Dollfie Dream Shoot (Illya, Rin + Yui)

I decided to take a few of my dollfie dreams out for a photoshoot yesterday. I took Illya, Suzumiya, Rin and Yui with me although somehow none of the pics of Suzumiya really turned out, I also took my SD Nono as well I had like no pictures of her.

Illya’s a little brat she is apparently trying to make Rin her servant!.

Oddly this picture reminds me of myself lol, I used to play guitar normally I use a 2/3 scale guitar for myself otherwise if I use a full sized guitar well then I look Illya with a massive guitar ^^;

Illya is one of my favorite characters in DD form, I can’t help but feel disappointed that she refuses to stand for me though. I ordered KIPS from dollfieworld twice to assist with this problem but it apparently got lost in the mail both times. Perhaps I am not meant to give her KIPS, I should just order it off Volks’ site but somehow I can’t justify $13 in shipping for something so tiny especially since it like costs as much to ship as the cost of the item.

I like shooting the dollfies a lot but it is very time consuming to pack them up and unpack them as I am super paranoid about damaging them so I try to make their photoshoots somewhat sparing.

Yui is still a real favorite around here, I wish I liked Mio’s dd face more as I really love her character plus that bass is out of this world it’s like I want her but I am torn about it. She does look a lot better in owner photos than in the promo shots.

In other Volks news.. Sakura and her transformation set are officially paid for, I was going to order two blank dd heads for a project next month but Volks is now out of stock and I am slightly annoyed >_<

Some slight changes..

You know what? I am still doing the 365 day photography challenge but I am quitting trying to keep up with blogging them all, as well I have a habit of falling behind and frankly I hate playing catch up so damn much. The main catalyst for this decision was the fact that I am going to Georgia next week and while I will be bringing my laptop, I have no idea what my internet situtation will be like. I am not done with blogging, I am just going to do things at my own pace. I have no real desire to go to Georgia but eh I don’t think I can get out of it at this point, on the brightside I have been to where I am going before so I already know where all the shops are in the area.

I have been working on a few things kind of behind the scenes on this blog over the past week or so while binge watching Lost (my new addiction <3). I have populated all of these now:

Clickity click and it will take you to the appropriate page. I still have to do taeyangs and I am still working on adding more useful information to the doll faq which I have been working on. I am working on making things a bit easier to navigate here as well.

Other things I have done recently around here:
– I streamlined and updated the Dollfie Dream page
– I started working on a new project re: anime figures, while I am no longer buying them in mass quantities I still love them so I am working on cataloging all of them in my personal collection you can see the beginnings of this effort here and here
– I made a Links page and have started using the link app to make navigation a bit easier around here.

I’m still working on a ton of different stuff here, revamping, tweaking plus outright getting rid of some stuff.

Das Pullip

I went to the USS Nautilus with my own little navy fleet with me for a photo op.

My Jouet (Gelato), Joyette (custom Hello Kitty by Requiemart), Joel (Requiemart’s custom here on loan) and Sorbeto (Mini Jouet) made up my motley crew of sailors.

Although the crew is a bit small they make up for it in sheer determination.

Of course what good is a military force without some hardware. Maybe size does matter after all..

181/365- Self Portrait

These next few entries are going to be in no conceivable order, sorry about that.

So there was a meme going around on flickr where in you were to post a picture of yourself and post ten random facts about yourself. At first I tried to ignore this phenomenon as I was not terribly enthralled with the idea of posting a picture of myself online but eventually I gave in once I found a loophole that is..

1. I love playing video games (Halo, Oblivion, Arkham Asylum, etc.) and reading comics, plus I essentially live in a toy store what with all the toys everywhere. Sometimes I really feel like I am living the dream of a twelve year old boy X_X

2. My music taste is fairly eclectic. I love Green Day, Eminem, Everclear, My Chemical Romance, System of a Down etc…. but I also listen to everything from classical music to Alice Cooper the only thing I won’t listen to is country music.

3. My favorite colors are green and orange. My current car is orange and nicknamed Pumpkin, I jokingly nicknamed it but now virtually all my friends/family refer to my car as the Pumpkin.

