171/365- Jouet Family & some thoughts on pullip..

I had a meet with Requiemart at my place a few days ago. It had been a while since out last meet and well it had been quite a while since she had been here. It was nice to see her again and have a chat. We chat about different dolls and upcoming projects she is planning to work on, somehow I always manage to come up with an ideas for more customs….

She left Joel here on leave until our next meet. Joel is a taeyang version of the doll carnival limited Jouet, I just recently got a mini Jouet dal in the mail and I already had a custom pullip Joyette (also by requiemart) so I decided it was time for some family photos.

I love doing family shots of dolls like this.

Almost all dals are bratty and attention-hogs especially when there is a pullip involved.

I know there has been some talk that has effectively been some talk about me no longer collecting pullip but I am by no means done collecting pullip, I am on somewhat of a break right now. Even saying I am on a break is somewhat of a misnomer as well another member of the rainbow mafia joined the crew yesterday and another custom doll is now in the works. … well two dolls but one is a doll I have she is just being tweaked a bit (one of my Alas is being matted) but the other one necessitated me getting another doll to have customized. I am also seriously considering buying a custom doll next month, so I guess I am just kind of pausing. I have kind of withdrawn from the pullip community but it’s more out of frustration than anything as all the people I used to know who did collect have moved on with the exception of Requiemart (she is kind of in her separate category though) so I don’t have as much as an urge to engage with the community as I did previously.

I am behind on my collect all the released pullips/dals scheme I currently need three pullips (Sabrina, Shan-ria, Saras) and two dals (Pinocchio and Setti). I do have next month’s pullip Eos preordered, but catching up is still going to be slightly painful. It’s probably going to cost me somewhere between $500-$600 to catch up >_<. I still love the pullips but with so much stuff going on in real life I have had a hard time really focusing on them lately. On a practical level right now, I have been so busy with real life stuff I haven’t had much time to devote to the dolls and they are in chaos right now I am trying to build the doll room of my dreams right now unfortunately I haven’t had the time to really work on it the way I need to. Progress is slow but it is slowly coming together, once it is completed I will debox my NRFB Rei and the new member of the rainbow mafia as a reward to myself. I am hoping to have it all done by next Monday but it depends on if I get any free time between now and then ^^;

170/365- Fairyland BJD arrivals

After a long wait, my two and a half new Fairyland bjds from Denverdoll arrived in the mail today. I ordered during Fairyland’s last event, I was enticed by the event exclusive Minifee scar head. I had eventual plans of ordering the two dolls I did get but I decided to make those plans much more short term so I could get the exclusive.

What came?
Littlefee Leah Sugar Plum Fullset (with face up on sleeping head)
Pukipuki Cupid Basic
Minifee Scar head and arm event exclusive
and a pukipuki wig, a spare set of hands and a pair of puki boots.

Not exactly the most photogenic as this one is just a disembodied arm and a floating head but I have big plans for this one eventually.

Originally my plan had been to only have three pukipukis and that they would all be named after the Powerpuff Girls (Bubbles, Blossom & Buttercup). One more can’t hurt? The pukipukis are so tiny they don’t take up much space after all. I named her after Princess, a villain from the same show.

And finally the little camera whore, my littlefee Leah Natasha. Littlefees in general seem to enjoy being in front of the camera but I really loved shooting Natasha once I started taking pictures of her it was almost impossible to stop ^^;

Her lavender eyes are so beautifully haunting.

This is the first time I splurged on getting the face up done on the sleeping head that comes with the full sets. I am glad I did as I really love her sleeping face.

I hadn’t really thought about numbers in terms of bjds before today, I have been collecting for slightly over a year and now own 14 1/2 (not counting dollfie dreams). I now own 1 SD-13 (Volks:Nana-unnamed), 3 SD (Volks: Custom Mimi-Yuzuki, Nono-Alice, ), 1 1/2 msd (Volks: Tsubaki- Klein & Minifee event head) 5 yo-sd (Volks- Hinaichigo, Lillie & Fairyland: Ante-Marie, Bisou-Honeychild and Leah-Natasha) and 4 tinies (Pukipukis: Piki-Blossom, Lily-Buttercup, Pong-Bubbles and Cupid-Princess). I think the Yo-SD are my favorite size bjd, they are a pure joy to shoot so I decided to round all of mine up today for a group photo.

