Yoko and Saber Lily Dollfie Dreams

Since it had been a good long while since I took any of my Dollfie Dreams out for photos, I decided that I would take two of my girls to the park  yesterday to get some quality photo time in. I chose Saber Lily from Fate/Unlimited Codes and one of my Yoko twins from Gurren Lagann for the photographic honor.

Admittedly, I have been a bit apathetic towards Dollfie Dream in general lately; I love my DD girls but I haven’t really had the motivation or inclination to photograph them or to hunt down new recruits for my DD squad. Luckily, my interest in anime has been somewhat rekindled lately and with it  my interest in DD.

Evangelion Rei and Asuka Mermaid Figures

Today, I decided to photograph my mermaid Asuka and Rei figures from Evangelion. These figures were released way back in 2006 by Sega Prize and have since been rereleased in three different paint variants. I bought them from Rising Sun Creation in California.

These two were always one of my favorite pairs of Evangelion Sega Prize figures even if their existence doesn’t make a hell of a lot of sense, they are quite cute.

Minty Milk Tea Custom (Fakie) Pullip

I recently purchased an Angel Gate (fakie pullip) by Solarsenshi. I had been admiring Solarsenshi’s work for quite some time and when I first saw pictures of Minty Milk Tea on her flickr photostream my heart just melted.  Minty Milk Tea was designed to be a sleeping girl, her eyelids are covered in delicate lace so they were not meant to opened (she does have acrylic eyes- I peaked!) I really loved the concept of an always sleeping girl.  I’m absolutely delighted that I was able to adopt her. 216/365 Minty Milk Tea
A little more information about Angel Gate- Angel Gate dolls are fake Pullip heads, they come as just a head with no face up they do not come with an eye mechanism (their heads were not really designed to hold them either) they show up on ebay from time to time. While I normally do not support bootlegs, I do see some merit to these primarily as customization practice like I currently have an idea for a fairly severe mouth modification that may well destroy the head I try it on and would much rather possibly destroy one of these than an actual Pullip head. There is a potential problem with these, they could be customized and then sold on as real with the exception of the eye mechanism issues they would be pretty hard to tell apart. Minty Milk Tea was clearly designated as an Angel Gate doll but she was so beautiful I had to have her anyway.

Tumblr

I finally made myself a tumblr it focuses on toys, dolls, comics (especially Batman) and of course anime figures.
Tumblr
Speaking of anime… I find myself really enjoying the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series which is unfortunate because it has a lot of merchandise and figures that will all be getting released soon. I fear this may lead me to another anime figure binge (maybe just the nendoroids wouldn’t hurt? but I like the mini nendoroids too.. oh and of course the figmas >_<).

Rebuild of Evangelion- Mari Figma

I’ve actually had the Mari figma from the Rebuild of Evangelion since my birthday way back in March but I just got around to opening her up recently. Despite my massive collection of Evangelion figures, this is actually my only Mari figure; I chose to get the Mari Dollfie Dream rather than a bunch of figures of her instead.

I absolutely love the alternate crazed facial expression Mari comes with.

Mahou Shojou Madoka Magica Pullip Collaboration coming in November

Groove Inc has announced a collaboration with the extremely popular new magical girl anime series Mahou Shojou Madoka Magica. While some of the more recent anime collaboration Pullips have struck me as a bit strange ie. Sengoku Basara this seems like the perfect anime for a collaboration.
プリント
Groove teased us with this image last week on their blog, today the first photos of the dolls have been revealed. More photos will no doubt surface in the next few days and when they do I will update this post with the newer/better photos. Edit: I have found some better pictures!

Join the SOS Brigade… or else!

A few days ago, I swung by one of my local Targets and they had a number of toys on ultra-clearance including a Warthog from Halo Reach (normally $30, I paid $7.50). I’m a huge Halo fan so of course I wanted it despite the fact that I didn’t really have any of the corresponding figures to go with it; I figured with the amount of toys I owned there was a good chance that I would find something that would work with it.

I was quite delighted to find that the Warthog was a great fit for figma. My Suzumiya figma decided the best use of the Warthog would be a new campaign for recruiting members to the SOS Brigade basically join us or else!

The arrival of Vocaloid Snow Miku Pullip

A second version of Vocaloid Pullip Miku was released at Sapporo Winter Festival 2011, this new edition featured a snowy version of Miku much like the nendoroid that was released at Sapporo Winter Festival/Wonder Festival back in 2010. I always loved Snow Miku so I was really super excited that they made her.

Snow Miku is limited to 1000, due her to her being so limited I preordered her from ToyMalaysia. At that point I was not sure if Pullipstyle was going to be able to get her or not, of course they put her up for preorder a few days after I went through ToyMalaysia had I known I probably would have waited for them but I did get my Snow Miku about a month earlier than I would have had I gone through PS. If anyone is still looking for Snow Miku, Pullipstyle still has preorders up for their batch that arrives next month.

Batman: Arkham Asylum- Poison Ivy and Scarecrow Figures

I happened to go to Wonderland Comics during one of their massive clear out sales recently, all of their toys/figures were 50% so I ended up buying a few things. In addition to a few other things I bought the Scarecrow figure from the first series of Batman Arkham Asylum figures as well as Poison Ivy from the second series.
197/365..
Originally I had preordered the entire first series of Batman Arkham Asylum as well as spares of Harley Quinn and Joker to keep mint in box but my preorders went unfulfilled so I have been picking them up here and there when I find them in stores. I had, had my eye out for a while for the Scarecrow figure for a while but I hadn’t had any luck finding him so I was very excited to find him on sale.
196/365- Arkham Asylum Poison Ivy
While I knew Poison Ivy was due out soon I hadn’t realized she had been released yet (turns out she had been released just that past Wednesday). Poison Ivy was the only figure I ever really wanted from the second series, I’m not a big Bane or Zsaz fan and I think the chin protector on the armored Batman suit is downright silly so I’m not really keen on them but if they had released a Killer Croc figure instead of Bane I would have bought him without a moment’s hesitation.

Cover Girls of the DC Universe Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn statues

I’ve decided to abandon the 365 post format, I’m still going strong on my 365 toy project but realistically I keep falling behind on getting everything blogged in a timely manner so I’ll just post the interesting things. Plus this also gives me more of an opportunity to skip around a bit and focus on what I want to.

Yesterday, I realized I had never taken pictures of my Cover Girls of the DC Universe Poison Ivy statue so I decided to take some pictures of her alongside my Cover Girls of the DC Universe Harley Quinn statue. Both statues were made by DC Direct and were designed by Adam Hughes. They were designed to be companion pieces to one another and are both limited to 7000 pieces. Poison Ivy came out earlier this year, Harley Quinn was released late last year.
