Arrival- Lati Yellow Happy Bath Lumi BJD

I remember when we ordered Happy Bath Lumi joking about how even though she was being ordered in early December as an early Christmas gift, she more than likely would not be showing up until my birthday in late March. Guess who arrived the day after my birthday? Happy Bath Lumi, that’s who.

Happy Bath Lumi is a Lati Yellow bjd made by Latidoll, she was apart of the Happy Bath special release series of Latis. She and her two companions Benny and Bayer were available for sale from November 16th through December 7th. As a bonus, the first twenty five people to order a doll during the Happy Bath event received a free random bonus cat (pictured above) .

Hyakka Ryouran Yagyu Jubei 1/8 Alter Figure & Nendoroid

After visiting Anime Castle recently, I decided to splurge and buy some new anime figures as it’s been a while since my last major figure haul ie. Anime Boston last year. I primarily focused on buying new nendoroids and figmas as well as anything from Puella Magi Madoka Magica I could get my hands on but I also decided to track down a figure I had been wanting for quite some time that had somehow slipped through my grasp until now. The figure in question is the lovely Alter 1/8 scale Yagyu Jubei from Hyakka Ryouran, I had been lusting after her since her announcement but somehow never managed to get my hands on her until now.

Although the 1/8 Alter figure eluded me, I did manage to get my hands on the nendoroid of Yagyu Jubei during the fall of 2011 via Animadness. Since I don’t think I ever shared pictures of the nendoroid here before, I decided to focus this post on both my newly acquired Alter figure as well as the nendoroid.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Kyoko Sakura Nendoroid

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is hands down my favorite anime that was released in the past five years. Madoka came to me at the perfect time, I was definitely losing interest in pretty much all newer anime and Madoka was such an unexpected delight that it renewed my interest in anime a bit and got me watching anime again.

I don’t collect anime figures as much these days but I find it pretty much impossible to resist figures from Madoka. I recently decided to splurge a bit and bought some new Madoka figures including the nendoroid (as well as the figma) of Kyoko.
I have no regrets on my splurging especially on Kyoko as she is absolutely fantastic, the details on her are phenomenal.

DC x Bishoujo Huntress Figure

Normally, I’m more of a fan of the villains than of the heroes but Huntress is one of the few heroes that I actually like so I was very excited when it was announced that a figure of her would be included in the DC x Bishoujo line. I was especially excited about this figure as Huntress tends to be overlooked figure-wise a lot, only a handful of statues and figures of her have been released over the years.

Huntress arrived alongside some other stuff from BBTS early last week, I finally got a chance to photograph her yesterday… I’ll get to the other stuff eventually I promise.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko Erio Petit Nendoroid

After visiting Anime Castle in New York recently and seeing so many anime figures, well I kind of got the itch to get some new figures. My last major anime haul was Anime Boston 2012, so I was kind of overdue for some new figures so I did some shopping online and the resulting package arrived today.

The first figure I decided to play with was the petit nendoroid of Erio from Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. I just recently rewatched the series and well seeing how it is one of the very few newer anime series that I actually like, I just couldn’t resist picking this adorable figure of Erio when I saw it.

Code Geass: Chibi Arts CC Figure

Recently, we made a rather unexpected trip to New York while we were there we finally the opportunity to visit AnimeCastle‘s physical store location. I am still mourning the loss of Animadness, which had been my somewhat local source of anime figures so I was pretty excited to visit a shop that specialized in anime again. I was fairly impressed with Animecastle’s store, they had a fair selection of figures unfortunately not many nendoroids which tend to be my favorites these days.

I ended up buying various merchandise from Puella Magi Madoka Magica plus the first two volumes of it’s manga. I also bought the special edition of the “Ground Control to Electric Girl” (Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko) tv series as well as this cute CC figure from Code Geass.

Latidoll Bat Child Event

Latidoll announced a new event recently, the theme is Bat Child. The Bat Child event is the third set of Lati Yellow vampires released so far, this set is quite possibly the most ambitious of the vampire sets released so far. There are six different dolls Baro (Haru), Banya (Rumi), Batan (Ruki), Bari (new sculpt Noa), Bato (SP Coco) and Bati (SP Lea). Each of the dolls are available in two skintones normal and tan and are also available in two headmolds open eyed mold and mystic (half closed eyes) meaning there are a lot of options this release. The only problem with so many options besides deciding just who to order is that there will no doubt be delays in the production and well Latidoll is already notorious for delays in production…. so the vamps will no doubt take a long while to actually arrive.

As a bonus, the first twenty customers to order will receive a paper coffin and anyone ordering within the first week will receive a free blank Suji event head.

Gosick Victorique de Blois Pullip

Victorique de Blois was another of my Groove Lucky Bag purchases. I have been wanting her for quite some time but had not gotten around to getting her quite yet so I was excited I was able to get her for a bit cheaper than usual.

Victorique de Blois is from the Gosick anime/manga/light novel series, she is the enigmatic, sharp-tongued, mystery solving heroine of the series. I admit that I have not watched the anime yet, I have been actively avoiding it ever since I found out there was a Volks Super Dollfie from the series that is incredibly gorgeous and would no doubt be absolutely irresistible if I fell in love with the show much to the chagrin of my wallet.

Black Jack Byul Pinoko

I eventually ended up going back and ordering a second lucky bag through Groove’s recent lucky bag event. My intention was to just get Tomoe Mami as well as a doll for a friend, when I went to order though I realized I had never really seen any owner photos of Byul Pinoko. While Byul Pinoko had always been kind of low priority on my wishlist, I had been admiring her since she was announced when I found out she didn’t really have any owner photos…. I knew I had to remedy that.
Pinoko is a character from Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack, which followed the title character’s medical adventures. Pinoko’s backstory is a bit bizarre, she was a parasitic twin living inside her twin sister for the first 18 years of her life before being removed and then given a plastic exoskeleton by Black Jack. She has a childlike form and demeanor. Eventually she comes to live with Black Jack and becomes somewhat of a surrogate daughter to him. Oh my goodness!
