Isul Beary Fairy Gosomi

Today, I will feature a doll so sweet that it may just give you cavities! The Beary Fairy series debuted in late 2011 with the releases of Dal Dalcomi & Byul Secomi which was followed by the release of the super popular Pullip Kiyomi. Almost two years after the release of Kiyomi, in July of 2014 Isul Gosomi joined the Beary Fairy crew! It had looked like Gosomi would be the final member of the Berry Fairy crew for quite some time but a new version of Kiyomi was released as a part of the new Pullip Premium line.

Generally boy dolls can be kind of hit or miss with me but somehow I can’t seem to get enough Isul, he’s really grown on me over the years since his original release release. Normally when I’m considering buying a doll there are certain criteria I look at, I tend to prioritize Pullip over the other dolls in the Pullip family then I have to love the whole doll (the actual doll and the outfit/stylization) otherwise they go farther down on the wish list in the maybe category. I loved Gosomi as a doll but I wasn’t too sure about that bear suit so I hesitated on getting him. Another thing that had made me hesitate about Gosomi was that there really weren’t many owner photos of him. I was finally able to get a deal on Gosomi from one of JPGroove‘s Sample Sales. If you aren’t familiar with or haven’t had the opportunity to experience one of JPGroove’s Sample Sales it’s utter madness, they periodically list display dolls on their website at a discount and it quickly turns into a feeding frenzy as everyone tries to buy up the dolls as quickly as possible.

At the Sample Sale price I couldn’t resist Gosomi and I’m incredibly happy to say I absolutely don’t regret that decision as I adored him in person, even that darned bear suit was a lot more cute and cuddly in person than I could have ever  imagined. Since I knew that I had trouble finding photos many owner photos of Isul Gosomi myself, I wanted to make the effort to share a lot of pictures of him so everyone can see how precious he is! GosomiWelcome to my wonderful kingdom!! Whipped cream fields and a macaron forest… The colorful candies are gifts from the sky… Come on, let’s go hide in the cotton candy castle together… Situation Like So.

Frog Prince Isul Caros & Dal Dana Announced!

In addition to announcing Pullip Optical Alice, the debut release of a new series based on Alice in Wonderland Groove also announced two dolls based on the Grimm’s fairy tale The Frog Prince via their blog last night.  Dal portrays Dana, the princess and Isul portrays Caros, the Frog Prince.

The basic premise of The Frog Prince is that a spoiled princess makes the unlikely friend of a frog, she eventually kisses him or otherwise sparks a transformation (she throws him against a wall in disgust in the original, young love hehe) and the frog becomes a handsome prince.  The prince had been turned into a frog by an evil fairy (or sorceress) and now that the curse has been broken, he and the princess can live happily ever after. Sound vaguely familiar? Disney made an underrated animated version of the Frog Prince back in 2009 the premise of the story had been changed up a bit ie. Tiana wasn’t a spoiled princess and she too becomes a frog. I like that Groove is branching out and doing more dolls based off of different fairy tales like Isul Hansel & Pullip Gretel that were released last year. The characters are ones that most of us are familiar with since childhood so there is a certain sense of nostalgia seeing our favorite fairy tale characters come to life in doll form.

Isul Caros and Dal Dana are to be released in January in Japan, they will be released here in the US one month later. The dolls have a MSRP of 18000 yen each which is approximately $168.70 as of this writing.

Optical Alice Pullip announced!

The start of a new Alice in Wonderland series of Pullip dolls was announced via Groove’s blog tonight, the series will debut with the release of Optical Alice in January (Japan release date, US release date is one month later). Optical Alice will have a MSRP of 18000 yen. The Optical series will feature a red, black and white color scheme, I love the boldness of the eye-popping colors! The contrast of the bold colors and patterns almost seems to give Optical Alice a bit of a circus flair.

Alice in Wonderland has been a popular theme for Pullip over the years, it all started innocently enough with the release of the iconic Fantastic Alice way back in 2004 but since then we have seen Alice series in the style of Another, Romantic, Classical, du Jardin, Lunatic and most recently Steampunk.  I know it may seem like Alice overload to some with all of the different Alice series released over the years but they’ve all been pretty popular so I think as long as the Alice dolls continue to sell really well we will continue to get our new Alice series every other year or so. As long as Groove continues to interpret Alice in new and different ways, I know I will continue to buy as I love Alice in Wonderland!

In other preorder news, Pullipstyle has finally opened up preorders for Taeyang Albireo and Dal Deneb and they will be released later this month! Taeyang Albireo and Dal Deneb are being released to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Dal and Taeyang being added to the Pullip family of dolls, aren’t they just incredible releases? Unfortunately for them they are coming out the same month as Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World so maybe eventually I’ll be able to add them to my collection but not immediately! Taeyang Albireo and Dal Deneb can be preordered via Pullipstyle’s website via their respective links: Albireo, Deneb or save a little bit and buy the pair!

