair clips and can be worn with or without the hat. In addition to goggles she comes with a cactus purse.

All I can say is wow, Klein and Requiemart Designs are some very talented and creative ladies!

I’m very proud to be one of the creative minds behind Amelia with my partner in crime Requiemart.  I’ve been having a devil of a time keeping my mouth shut about her especially as the production sample has been here so I could photograph it over the last few weeks. I hope everyone is as excited as I am about her release!

Additional photos of Pullip ha-ha & Pullip ho-ho

Groove posted a few additional pictures of their newly announced August releases Pullip ha-ha and Dal ho-ho on display via their blog. The dolls have a MSRP of 18000 yen each. For anyone that missed here is the full write-up of their announcement.
2016070113362073aThe lighting is a bit weird in the photos as the dolls were photographed while on display at Animega Shinjuku Alta shop but I thought it was kind of noteworthy because the mysterious little unibunny float is actually pictured with the dolls so we can get an idea of scale. The floats are kind of on the small side.

I’m not sure if it was just random chance that one of the Cinderella Pullips just happened to be behind Pullip ha-ha or not but it certainly did not help my initial impression of ha-ha looking bit too much the Cinderella’s.

As was pointed out by a few of my readers, the rather baffling sprout head accessory is apparently actually a trend in China and was even covered by CNN. Thanks to Shuga & Cornflowerblue for the tip!

Swimsuit Pullip ha-ha and Dal ho-ho announced!

Mattel seemingly comes out with a new budget line of Barbie and friends in swimwear every year, even their relatively newer doll line Monster High has seen a couple of different swimwear lines. Even Blythe had a Simply line of dolls a few years back which featured dolls in simple swimsuits at a lesser price than normal. I always kind of wondered why Pullip never had a swimsuit release as it seems a staple in so many doll lines, especially when Pullip has had 100s of releases  now and the only doll to even come with a swimsuit in the entire line were Pullip Haute LA and Dal Tweety where the swimsuit was a secondary outfit. I had hoped that eventually Groove would release a budget friendly Pullip in a swimsuit especially with so many expensive collaboration releases this year, I felt like they could really use a reasonably priced release in the line up.
P178_D159_01_mailGroove announced a new Pullip named ha-ha and a new Dal named ho-ho via their blog last night, they are a couple of bathing beauties! Both ha-ha and ho-ho will be released in August in Japan (September here in the US) and have a MSRP of 17000 yen each which is approximately $166 as of this writing. I kind of got my wish for a swimsuit themed Pullip (and Dal) unfortunately they definitely are not the most budget friendly dolls. After the initial sticker shock kind of wears off though both dolls do come with an outfit in addition to their swimsuits as well as some very cute sunglasses.

Creator’s Label Pullip Cassie

Groove recently released a set of matched twin Pullips named Cassie and Callie. The twins are part of the Creator’s Label line where Groove partners with different customizers from around the world to bring us dolls in that customizer’s style, Happy Dolly and Memento are the designers of Cassie and Callie. Happy Dolly designed the face ups of the twins while Memento made the stock outfits for the twins. They previously collaborated with Groove before to release Isul Glen back in 2013 as a part of the Creator’s Label line. Pullips Cassie and Callie were released in May in Japan and will be released very soon here in the US. The twins have a MSRP of 20000 yen each.

Cassie & CallieI recently received the unexpected surprise of both dolls, which kind of put me in a quandary of how to go about doing their review(s). I made the decision that it would be a tremendous disservice to both Pullips Cassie and Callie just to do a single combined review of them. I will post a review of each doll separately to give doll a moment to shine to be followed by a post featuring both dolls with comparisons as well as photos featuring the two of them together to better illustrate both how well they complement each other as well as me a chance to compare and contrast them.

First up for review is Pullip Cassie, she is the twin in the blue dress.

CassieOn a lovely day in spring…. I put on my beloved dress, wear little makeup…. Then grab my bag and go shopping with my sister…. We love to sit around and have some cakes at a cafe….. Ah! So Happy…..Feel Like So.

JPGroove Pullip Sample Sale and other Specials!

I love sales and basically anytime I can get a deal on something especially if it something doll related and bonus points if it is Pullip related! JPGroove currently has some very exciting Pullip related offerings via their website at the moment so I thought I would share!

SAMPLE SALE
JPGroove is currently running another Sample Sale. What’s a Sample Sale? The dolls featured in the Sample Sale were previously used in displays at events such as SDCC. The dolls don’t come with their boxes, cards or stands they may even be missing a small accessory or two. They have been handled so I would not buy with the expectation that will be an absolutely mint pristine doll. All of the dolls I have received from previous Sample Sales have been in reasonably nice condition with minimal issues but I order with the expectation that there will be some sort of minor issue and it’s a pleasant surprise when they don’t. The prices are pretty irresistible, I’m honestly not even looking at what’s available again because I fear I may not be able to resist especially if Pullip Carmilla is still available! You can check out the whole selection of Sample Sale dolls here, it appears that more dolls are added periodically so I recommend checking every now and again. There is also a factory sale going on though the only thing available via it as of this writing is stands, so it might be something to consider if you need a stand to go with your Sample Sale doll.

OUTFIT SETS
JPGroove is also offering the new Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Pullip outfit sets via their website. These outfit sets were announced earlier this year and were previously only available via BtSSB’s website, you can read a bit more about them here . I like the outfit sets but my biggest complaint about them was that for that price I felt that they should have at least included shoes! JPGroove’s current special has come up with a solution to the lack of shoe problem and MIO or Make It Own shoes will be included for free with the purchase of any of the three new fashion sets, this is a limited time offer and I’m not sure how long it’ll last. The outfit sets are priced at $84.99 each and are available via their website at the following links; Be My Valentine ~Bless from Juno and the Aria of Bird (saxe blue dress), La Priere ~ The Glimpse of a Dream Through the Glass Window (black dress) and Be My Valentine ~Bless from Juno and the Aria of Bird pink (pink dress). I know the outfits are costly but the cost of normal human BtSSB clothing can easily run into the $100s so maybe if you collect BtSSB clothing the price doesn’t seem so bad in comparison?