4. I originally had no interest in the reboot of the Batman franchise, I had loved the Batman animated series with a passion when I was younger but I hadn’t really given it much thought since then…Unfortunately being dragged to go see Dark Knight in theaters had the unintended consequence of opening up the floodgates. I ended up going to see Dark Knight in theaters like twelve times (in my defense, I was also heavily pregnant at the time and had taken some time off of work so it wasn’t like I had much else to do at the time). I never really cared for Batman per say but I always loved the villains especially Joker and Harley Quinn.

5.I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies and have no interest in remedying that anytime soon, even though people have attempted to bribe me to do so in the past. I also have no interest in Star Trek, hell Sci-fi stuff in general doesn’t really interest me although I love Futurama and Invader Zim- go figure .

6. I am rather petite, I am only 4’10.

7. I just recently started watching lost like a week and a half ago… I’m about halfway through season 4. The finale was last night, I tried to watch it with my limited frame of reference I am now a bit perplexed.

8. I love BAD horror movies, I like horror films in general but I love the horribly made ones even better for the sheer hilarity. Stuff where people just randomly disappear and no one seems to notice/care and even the dog even has a flashback. The more incoherant the better, bonus points if it is horrendous dub of a film that was already terrible in it’s original language. Zombie Strippers is a real favorite of mine.

9. I don’t watch as much anime as I used to, I just don’t care for a lot of the newer shows. When I do watch anime these days I tend to go for slightly older stuff.

10. I have one child, a daughter nicknamed zilla she is almost two years old now. She is my little ball of sunshine, she is always happy and bubbly but she is also fearless and can be very cunning at times (if you put her in front of the computer the results are shocking!).

177/365- Enchanted Petal Blythe

My Enchanted Petal Blythe arrived a few days ago. I can already tell she is one of the blythes that will be staying for a long time, as I really like her. Her hair color is really dreamy it reminds me of my pullip Prunella’s haircolor. Her stock is really cute and wellmade, every time I look at blythe stock I get a little more annoyed with the pullips as it always seems like blythe stock quality is a bit nicer ^^; Overall I am very happy with her, I remember looking at her when she was still in the preorder stage and really thinking about her then just about two years later with lots of waffling in between she is finally mine. I still have no idea what I am going to name her.

She is my 16th blythe, ideally my plan had been to sell four blythes recently taking me down to a total of thirteen blythes (until EP arrived as #14). Friendly Freckles ended up staying after all and then well there was this incident with Frosty Frock X_X When dolls are for sale I remove them from the shelves as a way to disconnect them from myself and kind of get me used to the idea of hey they are not going to be there anymore, sometimes like with Friendly Freckles it is actually a really good idea as it made me realize I was not quite ready to give her up yet ^^; The dolls that were for sale were in my living room, while I was out of the house and someone was less than diligent in watching Zilla and let her loose in the living room. So Zilla messes with my blythes all the time, what’s the big deal? Well when throw this new variable called markers gets thrown into the equation very bad things happen. I withdrew Frosty Frock from the market. On the brightside damage is limited to the scalp area, I loved Frosty Frock’s face and I had wanted a mohair girl so I am thinking there is a silver lining here. I am thankful that zilla just seemed to be trying to recolor her hair/scalp and that I am not going to try and have to learn how to remove sharpy marker from blythe X_X

176/365- Littlefee Leah (Natasha)

Well, first in semi-important news comcast got off their asses and rewired my building so I have the internet! It’s no longer in random frustrating intervals, it like works all the time now. I don’t think I can properly express how awesome this is because the last almost two months have been filled with intermittant internet fail X_X

I am not sure what it is about the Littlefees/Yo-SD sized bjds that really fascinated me so much, they consistantly are the bjds I enjoy playing with/photographing the most. They just seem to be the perfect size for me. The Littlefees especially for whatever reason seem to love getting in front of the camera. My Littlefee Leah, whom I have named Natasha fullset is my newest Yo-SD sized bjd and well I love her…

I chose Leah for a couple of reasons.. I really adore Littlefee Ante and they have released a few different sets of her now but while I love her I wanted something different and Leah is similiar to Ante but also different so she gave me a little variety. I also used to be a ballet dancer in my youth so I think that probably attracted me to her as well.