Please look forward to Beary Fairy Isul Gosomi’s review going up tomorrow, I’ve been busy!

Closer look at Pullip Cheshire Cat/new eye mechanism via Groove’s blog

Groove had announced a new Pullip eye mechanism function that would be debuting with the releases of Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World and Pullip Taffy via their blog a while back. The new function would allow the eyelids to be closed into two different positions meaning the doll’s eyelids could now be slightly lowered in addition to being fully opened or completely closed. Groove just recently announced that unfortunately Pullip Taffy would not have the new eyelid function  but that Pullip Cheshire Cat would still have the new eyelid function –link.

While it is unfortunate that Pullip Taffy no longer has the new eye mechanism feature, it is somewhat fitting that the Cheshire Cat would be the Pullip to debut this most curious new feature! Earlier today Groove posted some out of box photos of Pullip Cheshire Cat via their blog including some of the new eye mechanism function in use.

Above is the open traditional default position for the eyelids.
dscn7935Above is the new partially closed position for the eyelids, it kind of reminds me of some of the older Type 1 Pullips where their eyelids were partially visible. I like it is kind of a knowing look and it suits Cheshire Cat especially well.

I am so happy that Groove posted these out of box photos of Cheshire Cat today! I absolutely can not wait for Cheshire Cat to be released later this month here in the US. Pullip Cheshire Cat is still available for preorder via Pullipstyle and/or JPGroove (Pullip Taffy too via PS/JPGroove).

SDCC Exclusive Pullip Wonder Woman Dress Version

San Diego Comic Con or SDCC is one of the biggest hobby/entertainment events of the year. Every year, various companies showcase their toy lines etc by releasing items exclusive to SDCC it can be as simple as an alternate cover for a comic book or a toy that is solely designed to be a special exclusive. Groove collaborated with DC Comics earlier this year to release two Pullips based on beloved DC Comics characters as SDCC exclusives, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn! This is not the first time that Groove has collaborated with DC Comics, they have previously collaborated to bring us Pullips based on Catwoman and Batgirl in 2011. Two versions of Pullip Catwoman and Pullip Batgirl were released as a part of this collaboration, one set was exclusive to SDCC and the other set was exclusive to Wonder Festival (a major hobby event in Japan) shortly after. One year later, Groove again collaborated with DC Comics to release Pullip Wonder Woman and Taeyang Batman as SDCC exclusives. Just a few short months after their release the NYCC exclusive Pullip Harley Quinn joined the series, her release marked the one and only time that there has been a NYCC exclusive Pullip release (so far). In 2013, superheroine Pullip Supergirl released as a SDCC exclusive and when Groove collaborated with Tokidoki in 2014 to release Tokidoki themed superheroes Pullip Super Stella & Dal Vendettina it seemed like the Pullip x DC Comics may have come to an end especially when there was no exclusives last year.

JPGroove started hinting in early July via their Facebook page that they would be attending SDCC this year and that there would once again be SDCC exclusive dolls. After a bit of teasing the dolls, Pullip Wonder Woman Dress Version and Pullip Harley Quinn Dress Version were finally revealed a few days before SDCC. The dolls The dolls were available for purchase at SDCC via the Teddy Scares booth as well as via JPGroove’s website, the dolls were priced at $130 each at SDCC or $155.99 each via their website (there was 15% off coupon available for use during SDCC). I purchased Pullip Wonder Woman Dress Version alongside Pullip Harley Quinn Dress Version via JPGroove recently, I’ve already posted a review of Pullip Harley Quinn Dress Version which you can see here so now it’s time for Pullip Wonder Woman Dress Version to have her moment in the spotlight! Wonder Woman Dress VersionWise as Athena, Swifter than Hermes….And Stronger than hercules…..I am an Amazon Warrior….Feel Like So.

I want it, I want it, I want it! American Horror Story Coven dolls by Integrity Toys