Massive Update

So my internet connection went from very bad to completely non-existent over the weekend thereby crippling my ability to go online. I could access my email and that was about it. Bonus suck points really started kicking in yesterday when I turned my car to get repaired and subsequently became homebound X_X

This picture is almost a week old now but it is probably one of my favorite recent pictures that I have taken. I love how well Yui compliments Suzumiya, I admittedly got Yui to counterbalance Suzumiya as she was the only “un”matched dollfie I had left. I like my dollfies best in pairs apparently.

I took Honey out for a shoot this past week as I didn’t have that many pics of her even though she has been here for a while.

The one good thing, about not having the internet is I had a bizarre amount of free time, which I spent sorting the veritable tons of doll stuff I have managed to accumulate over the years.

While amidst my sorting duties, I took a break and checked my paypal account and was surprised to see that Friendly Freckles had managed to be sold without me giving my paypal address out. I was momentarily perplexed until I seen who the payment was from and a note saying that she was remain with me. She was the one doll I was really waffling on selling so I am kind of relieved she ended up staying.

I accomplished sorting all of this stuff but unfortunately, there is a lot left to sort and I have the internet again now so umm progress will probably be slowed a bit.

I have pretty doll-centric in my photography lately, I did recently take a few pics of some nendoroids though.

Since my Friendly Freckles is staying I decided to take Daphne out for a few photos.

I also decided to take my Heather Sky along for photos as well mostly because I was really feeling the outfit I had picked out for her that day.

At least now we are finally mostly caught up ^^;

PSA- Requiemart’s revamped site and first look at custom SD

Requiemart has revamped her website, and she now has a blog. Her image galleries on her site had previously irreparably crashed over the holidays and well since Flickr was a lot more easy to update she had mainly been focusing on it. The blog is supposed to focus on her current customization projects etc. I own a lot of her customs and since I receive a fair number of questions for/about her I thought it would be prudent to kind of let everyone know she has her own blog now. It’s very user-friendly and is like the go-to site for pullip customizing.

On a more personal note, in the screencap a picture can be seen of an in-progress custom dollfie. The dollfie is my Super Dollfie Mimi and she is getting customized to become Yuzuki from Chobits. While she is now done being customized she is far from complete I am still on the hunt for the perfect eyes/wig and stock for her. She was customized with the Super Dollfie Chi’s make up in mind in case, somehow I ever actually manage to attain her >_< I originally had different plans for her but I decided to use her in my long-term Chobits goal. Eventually, I have the long term goal of having a good chunk of the Chobits cast in doll form. Yuzuki is just the first step, I plan on eventually having twin Elda and Freya dolls I will probably have two dollfie dreams customized for this purpose and have Sumomo and Kotoko as custom Yo-SD sized bjds. Right now this is all extremely long term plans, I am not sure if I will ever expand my plans outwards to include more characters from Chobits if I was to expand further I would probably be more interested in other Clamp characters rather than just more Chobits characters.

Mystery Dollfie Dream Theater

A picfic of mysterious origins was found on my camera yesterday, I was at work all day yesterday so I was not the photographer meaning the dollfies must have sprung to life or something.

So Yui and Suzumiya start off as friends.. Yui plays her guitar for Suzumiya then Suzumiya decides to play and crank the volume up a notch!

163/365- New Arrival K-on Yui Dollfie

I received my tenth dollfie dream in the mail yesterday. I decided rather than getting caught up in trying to get all of the K-on merchandise (well with the exception of the nendoroids) especially with the way figure prices have been skyrocketing lately that it would be better in the long run if I just went ahead and got the dollfie dream. When figures are almost $100 a pop now I would rather just hold off on getting another 1/2 a dozen and get the DD instead.

Yui is my absolute favorite character of K-on, I love how the dollfie version of her turned out. Her face sculpt kind of reminds me of Yoko’s which is so totally not an issue as Yoko is one of my favorite DD. I like Mio’s character too but something just seems lost in translation in her dollfie form although I, not so secretly lust after her bass guitar.

She has such a cute face.

Back in the day, I used to play guitar which means I have various guitars/guitar stuff such as amps floating around the apartment.

Just a kind of aside but I'm kind against the idea of calling my DDs daughters, I understand the history behind the term but this is my daughter, note the actually being a person not a doll. As much as the dollfies are awesome and I love them, I could never bear to think of them as my daughters.

