81/365- BJD FL LTF Bisou

My Littlefee Bisou actually arrived last week but I have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to blog her yet. There was a slight complication with her when she first arrived, I somehow got the boy version’s hoody instead of the one it was supposed to go with but I emailed Denver Doll and they sent me the right one that day. I ordered her with beautiful white skin thinking that is what my Littlefee Ante had but after further review it has become apparent that Ante has a natural skintone not the beautiful white skintone. I was rather shocked to open her box and see just how pale she was, I was so shocked I actually thought about selling but she has grown on me quite a bit so it appears she is staying.

I decided to name her Honey Child, my great grandmother used to call me that when I was little (she has since passed on). I thought the name fit her pretty well.

Pullip Updates

Papette the custom dal Papin by Requiemart is finally complete. I am very happy with her, she is a bit paler than Papin but that is only because I wanted her omg now instead off waiting on the possibility that a darker dal would be released. Her name is going to be Tangerine and I am planning on making her into a mini Clementine, as Clementine is my favorite of all my dals. I had a Papin named Tangerine already but there was a slight mix-up and everyone thought Papette’s name was going to be Tangerine and well quite a few people are already calling her Tangerine so I am just going to give into the peer pressure and name her Tangerine. The actual pullip Tangerine will henceforth be known only as Tangent anyone who knows me irl can vouch for my ability to go on completely unrelated tangents at the drop of a hat.

I will be probably be picking Tangerine up either this weekend or next weekend depending upon whether or not Animadness is open on Monday (I’m busy Saturday plus I have plans on Valentine’s Day plus they are closed on Sundays anyway) and if they have the vampire pullip/dal/taeyangs in stock yet. Requiemart’s house isn’t too far away from Animadness so I am planning on making the most I can out of one trip.

In other exciting pullip news, I have an Arion and a Youtsuzu on the way from VOTD‘s latest OOB sale. Arion has a broken arm but I am fairly certain that it is completely repairable as the taeyangs have a kind of weakness that makes it easy to pop their arm off (all you have to do to fix it is pop it back on) and from the owner was telling me that is really what sounds like the problem is. I have been wanting Arion since he was announced but I have a harder time justifying the taeyangs. I am very excited about him especially since he is the last of the H.Naoto dolls I don’t own. Youtsuzu has a damaged eye mechanism, she was released fairly shortly after the sleep eye function started coming on all the pullip releases so I am kind of thinking someone might have just got one of her eyes stuck close via the sleepy eyes and didn’t know how to fix it or realize that it was not a sign of the doll being broken worse case if that is not the issue I can take apart her head and still find a way to make it work (absolutely worse case I can always install acrylics). I had been looking at a lot of owner photos of her lately and was kind of torn as I love her as a stock doll but I also love her redressed/rewigged so now I will have another one to play with.

I did preorder this month’s pullip-Chelsea but Pullipstyle was already sold out of Phoebe the dal, so I will have to wait for her to restock to get her or order somewhere else in the meantime.

I vaguely remember promises to keep the numbers under control this year but at the rate I am going I will hit 250 in no time ^^; . It is not even half way through February yet and I currently have 227 pullips/dals/taeyangs (165 pullips, 48 dals, 13 taeyangs and 1 namu) and I am already expecting 6 more by the end of the month (Pullips- Youtsuzu, Sfoglia, Chelsea & Elisabeth, Dal- Papette, Taeyang- Arion) so that is 233 by the end of Feb. I really need to go on a dolly diet it seems, in my defense I did actually trade away a doll towards custom work and I gave away a mini pullip so far this year… so there has been some attempt to cull the numbers ^^;

79/365- New arrivals comics and bjd

I got a few comics including the hardbound The Joker’s Greatest Stories Ever Told as a gift earlier in the day yesterday, of course this sparked a trip to my local comic book shop Arkham Asylum to buy more comics. Arkham Asylum’s new location is literally a mere four minute drive from my apartment so I have a hard time resisting the temptation to pop in and buy comics ^^;.