I bet those beige and black boots would be absolute perfection with the black dress.

OTHER
JPGroove has listed a whole ton of little Pullips including many from the older classic line which can be quite hard to find like Little Fantastic Blue Alice, I was overjoyed to be able to add Little Leprotto to my little crew via their website a few weeks ago. It’s really worth it to click around on their website a bit as like there are definitely some hidden treasures like I also found Namu Fai on there for less than $30. There are also a number of dolls with similar themes being sold as Groove value sets at a nice discount and some sets even qualify for free shipping within the US.

Pullipstyle Exclusive Pullip Amelia

Pullipstyle has finally revealed the name of their new exclusive Pullip earlier today via their facebook. Pullipstyle’s bunny pilot themed girl has very fittingly been named Amelia. In addition to finally revealing her name, they also shared a new photo of Amelia.
Amelia
Amelia will be a limited edition doll, only 400 of her will be produced. Pullipstyle has said that preorders will open via their website for Amelia in July, she will be released in August. No information has been revealed about price yet.  I’ll be sure to update once more information becomes available!

I am personally very excited for Pullip Amelia, I am like dying of anticipation waiting for her release. I am also very happy for Pullipstyle that she seems to be well received by the community so far, everyone seems very excited for her I’ve even noticed a few former collectors I know that haven’t bought a new Pullip in years expressing an interest in her.

Sailor Moon x Pullip- Pullip Queen Serenity Announced!

Groove has officially announced the 21st doll in their wildly popular collaboration series with Sailor Moon via their blog tonight, Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity is to be released in August in Japan and she will be released one month later in the US. She has a MSRP of 22,000 yen which is approximately $210 as of this writing.

For those of you unfamiliar with Sailor Moon, Queen Serenity was the queen of the Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millennium and is also Princess Serenity/Sailor Moon’s mother hence the striking resemblance between the two. Queen Serenity admittedly doesn’t make much of an appearance in the anime/manga as she is already dead by the start of the series, she is still a pivotal character in the series though as she sets most of the action into motion. When the Moon Kingdom was on the brink of utter destruction she sacrificed her life to send her daughter Princess Serenity and her guardians: the Sailor Senshi to be reborn and reunited in the future in hopes that they could defeat the evil Dark Kingdom once and for all.

serenityPrincess Serenity, and all of the Sailor warriors’ll … your our love, so that you can be fulfilled in the future of the earth

New Photo of Pullipstyle Exclusive Bunny Pilot Girl revealed!

Pullipstyle just posted a new photo of their upcoming exclusive Pullip via their facebook page. The new exclusive is said to have a “bunny pilot girl” theme and in the new photo I will say she definitely looks the part! I’m very pleased with what I have seen so far of this bunny pilot girl, she reminds me a bit of the older releases in spirit. Not a lot of details have been revealed about her yet but it has been confirmed that her preorder will open in July, I hope her name gets revealed soon. It has been previously stated that she will be a limited edition of only 400.

I look forward to sharing more information and pictures of her here in the future as they become available.

Sailor Moon x Pullip- Sailor Star Fighter Pullip

Without a doubt, Sailor Moon has become one of the most popular anime collaboration series with Pullip. Sailor Star Fighter was the seventeenth doll released as a part of this collaboration series, the Sailor Stars are often overlooked when it comes to merchandise so I am glad that they were included. Originally announced for a March release in Japan Sailor Star Fighter’s release was delayed a month, we get dolls in the US roughly a month after their US release so she was not released here until the end of May. Sailor Star Fighter’s MSRP was 22000 yen, I recently purchased mine via Pullipstyle for $140 and have very slowly been photographing her on my back porch as my injuries heal from my recent car crash.

Sailor Star Fighter appeared in the Sailor Moon Stars arc in the manga and the final season of the original anime series (Sailor Moon Crystal hasn’t progressed that far yet). Sailor Star Fighter was the leader of the Sailor Starlights who come to earth searching for Princess Kakyuu who was the princess of their home planet who fled to earth before the planet was destroyed. The Sailor Starlights masquerade as a boy band Three Lights their music contains a hidden message to their lost princess in the hopes that it will reach the princess. You may have noticed I used the term boy band in the original anime, the Sailor Starlights their civilian identities were male and they changed into girls when they become Sailor Stars. In the anime Seiya, Sailor Star Fighter’s civilian identity developed unreciprocated feelings towards Usagi (Sailor Moon’s civilian identity) who was completely oblivious.

If you are in the US and wondering why none of this sounds familiar the final season of the original Sailor Moon anime never made it over to the US, so if you only ever watched on Cartoon Network you missed out. Sailor Moon was always heavily censored in the US and somehow I don’t think the censors could get past the male starlights turning into the female Sailor Stars. Genders or more accurately voice actors had to be changed so homosexual relationships were not portrayed in the case of villains (both Zoisite and Fish Eye were male characters in the original version but were given female voice actors in the US dub) or in the cases of our heroes were merely said to be “cousins” which happened to Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus. As much as I hate the bastardized US dub of Sailor Moon without it I and probably countless others probably would not have sought out the original uncut Japanese series. I know for me it was just the starting point it, it opened up the floodgates and over 20 years later I’m still watching anime so Sailor Moon will always hold a special place in my part as my first anime series.
Sailor Star Fighter
Enough about Sailor Moon , let’s talk about the doll!