162/365- Byebye Blythe! (Blythes for sale)

I am kind of fickle about blythes, I have a definite self-imposed limit of 26 and have an ideal of what my perfect family will look like. I periodically look at them together on the shelf and I realize that not all of them are quite fitting in and they are not what I want so they need to be rehomed. The blythe numbers had been swelling a bit recently and I have started to feel the pangs of maybe having too many around, I tried to stave off the feeling by selling Violetina last month but alas more girls are going up on the chopping block.

It’s a continual cycle, some stay some go. After deciding to go through with the purge, I did decide to buy an Enchanted Petal she has been on my wish list for a long time and I hope she stays on to become a permanent resident here.

Updates- Volks Dollfies

I took Feena out for some photos yesterday because I don’t have many photos of her yet.

She is such a gorgeous girl, it is hard finding a good setting for her though I can’t seem to find any place that fits her ^^;.

Earlier in the week I had actually taken Suiseiseki and Hina Ichigo out for photos as well.

I’m glad I finally got some good pictures of Suiseiseki, whose wig just now started to cooperate with me.
According to tracking DD #10 may or may not be here tomorrow :O

Updates- Figures..

I am very behind again due to illness so I am going to make two posts to catch up one focusing on dolls and the other focusing on figures. Figures won the coin toss, so they are going first.

I took a small batch of figures with me recently for a photo shoot, there were some really nice flowers in bloom that I decided to use towards my advantage.

This is probably my favorite of all of my To Heart figures, I just love her happy expression. I am still a sucker for magical girls after all these years, I fear.

It’s still a very extremely cute figure but it’s diminutive size kind of astonished me.

Chua Churam is still a favorite of mine, I just find myself wishing she was a tad larger.

I did have a small package arrive and by small, I mean very small my leek car miku very mini nendoroid arrived.

Her size doesn’t look so bad in the first photo until you view her in the proper perspective with some of the other Miku figures that have been released over the years..

160/365- Free Comic Book Day

So today was Free Comic Book Day, for those generally uninterested in comics almost all comic book shops in the US hand out free comics on the first Saturday of May. The free comics are generally comics that are specifically made for free comic book day and they are kind of designed to get you introduced to the characters to make you want to read more ie. actually buy comics. It’s generally a big day, there are sales, people dress up (generally as comic book characters) and it’s just pure wild, fun chaos.

I had, had ambitious plans to hit every comic book shop in the tri-state area but I have been quite ill dear readers, and I am in still in the process of recovery. I ended up sleeping in until around one in the afternoon so my plans were no longer feasible. I decided to instead play it kind of low-key and hit only a few stores. I decided all things considered I was going to hit Arkham Asylum, Sarge’s Comics and Buried Under.

Arkham Asylum was my first stop but I neglected to take photos of the festivities. I picked up the latest issue of Gotham City Sirens and they were having a basically any 20 issues for $20 deal. I eventually picked out another 20 comics which is a lot harder than it sounds as I am trying to keep a narrow focus and I left the house without my damn list again. I think I got a pretty good mix of newer DC comics unfortunately I think the sales ploy may have worked too well on me as there are now a few more series I want to read more of. As I was getting ready to leave, a woman ran up and stopped me initially I was not even going to stop as I had a bad feeling this was like an omg you took the last issue of what I wanted to read or some such bullshit thing but alas I was wrong. She had apparently been looking for me for some time as she had hit my car when she pulled in >_<

It isn’t that bad but there is a very large scratch and two minor dents but I was pretty pissed as I love my car. My car is affectionately known as Pumpkin because of it’s orange color and well everybody knows not to mess with my Pumpkin. Took forever for the cops to show up to get a police report, I was highly annoyed with the whole situation. Their insurance is supposed to call me on Monday and then I am supposed to get estimates from their blah, blah, blah still highly annoyed.

Because I was detained for so long I decided to scrap my plans to go to Buried Under and just went to Sarges comics. Most of the festivities were long gone because well it was very late in the afternoon by the time I got there but there were still sales. 50% of back issues so I picked up all of Gotham Girls as well as some other comics. I also decided to break down and buy an actual box for comics as I was getting sick of the drifts of comics laying around in the apartment. I also finally splurged and got the old school Harley Quinn action figure that had been sitting on their Sarge’s shelves for forever and a day, I had been torn about her for almost a year now (every time I went in I debated getting her) but the owner cut me a sweet deal so I figured it was time she came home (plus I am still in a pretty foul mood because of Pumpkin frankly).
