Today, I decided to photograph my mermaid Asuka and Rei figures from Evangelion. These figures were released way back in 2006 by Sega Prize and have since been rereleased in three different paint variants. I bought them from Rising Sun Creation in California.
These two were always one of my favorite pairs of Evangelion Sega Prize figures even if their existence doesn’t make a hell of a lot of sense, they are quite cute.
I really love the Asuka figure, I adore her joyful expression and her dynamic posing.
Rei is a bit more demure but it suits her character and the figure is still quite nice.

Looking online for the other half of my two figurine. -.- a 2006 exclusive? How were these released by sets and why? I have the version that you have. She’s beautiful I like her more than asuka tho
They were Sega Prizes, they were sold separately but released in matched pairs I’m about 90% sure this is the common pair but it’s been so long since I got them that I honestly can’t remember, I know one of the other sets were shiny as my friend had a shiny Rei. If you search the character’s name and mermaid on ebay there are lots of them listed there, it would probably be a lot cheaper to acquire from Yahoo Japan but lots more hoops to jump through. I’m a big Asuka fan while my husband is a big Rei fan so we have a lot of matched sets between the two of us.