– The Joker’s Greatest Stories Ever Told- I have only leafed through this one so far, it is literally over 20 years old but I absolutely love it. The pulp comic feel of the pages is just amazing and for it’s age it is actually in really good condition. They are all obviously older Joker stories but it is kind of nice to see some of the classics, I find it somewhat hilarious that their is mention/discussion of the upcoming Tim Burton’s Batman and Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of Joker.
-Birds of Prey- Issue 121- I have never read any Birds of Prey comics so it should kind of be interesting.
-Batman Annual 27 & Detective Comics Annual 11- I actually rather like Azrael, my first encounter with him was during No Man’s Land but I have since read all of the Knightfall saga (had the order of their reading been reversed I doubt I would have been so keen on him though) I am pretty sure this isn’t that Azrael though but the third ghost of Batman out of the newer Batman & Son comics. It’s the thought that counts I guess and I do love the chibi Batman comics.

Stuff I bought at Arkham Asylum
– Gotham City Sirens Issue 8- This is the only one I actually got around to reading last night, it was pretty decent for a Gotham City Sirens comic and is probably one of the few Ivy centric comics I have really liked so far. I really love the mixture of Harley Quinn and Ivy, I adore Harley Quinn on her own but comics focused on just Poison Ivy don’t tend to draw me in as much.
– Batman – The Widening Gyre- Limited Series 1-3- I previously picked up issue 4 at the comic book shop at the mall. As soon as I seen the cover, I just had to have it. I would seriously buy the cover as a poster if I could, actually I might want to try Sarges as they occasionally get weird stuff like that in. I’m not sure what it is about the cover that drew me in.

The utter impossibility of what the cover portrays maybe I could see the Joker having Batman at his mercy and still cracking jokes though, the Joker wielding a katana, the Joker in boxers sock garters, or maybe it is the Joker wearing heels. I haven’t read issue 4 yet I decided to wait until I could find the first 3 issues before indulging. I will probably read through all of them tonight, although it being by Kevin Smith may make me throw up my arms in frustration and make me put it down after the first issue as I am not the biggest Kevin Smith fan but if there is Joker content I will get through it somehow (I have the goal of reading every comic featuring Joker needless to say long-term goal).

And of course the final item in the picture is my Littlefee Bisou who just got her replacement hoody (I had been given the boy’s version by mistake). More pictures of her cominc soon.

78/365- Dalicious/Kindle custom Leprotto dal

I haven’t had the time to keep this updated as much lately ^^; I have been horribly busy this past weekend, I have been keeping up with my 365 pictures but I am going to skip two that I neglected to blog here and skip to today’s entry instead. I decided to enter Kindle (custom leprotto dal by Requiemart) in Dolly Market’s photo contest Dalicious. I am normally not so keen on contests, so I normally don’t enter in them but I participated in the first two rounds so I figured I would join up this round as well. First round, I entered with Taffy, one of my Jolies and last time I entered with Dalvam. I finished 6th out of 32 participants last time with Dalvam, I don’t really enter to win though but to have fun.

Yesterday’s official picture of the day ^ I really liked how this one came out but I didn’t think it suited the challenge as it didn’t really show her true personality

This one is my contest entry. Kindle is kind of complex, she is very painfully shy around people but she absolutely adores animals I am not entirely sure I managed to express it properly in my photo though. Stylistically I like how the shadows seem to further the divide between her and the other girls but I am not sure how well it will comes off to the judges.

Kindle is way too sweet, I think.

Fairyland splurging

I made a fairly large Fairyland order today via Denverdoll (yay for taking payment plans). I literally just paid off my LittleFee Bisou (Girl) Little Bear who is actually in the mail at the moment, I haven’t actually checked tracking today she might actually be arriving today ^^; . I wasn’t originally planning on ordering another doll (well actually two but that is besides the point) immediately despite the fact that I fell head over heels in love with Littlefee Leah (Girl) Sugar Plum Fairy but the Fairyland Event items were really tempting this time and buying items during the event which only goes through the 15th is the only way to get the event items . I am aware that you can sometimes buy the event items on the secondary market but the price tends to be rather exorbitant. I was definitely going to order Littlefee Leah anyway, so I just moved up my schedule a bit.

So what did I order?

As soon as I seen Leah’s photos I knew I would have to have her as she is the most adorable thing ever. Her face sculpt is similiar to Ante’s who I absolutely adore but it is different enough to keep things interesting and possibly kill my need to get a second Littlefee Ante release eventually (the Ante Elf (Girl) Petit Ange is downright lovely). I actually used to ballet dance for the better part of seven years so I think it is kind of drawing me to her as well.

I just opted for the basic of Cupid, I know I said Pongpong would be my final pukipuki but well I recently fell in love with this one ^^; On the bright side pukipukis are rather small so at least they don’t take up much space..

