113/365- X/1999 Hinoto Custom Pullip

I decided that for yesterday’s picture of the day, I would use the Requiemart custom pullip Hinoto. Hinoto is based off of the Clamp character from anime/manga X/1999. I had recently started working my way through the manga again so I thought taking some more pictures of her would be appropriate.

I can’t get over how gorgeous this doll is, she really seems to capture the Clamp character design. I have always especially loved Clamp’s stylized eye make that used a lot in their earlier career (not so much these days) and I think Requiemart faithfully captured it on the pullip.

112/365- Chobits- Chii Figure

I’ve had this figure since it was released. It’s been around for such a long while, I never really bothered photographing it as at this point I am just so used to seeing it around I don’t even consider when deciding what to photograph. I love Chobits, I am a big fan of Clamp in general but I think the Chobits manga is one of my favorite of all their works. The anime isn’t bad but I never loved it as much as the manga, I am not sure if it is because I actually read the manga before starting to watch the anime or if it is because something just seemed to get lost in translation from manga to anime.
112/365
This Chii figure is actually based off of one of my favorite Chobits illustrations, I have a framed poster from the Chobits poster box hanging in my hallway I like it so much. I tried to recreate the feeling of the illustration as best I could with my photo. I am kind of sad though because after handling the figure it kind of occurred to me that mine is leaning and is probably going to snap like my friend’s previously did this figure may not stand the test of time :/

111/365- Fate/Stay Night- Saber Bikini version Figure

I have been trying to cut down on buying Fate/Stay Night figures as I am basically out of space for them in their display right now, I do eventually want to get Saber Lily but at the same time I am not in a major rush. I was browsing Yahoo Japan when this figure caught my eye a few weeks back, it was ending pretty cheap with no bids so I decided to bid. There is a surprising number of Saber bathing suit figures, I own most of them now I think.
111/365
This figure is by Griffon Enterprises and originally came out way back in 2007. I had previously thought about getting this figure a few times but the pose is a bit odd, so it made me hesitate.  I do like the figure but at the same time I am going to be careful with where this figure ends up on the shelf and I am going to try and resist the temptation to do odd photo shoots with it.

110/365- Evangelion- Rei- Sega Prize

I’m glad I passed on the Uplark version of Rei in the Evangelion entry plug, I had really wanted to preorder it but ended up passing on it. I seen it in person at Animadness and although the entry plug itself was great looking the Rei figure left a lot to be desired, to be honest despite the fact the Uplark figure is much more expensive I think I am a lot happier with my Sega Prize figure than I would have been with the Uplark.
110/365

I chose her as the picture of the day for Thursday as my American Blu-ray copy of Evangelion 1.11 You Are Not Alone arrived via Amazon. I already have the Limited Japanese Pressing of Evangelion 1.0 as well as the Japanese Blu-ray but I felt I needed the option to listen to the dub. Over ten years ago, I decided I had enough of horrendous dubs and decided to only watch subtitled anime from that point on Evangelion is one of the few exceptions where I will actually watch it dubbed. It’s not that Evangelion’s dub is great Shinji’s voice makes me want to bang my head into a wall repeatedly so I honestly think it is more of a nostalgia thing for me which speaks volumes as I won’t even watch the bastardized dub of my beloved Sailor Moon anymore, at least not without a lot of liquor first.

June Pullip Releases Announced (Steampunk +)

Groove Inc officially announced the June dolls a few days ago now, I have been busy though so I haven’t had a chance to post them until just now. Groove Inc has made the decision to have the European pullip dealer Suemomo their new photographer, it’s great because she is an awesome photographer and she is nice person but at the same time I don’t exactly trust photoshop. I am personally dying of anticipation for these releases, they all look like very original/different releases.
P014-2
We finally have some information about the Steampunk releases, apparently they are all LE2000 but they will be monthly releases. Pullip will be the first release in June, Taeyang will be in September, Byul in November and Dal won’t be released until January of next year. They all come with the understandably high price tag of 15750 yen which is about $174 or so with the current conversion rate, which considering their level of detail isn’t surprising. Pullipstyle listed the pullip for $128 and I put in preorder in immediately.
P014-1
P014-3
She comes with a fair, she is well worth the price in my opinion.
The Pullip’s name is Eos and she is truly gorgeousity made pullip.
P014-4
Groove Inc has made a site dedicated to Steampunk Pullip Project.