I was kind of stuck on a name, I was watching Dark Knight so I ended up naming her after the prima ballerina that Bruce Wayne dates briefly before running off with the whole damn ballet troup. It really does seem to fit her though, although now I secretly want the Nutcracker Piki so I can name him Boris X_X

I love how beautifully Littlefees pose, they are very graceful.

I know I eventually want more Littlefees but I am kind of torn as to who I would actually want as my next….

175/365- VolksUSA Lottery Results..

About two weeks ago VolksUSA had an entry period for a lottery for Dolls Party 23 limited items. The results were supposed to be out on the 14th, but were delayed a few days causing much angst in the Volks dolls collecting community as well people were getting extremely anxious waiting for the results….especially for some of us who had felt the urge to cull some of their blythes in order to be ready to fund such an expedenture especially considering I had just got Yui in the beginning of the month.

This afternoon I unexpectedly got an email from VolksUSA, after no email on Friday I started to get a bit worried but since no one else had really posted that “I won a doll” I figured there was still a chance I would get the doll I was after. When Saturday rolled around and still no email I figured, perhaps Volks was not open on the weekend and that I would find out either way on Monday if the anticipation did not kill me in the meantime. There was one further complication, I ordered two things and I ordered them seperately. I was really unsure if I was going to be able to raise the neccesary funds for Sakura (I just paid for DD Yui and car repairs) so I kind of had some help which meant that the doll’s confirmation email wasn’t even going directly to me so I was kind of waiting around to hear from them to see if they got an email ^^;. Turns out I was kind of worried for nothing as funding seems to be coming together without any issue now…This afternoon, I got an email letting me know that I had at least won the outfit set within about two minutes I got a second email. The second email was a forwarded email from Volks letting me know that I had won the doll as well.

Now comes the really, really hard part waiting until August for my stuff to actually arrive X_X So who/what is coming in August?…..

Sakura Dollfie Dream- While Illya has always been my favorite character from Fate/Stay Night, Sakura has never really been that far behind her. I had at one point been considering making a custom Sakura DD as I had kind of given up hope on Volks making one themselves (Volks if you are listening please make my other dream Fate/Stay Night DD Rider as well kay?pleasethanxbye). I am extremely pleased with Sakura in dollfie form, I was really excited to see some owner pictures of her from people who were actually lucky enough to get her at the dollpa she just looks really lovely. She will join my Illya and my Rin DD, I don’t have a Saber yet but I am thinking eventually I will probably have to get one now ^^; Maybe Volks will release a Saber Lily DD for me ^_-

Sakura Transformation Set- I have always loved Dark Sakura, I was thrilled when I seen that Volks was releasing a set (clothes/wigs/eyes) so Sakura could be transformed into Dark Sakura. I was kind of torn because I love Sakura and I love Dark Sakura and well two sets of DD twins might be excessive (plus VolksUSA only lets you enter once per doll). Additional considerations while rewigging a DD is easy, changing the eyes out can be somewhat troublesome.. I asked resident doll god Requiemart for advice and she assured me that one of the blank DD heads I have laying around could very well have an identical face up as Sakura, or could be made into an even more badass version of Dark Sakura..

174/365 – Pukipukis and progress report on Chobits Yuzuki BJD

I’m skipping a day to get caught up quicker, while my internet connection is now fixed firefox is now vexing me and shutting itself off periodically. Yesterday, I took my tiny bjd pukipukis out for a photoshoot together.

I just adore the little cuties, they are so tiny and adorable how could not one smile when they look at them? Of course bonus points are awarded because I can still fit all four inside of my purse with ease. I love small/compact things probably because I myself am pretty small at 4’10 but I seriously do have a weakness for tiny cute things like pukipukis or rement.. They are so small I normally transport them in cheap hello kitty eyeglass cases for photoshoots. I was going to stop at three but I ended up getting a fourth, I may eventually get more but I am pretty happy with my crew as is.