Even with ordering two dolls, I wasn’t quite at the threshold for my desired LE item the Minifee breakaway head and matching arm but I was pretty close so I ended up ordering a lilac wig for Cupid and a couple of sets of hands as I had managed to misplace one of my puki’s left hands and that put me right at the threshold for it. In theory I shouldn’t want the scarred head and gnarled arm especially since I don’t even have a body for it and will therefore have to buy it a body at some point.. and well unlike my other bjds who were selected for being extremely pretty, the head is kind of the antithesis of pretty but I find myself drawn to it. I don’t collect male bjds at all (the resin boy bits are a bit too for me) so the breakaway head will eventually be going on a girl body, my current plan is to buy a basic Minifee Miyu at a later date and have them share a body.

I do secretly find myself horrified that this will likely be bjds #10 and #11 for me, I do take some comfort in the fact that I prefer the smaller bjds and only have two of the SD sized bjds.

74 & 75/365- Double arrival post

I am taking the realistic approach and doing a double post in the hopes of catching up on my actual posts…
Yesterday’s new arrivals- HLJ packages arrived yesterday, I was kind of amused that they packed the small Vocaloid Miku Sega Prize in it’s own separate shipping box while the other two figures and the plush were in one box together.

* I was anticipating the other two items from my agent but I was surprised by the gift of the tea set, I had no idea what was in the box when I first seen it and was downright delighted when I realized it was a Rozen Maiden tea set. Once I took it out to examine it further I realized that it actually came with tea I was even more amazed.

Picture of the set because well it’s something you don’t see every day.

Still waiting on a number of things including a Miku plush to match my Rin and Len plushes and I kind of bought another Lucky Star Mama Chapp a couple days ago on Yahoo Japan ^^;

May Pullip/Dal/Taeyang announced

There does not really seem to be a unifying theme for May, the pullip and taeyang look similiar to each other but the dal seems to be matched with Veritas/Tantus.

73/365- Suiseiseki figure by Wave

As usual I am running a day behind or so. I was going to have a little bit of extra money this month, I was thinking about splurging and getting the Suiseiseki Super Dollfie by Volks as I have been wanting her for a long time and I am in the middle of rewatching Rozen Maiden. Hina is favorite character from Rozen Maiden but Suiseiseki is probably the anime character out of any series most similiar to myself in personality. I was pretty seriously thinking about her until I really started to look at the prices for her, I knew she was going to be expensive but she is utterly ridiculous. eBay‘s price is utterly asinine, that seller is always pretty high though he even has a Suiseiseki pullip listed for almost $400 (I think Pullipstyle has her on sale for $98). Yahoo Japan currently ranging in price from just under $1900 to over $2700 and that is before proxy fees. At a minimum I was looking at cost of over $2k with fees for a doll, I just couldn’t justify it I had been willing to spend about $1300 which in itself is kind of horrifying to me that I was considering to pay that amount there is no way in hell I am paying almost twice that for a doll. She would have to come with the ability to actually fight in an Alice game and come with the capability of witty banter -desu- before I considered paying that much for a damn doll.

Despite the Super Dollfie’s massive cost I still have a soft spot for Suiseiseki. I decided that the picture of the day for yesterday should be one of my Suiseiseki figures. The Wave figure of her is actually pretty nice quality, my only complaint is it’s tiny size as she is only about 1/10 or so. Thinking about it, I think it is safe to say that she is my favorite figure of her of the ones I have anyway.

72/365- Custom Pullip Zell

Sorry for being so late with yesterday’s picture of the day post. I have been rather busy with work and other commitments last few days. Anyway unto the picture, I photographed my other newly acquired custom Zell recently. She was originally a Raphia, she was customized by Papermoonpixie for me. I had been wanting a green haired elf for quite some time, back when I was high school I had a little comic I worked on in my free time and the main character was you guessed a green haired elf girl with mismatched eyes named Zell.

I’m very happy with how she turned out, I still need to get her better clothes and one of her eyechip colors are incorrect which I need to fix ^^;

I am not happy with any of the photos I have gotten of her yet 😦

– Get caught up with photographing newer stuff, I still have some stuff from before Christmas that hasn’t even been deboxed and lots of the newer dolls haven’t been photographed yet either (Cheshire is a camera whore apparently).
– Spend less in general this month, especially on dolls though (spending was ridiculous last month)