D111-2
Lucia is June’s dal. Lucia is a police dal.
D111-1
I’m actually pretty excited about her as she is pretty cute and I like uniforms, especially police/military uniforms.

B305-3
Paulia is June’s byul, still not interested in byul myself. I am hoping to find someone to split her with as I would love her stock.

Even the minis for June rock..
LP413-3
They are actually making a little pullip Rovam, I will definitely have to get this one as my love for Rovam knows no bounds.
LD513-2
Drta is the mini dal, Drtra was the first dal to sell out completely so I understand why they chose to make her as mini even if she isn’t a personal favorite of mine.

109/365 Saber Lily Nendoroid

I’ve actually had the Fate Unlimited Codes Saber Lily nendoroid since my last trip up to Animadness but I didn’t get around to deboxing her until earlier today. I’m glad I opened her up and decided to use her for today’s picture of the day, as I really love her. I think she might just be my favorite of all of the Saber nendoroids. Saber Lily was the only one I didn’t own for a while I was fortunate enough to pick up all of the others (Dark Saber LE, Armor Saber LE, Lion Saber, Casual Saber and Konata cosplaying Saber) over the past couple of years basically as they were released.
109/365
I still need to get the Good Smile Company version of Saber Lily eventually but other things take priority at the moment and frankly I am out of space on my Fate display at this point.

108/365- DOA Kokoro Beach Figure

It was literally sixty degrees out yesterday and there are already bathing suits hitting store shelves so I decided to use one of many swimsuit figures for yesterday’s picture of the day.  I actually really love the Dead or Alive franchise, I have been playing since DOA was in my local arcade when it was a new game.  I really  feel old now, I remembering buying Dead or Alive for the Playstation while waiting for Tekken 3 to come out ^^; Ayane has always been my favorite character, her move set really seems to suit my play style her mix of power and speed really works well for me and I love her storyline/personality plus her character design is too cute. I rather like Kokoro in theory but I rarely play as her as I never quite mastered her move set, I am still fairly competent with her but somehow I don’t think I will ever her mastered to the point I have Ayane, Kasumi, Hitomi, Helena or Christie.
108/365

I like the DOA franchise so much I even like the beach volleyball games. I really loved the first one as it was great mindless fun, it was nice stress release. The game was pure fluff, it knew it was pure fluff though so it was great fun. I never cared for the 2nd game as much, I liked playing beach volleyball was not so keen on jet-ski racing etc. there is one good thing about the second DOA beach game and that is Kokoro, I play as her a fair bit or team up with her volleyball. Kotobukiya made a line of figures based on several of the different characters from the DOA beach volleyball games, I didn’t buy all of them but I did get Kokoro, Ayane and Lei Fang I had Hitomi preordered but she sold out before my order could be fulfilled :/. The Kokoro figure is really nice for a Kotobukiya figure probably the best one from the set.

I always kind of joke that they Tecmo cheated us out of a really cool opportunity for another girl in the beach volleyball franchise, there was a Spartan from Halo in DOA4 that is supposedly a girl (you can’t really tell from the armor). Either with or without armor having a Spartan on the beach in a bikini would have been epically hilarious.

Finally some good weather.. so pullip & bjd photoshoot

The weather was beautiful the day before yesterday, so I decided to take some dolls out for a photo shoot.
Picture 4666
I had been dying for an opportunity to show off my Happy Birthday Pullip’s new wig, her stock wig was absolutely horrible and beyond repair and it had taken me quite a long time to find a suitable replacement.
Picture 4674
The wig is made by Luts, it’s absolutely amazing quality. The wig was well worth the cost, I am glad I joined in on the mini-go with Requiemart and got it. A go for those unfamiliar with such things is when several people band together to order dolls/wigs etc to save on shipping as a lot of the sites only ship via ems and paying $18 for one wig is a bit ridiculous but like six wigs would only be like $26 shipping which would make shipping per wig a lot more reasonable.  Some sites even offer free shipping over a certain amount but since I tend to only be involved with smaller Gos I have yet to reach the free shipping over $700 mark.
Picture 4675
I am extremely happy that I did decide to splurge on the wig for Portia, it really seems to suit her.
Picture 4678
I also brought out my 2nd Happy Birthday Pullip 2, Kaya I had been neglecting her photographically. I had never given her, her own photo shoot I still need to get more photos of her but at least I now have some photos of her. Kaya is such a pretty girl, there are seriously never enough photos of some of the older limited pullips.
Picture 4698
Cheshire was a last minute addition to my pullip crew, I’m glad I brought her though as I love how this picture turned out.
Picture 4692
I also brought Honeychild out as I had not taken many pictures of her yet.