The newest member of my pukipuki crew is the bratty little Princess. As I said before my plan was always to get three and name them after the powerpuff girls but I kind of faltered in the face of the last Fairyland event and decided that one more couldn’t hurt especially since I had just fallen head over heels for this little brat.

Now unto one of my slightly larger bjds..

I got my Super Dollfie Mimi back from Requiemart last week during our meet but she was not entirely photogetic as she still lacks a wig and eyes as well as her stock. I decided to borrow a wig from one of my pullips and the eyes from one of my other bjds so I could get some updated pics of her. She is eventually going to be Yuzuki from Chobits. I really love her new face up, it was intentionally done to resemble the official Volks Super Dollfie Chii, on the offchance I ever get her they will share some similarities and look like they at least come from the same series.

172/365- Returning travelers

I sent a few of my dolls off for a vacation to exotic Texas with a friend, namely Skada . The dolls had a fairly long extended vacation, with Skada.

Now, first let me say the loaning dolls out is not something I normally do it is a privilege for very close friends only. Dolls only get loaned out to people that I know and trust. I feel it necessary to mention this as otherwise I feel I will get a flood of emails from people I don’t know requesting I loan them Leprotto or some such yeah it’s not going to happen.

Skada had requested my Dita, Johanna come for a visit and then my Kaela, Mackenzie decided she too wanted to visit Texas. Of course once my Mitzi, Meryl found out one of the other dolls was going on vacation she insisted on tagging along and stowed away.

Since the girls returned after a long-ish absence I decided they each needed a little bit of time in front of the camera.

Mitzi was actually one of my grail dolls for a long time. It seemed like every time I had the money for her saved up none would be available for sale, then one would pop up for sale after I had already spent my hobby allowance for the month X_X I finally got her a while ago,I love her to death so much so I actually ended up trading for a second Mitzi (who subsequently became my Poison Ivy pullip) around a year later. I named my first Mitzi, Meryl after the Escaflowne character (Mitzi’s stock is a leopard print catsuit).

Skada gave Meryl a really adorable braided hairstyle during her visit there, I am really rather fond of it so I think I will keep it.

My Kaela, Mackenzie never got a whole of attention here but after seeing Skada’s adorable pictures of her redressed I was drawn to her more and more. As soon as I got her back I had a whole new appreciation for her and loved her that much more.

and finally my Dita, Johanna..Skada also gave Johanna a cute braided hairstyle which I adore.

August Pullip Releases Announced

It’s that time of the month that Groove likes to announce another batch of forthcoming dolls. I remember when we only knew the dolls that were coming out like two months ahead of time, these days we get a bit more of an advance notice not to mention much better promo photos these days…

Pullip Melissa

Feel like so- I know you ….and you want to be caught by me….I can do whatever you want….Feel Like So.

Melissa’s face up is more reminiscent of the older style face ups like China China than like the newer softer face up style they have been using the past few years. I personally like the older face up style so I am not really complaining.

I love all the details they put into her, her police outfit looks really well made.

I think I am in love, I am really excited about her. Not only am I excited about a girl who reminds me of the older releases I love she comes with a completely badass police uniform. I am either going to need to buy two of her or find someone to split a second one with as I love the uniform that much. On a practical level, I do have Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn custom pullips with a second Harley Quinn in the works and a Joker planned I have the need for some sexy police officers.

Dal- Kanta

Kanta matches this month’s pullip Saras and the forthcoming taeyang Satti.

Kanta is a real cutie pie, while I am not the biggest fan of her stock her face up is absolutely precious.

Taeyang- Steampunk Gyro

Feel like so- My Mechanical Body Removes it gear…. Everything in the world will be ruled. My huge WUNDERKAMMER (Wonder Chamber)!!

The taeyang is the second of the steampunk dolls to be released. I am kind of assuming that like the pullip he will be fairly expensive and probably limited as well.

I want to like him, I really do. His stock is awesome but I find the doll itself somewhat underwhelming.
