Byul Paradis

I love colorful dolls and I’m quite fond of Byul, so when Byul Paradis was announced she definitely caught my attention. Paradis is part of a collaboration with @Babybee.  Unfortunately with her being a collaboration, her price was a bit higher than standard so even though I really liked her she was kind of a low priority for me (especially because I don’t religiously collect Byul like I do Pullip) . I recently found a decent deal on Paradis and decided to indulge myself.

Sword Art Online Kotobukiya Asuna Figure

Recently we re-watched Sword Art Online, I had been wanting to for a while but had been resisting for fear that I would cave in and finally hunt down the Asuna Dollfie Dream.  I really like the show a lot, it’s probably one of my favorite newer shows besides Madoka. Shockingly I didn’t have any figures/toys from it until somewhat recently, of course that had to be remedied.

My first Sword Art Online figure purchase was actually the Asuna figma which I still haven’t busted out for photos yet (I have a ridiculous stack of figmas/nendoroids that I haven’t deboxed/played with yet ^^;).  While I was hunting for the Asuna nendoroid (which I finally did find two days ago) I came across this lovely figure of Asuna by Kotobukiya.
Asuna
This  Asuna figure was released in late May of this year, she is 1/8 scale and had a MSRP of 7800 yen. I actually bought mine at BigBadToyStore of all places, it’s still readily available at a lot of stores but I happened to have a pile of loot already amassed at BBTS that I was planning on having shipped anyway so, I figured why not toss her in the order too.

Ever After High- Maddie Hatter

There was a very nice sale this past weekend at Justice, I wasn’t able to go myself due to various circumstances but my SO is a nice guy and was in the mall anyway. He popped his head in to see if they happened any of the Monster High dolls I needed (they did indeed have two) but they also had some strange new dolls he hadn’t seen before ie. Ever After High dolls so he asked if I might like one of those as well as the MH to which I said yes.
Ever After High Maddie Hatter
Justice actually had all four of the first wave of dolls, I chose Madeline Hatter because I love anything Alice in Wonderland related and she is the daughter of the Mad Hatter plus I have an admitted weakness for dolls of a slightly shorter stature (I’m quite short myself). The MSRP for Ever After Dolls at Justice is whopping $36 but thanks to the sale I paid only $17.28 plus tax.

Caution there is hardcore dolly nudity behind the cut!

Boston Comic Con 2013

I attended Boston Comic Con for the first time yesterday. I had made plans to go last year but they ended up falling through, due to stuff going on in my personal life right now it didn’t seem like I would be able to attend this year either but I while I wasn’t able to attend Saturday like I had planned on, I was able to at least go for Sunday.

Apparently my not having bought tickets ahead of time worked out for us (my minion also attended because I refuse to drive in Boston)  as the line for people buying tickets was much shorter than the pre-registered line. It took us about 35 minutes to get in while it took a buddy of mine who had pre-registered about two hours and we had lined up at the same time.
@BostonComicCon
These two were the first two cosplayers I photographed and they were probably my personal favorites from what I saw yesterday. Joker even gave me his card a specially printed Joker card proclaiming him to The Boston Joker. I was honestly not expecting to see a new 52 style Joker so that was a pleasant surprise.

Arrival: SDCC Supergirl Pullip

SDCC exclusive Supergirl Pullip arrived yesterday via my favorite purveyor of Pullips Pullipstyle . Supergirl is the latest doll in a collaboration between DC Comics and Groove that have previously brought us SDCC exclusives Batgirl, Catwoman, Batman and Wonder Woman as well as NYCC exclusive Harley Quinn. I personally love comics especially DC comics so I am super excited that there is now a Supergirl Pullip.
Supergirl
No matter how strong the enemy, I will protect world peace! …feel like so.
For those unfamiliar with the comic book character, Supergirl is traditionally Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El (from when she was introduced in 1959 until her death during the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic in 1985, she was re-introduced in 2004 during the interim other characters assumed the name).

Arrival: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Kaname Madoka Cu-poche Figure

I’ve been busy, I’d like to say with work but really it’s mostly been Skyrim. I put off playing it for a long time because I knew from past experiences with Oblivion that once I started playing it, I wouldn’t really want to stop playing it and well I was right ^^; When not playing Skyrim, I have actually been very busy with work and the “let’s get the apartment more organized” initiative.

I absolutely adore Madoka so even though in general I have been very good at cutting back my anime figure buying, I find myself having a hard time resisting Madoka figures. This particular figure was absolutely adorable and it was from a new line I hadn’t really heard of before and it’s proportions are somewhat similar to nendoroid so that sounded like good enough justification for me to buy it to investigate!

Madoka
Madoka is from Kotobukiya’s new Cu-poche line, she was the second figure released in the line. Fellow Puella Magi Madoka Magica alum Tomoe Mami is slated to be released as the seventh figure in the line in November (I preordered her!). Madoka’s MSRP was 3800 yen which is a little pricier than the nendoroid who was 3333 yen.

August Pullip Releases

I was about to blog the newly announced September Pullip releases when I realized that somehow I never blogged the August Pullip releases. Three dolls have been announced for August: Pullip Io, Dal Loa and Taeyang Valko all three of the releases have an animal theme this time around (some more subtle than others).

Dal Sentimental Noon

Today, I will be posting about Sentimental Noon. She actually arrived late May but due to recent craziness (I’ve either been sick or traveling) I haven’t had the chance to do a post centering on her just yet and well she is just too cute not to post about.
Sentimental Noon
I purchased Sentimental Noon from Pullipstyle . Sentimental Noon is part of the Snow White series of dolls, she represents one of the dwarfs (dwarfs are replaced with clowns/jesters for this release) from the story.

SDCC 2013 Pullip Revealed: Supergirl

The exclusive Pullip for this year’s  San Deigo Comic Con has been revealed- it’s Supergirl! The last couple of years Groove has partnered with DC to release themed Pullips at SDCC, the first two releases were Pullips Batgirl and Catwoman in 2011. In 2012 Pullip Wonder Woman and Taeyang Batman were released at SDCC, a few months later the villainous Pullip Harley Quinn was released at New York Comic Con.

For those unable to attend SDCC Supergirl is available for preorder via Groove’s online store- here for $144.95. It is worth mentioning that all previous years SDCC releases did eventually become available at other retailers such as Pullipstyle so I kind of assume given precedence that they will be able to offer her offer at some point.

Naturally being a big fan of both comics and Pullips, I’m super excited about this release. I am very much looking forward to having Supergirl join my pantheon of DC characters in doll form. Continue reading

J-Doll Vasterlanggatan

J-dolls are made by Groove (the same company that makes Pullip) and they are dolls that wear fashions inspired by different streets around the world. Unlike Pullip who has an over-sized head, J-doll has a normal sized head. J-doll and Pullip share the same type of body (neck peg is slightly different)- a comparison of Hestia, J-doll and Pullip can be seen- here.

After a long break from buying J-doll, I finally decided to add my most wanted J-doll the super elegant Vasterlanggatan to my collection.