Kia Asamiya’s Rouge Gallery

I picked up the Riddler and Catwoman figures on the cheap last weekend at a small comic convention I attended. I am trying to focus on only collecting Joker and Harley Quinn figures with the occassional Poison Ivy or Batman thrown in (plus whatever random figures they throw in giftsets with Joker) but I am currently in the process of reading Gotham City Sirens. Catwoman is one of three main characters of Gotham City Sirens and Riddler has been in a couple of issues (plus I always kind of had a soft spot for him) including the most recent issue 9 which I had literally just read plus they were both pretty damn cheap.

Riddler is in his old jumpsuit, whenever I see Riddler in the jumpsuit all I can think of is 1960’s campy Batman Frank Gorshin’s Riddler. Speaking of which campy Batman needs to be put on dvd, I would prefer Blu-ray but I would settle for dvd but the rights battle continues on and I doubt it is going to happen anytime soon. I kind of like the newer version of Riddler better, the jumpsuit just does not seem to suit him and his intelligence. From what I understand Gorshin despised the jumpsuit as well and suggested an alternate costume of a green question mark suit and a bowler cap that eventually made it’s way into the comics. Gorshin is actually responsible for a lot of Riddler’s popularity, before the campy tv show Riddler had only been a minor villain appearing in only a handful of comics but because of the tv show his popularity really caught on.
Picture 4659
While the outfit is not as horror inducing as Jim Carrey’s outfit in Batman Forever, it is still kind of too tight for my taste. As retro as the costume is, I can’t really remember him wearing the bowler cap with it before so I think it is a nice touch to bring something from the newer costume as well as referencing the old costume.
Picture 4660
I always kind of thought of the Riddler being fairly thin, while he is thin he is also fairly muscular here. I like the included stand/backdrop it’s a nice little touch.

Catwoman is one of her older outfits as well, she has actually gone through a great number of outfits through the years this one has always been one of my favorites though. Unlike with the Riddler figure, tight is actually a good thing in this case. Catwoman is my least favorite of the Gotham City Sirens, when I was a little kid I was a big Catwoman fan but my love for her has cooled over the years. I think it may be her inability to commit one way or the other do I want to be a good guy or a bad guy today? I’m not a big fan of the gray area, I do find myself warming up a bit slightly to her but she is still not a favorite.
Picture 4654
I wish the mold seams were a little cleaner, I also wish there wasn’t a gap in the arm I think that may be a design flaw with all of the Kia Asamiya’s Batman figures though as both my Joker and Harley Quinn have popped an arm at different times. The sculpt on her is pretty nice, she has a lot of assets but they are not enhanced to point of vulgarity it always amuses me how much bust size can fluctuate from comic to comic.
Picture 4653

I love her cityscape background.

107/365- Lucky Star x Macross Frontier- Ranka Lee edition

I didn’t buy my Lucky Star x Macross Frontier figures as a set, I picked them one or two at a time most of them are actually still in the mail Tsukasa has been here for a little while now. I had opened her and set her on my desk and promptly kind of forgot about her existence, I had never photographed her before yesterday.
107/365
I have the original Banpresto Macross Frontier set as well, so I decided to photograph Tsukasa with her real counterpart Ranka Lee. I prefer the Tsukasa figure over the  Ranka Lee figure surprisingly, the figure is just a lot cuter and the quality seems to have been kicked up a notch.
Picture 4642
I definitely approve of the choice to have Tsukasa cosplay Ranka Lee, I’m surprised how well Tsukasa manages to pull off Ranka Lee’s outfit she really shouldn’t as it should clash with her hair horribly but it actually seems to work for her.
Picture 4638
Picture 4641
Tsukasa seems a lot more “alive” to me as a figure, I know that is weird way to describe it but Ranka’s actual figure just looks static to me.

I can’t wait for the others to arrive.