I wanted to talk about something a bit different today! I love scary things and horror movies especially (just finished watching Don’t Look Now on blu-ray in fact). Last year, I was browsing Netflix trying to find something to watch and American Horror Story caught my eye. I had several friends that knew of my love scary things recommend it to me previously so I figured what the hell, I’ll give it a shot and watch the first episode… I ended up watching the first six episodes in one sitting and only stopped there because I realized the sun was already coming up oops. Needless to say I was a fan, I quickly watched and then re-watched the first three seasons while waiting for the fourth season Freak Show to start and have been watching the series in real time ever since though the current season has kind of left me feeling kind of meh (it’s kind of a slowburn).
American Horror Story Coven Myrtle Snow Funko PopThough far from the scariest season, I was pretty partial to Coven it being the only season besides Hotel my husband would actually sit through as he does not care for the scary things. Being a doll collector every time I would watch Coven, in the back of my mind all I could think about was hmm wow a lot of these designs would make great dolls! There really hadn’t been much toy-style merchandise besides Funko Pop Vinyl Figures for American Horror Story (my favorite of the AHS pops Myrtle Snow is pictured above) that is until now!
lowres_ahs_chorus-1I was elated earlier today when I was browsing facebook and saw someone mention the new American Horror Story Coven dolls by Integrity Toys. I had heard of Integrity Toys before but wasn’t really that familiar with them other than knowing that they had a license for Jem and the Holograms dolls and dolls based off of characters from My Little Pony. Not really being familiar with the brand or even where to buy them I went to the brand’s    website and saw that Fabricfriendsanddolls was one of their dealers, I’ve bought bjds several times through Fabricfriendsanddolls and have always been very happy with their service so I was happy to find a trusted source to buy from!

Latidoll BJD order arrival

I know it may not seem like it sometimes but I do collect dolls other than those made by Groove. I’ve been collecting ball jointed dolls or bjds since early 2008 when Fairyland debuted their Littlefee line and I fell head over heels for Ante since then I have acquired a small army of mostly tiny bjds (those under 30cm). One of my favorite bjd companies is Latidoll they make absurdly cute tiny dolls and I’m addicted to the sweet pitch of their siren’s call.

Unlike most bjd companies, Lati is not continually open for orders normally they have maybe four limited events a year where they have orders open for a few weeks for a series of limited dolls. Normally they open orders for basic dolls for a week or two following the event. Additionally sometimes dolls are made exclusively for doll events/doll parties. Last fall, Lati announced a Cinderella event including Lati White SP Haru based on Cinderella’s mouse friend and well this picture did me in, I had to order her! Ordered!I placed my order for Lati White SP T. Haru on 10/16/2015 and so began my wait, bjds are made to order and production normally takes some time. Most companies like Luts normally have a three to four month turnaround time, Lati is notorious for their wait times. In the past I have waited as long as ten months for my Latidoll orders but most of the time I had my order within eight months which is still pretty ridiculous. I started getting antsy last month when I still hadn’t heard anything about my order, I wrote them on their q and a board and was told my order would ship early October. Early October came and went so I wrote them again last week, they finally shipped me my order. I received my order on 10/19/2016 over one year after I placed it.

December Releases Taeyang ReonHARDT & Pullip Katrina announced!

Earlier this morning, Groove announced two new upcoming releases via their blog. Pullip Katrina and Taeyang ReonHARDT are to be released in Japan in December but will not be released until one month later here in the US. Their MSRP is 18000 yen each which is approximately $172 as of this writing. Now that the basic release information is out of the way let’s take a closer look at the dolls!
p193_t259_10_mail-1
My first thought when I saw these two was they look like they are ready for a party, a Gatsby party in particular! The Great Gatsby was all about decadence and excess in the 1920s, while these two dolls are original designs the 1920s influence on their clothing style is easy to see. The dolls definitely embody decadence especially Katrina with her fur lined coat (hopefully faux fur!). The 1920s were a really great time period with amazing outfit designs so I love that Groove is releasing dolls based on it.

Dal ho-ho

I had every intention of posting the review of SDCC Exclusive Pullip Wonder Woman Dress Version next but then Dal ho-ho arrived last week and I had so much fun photographing her that I decided to post her review first.
DaytonaMany dolls lines release swimsuit themed dolls on a nearly annual basis, every summer a new series of swimsuit dolls get released with a slightly different theme than last year’s. The swimsuit dolls are normally come with a swimsuit and maybe a beach themed accessory or two, they are normally priced much cheaper than other dolls in the line. Not many swimsuit themed Pullips have been released over the years, off the top of my head Pullip Summer Purezza is probably the closest thing we’ve had to a swimsuit release up to this point but her release was over ten years ago and she was limited to 500, Dal Tweety comes with a bikini but it’s inclusion in her stock almost seemed like an afterthought and she was released in 2008 so just shy of ten years ago.

Pullip Summer Purezza                              Dal Tweety

Earlier this summer, Groove announced the forthcoming releases of Pullip ha-ha and Dal ho-ho. Both dolls came with a swimsuit bikini as well as a cover-up outfit as well as sunglasses and float accessories, finally we have some swimsuit releases! The pair were released in August in Japan but released one month later here in the US. The MSRP for each of the dolls is 18000 yen, I preordered my Dal ho-ho via Pullipstyle where she was priced at $120 plus however much shipping was.

Let’s all take a closer look at ho-ho!
