52/365- Cardcaptor Sakura Figure

Just realized I never posted this one yesterday *facepalm* Still very sore from my fall so I decided to take it easy with yesterday’s shoot. I chose one of my Cardcaptor Sakura figures I got out of Sarge’s comics years ago. The bulk of of my Cardcaptor Sakura stuff is actually in zilla’s nursery and this figure just happened to catch my eye yesterday while I was in her room bink hunting (I don’t know what she does with her binks but she has over 100 of them and I can never seem to find them).

As much as I have always loved Cardcaptor Sakura it always kind of seemed to me that it got raw deal merchandise-wise. There is a lot of merchandise but most of it is lesser stuff like gashapon, prize figures and various odd stuff (I have lunch boxes, wands, a board game among other things) I wish there had been nicer figure releases outside of resin kits. Today’s figure is probably one of the better prize figures, unfortunately even the other figure that got released alongside it was a bit odd (the pose was odd and the sculpt seemed off). It’s really not a bad figure for a prize figure, it’s also fairly large probably around 1/6 scale really not a bad value for the $15 I paid for it years ago.

Doll Wish List

I decided to make a new doll wish list because well it’s been a while since I have and I was asked to make a more up to date one. You will probably notice that pullips and friends are conspicuous in their absence, while I still love them I am in a good place with my collection at the moment and I am actively trying to just buy customs and the new releases as they are released. I haven’t fallen out of love with pullip, I just have everyone I want at the moment and the dolls that I still want are customs it would be rather hard to quantify for our purposes here.

Please note these are in no specific order, I am not currently buying anything this list is just for my and one other person’s future reference (Valentine’s Day, my birthday aren’t that far off). Some of the dolls on the wish list are more likely than others, Little Fee Leah (Sugar Plum Full Set) for example will definitely be my next bjd on layaway as soon as I finish paying off Little Fee Bisou (Girl Bear Full Set) while others like Volks Super Dollfie Rozen Maiden Suiseiseki is not as likely because while I like her, I don’t love her enough to justify the price. I also do not expect or even want to get every doll on this list, it would be way too overwhelming to have that many larger dolls ^^;

From right to left starting in the top row (I will work my way down from there)
1. Fairyland- Little Fee- Leah Sugar Plum Full Set
Pro- While she is very similiar to Ante (I own the first version of Ante) she is not another version of Ante, I love her stock and just everything about her.
Con- None, as soon as Bisou is paid off I intend on putting her on layaway immediately.

2. Fairyland- Pukipuki- Cupid 2- Basic
Pro- So adorable, pukipukis don’t take up that much space..
Con- I said I was done with pukipukis at three, if I allow myself a fourth one the floodgates may open >__<

3. Fairyland- Little Fee- Ante Petit Ange
Pro- I absolutely love her, she is too precious for words.
Con- I already have an Ante albeit another version..

4. Fairyland- Little Fee- Lishe
Pro- I love Alice
Con- Lishe might be too menacing to be my Alice

5. Volks- Super Dollfie – Nono
Pro- Absolutely perfect bjd
Con- I have no idea what I would do with her

6. Volks- Yo-SD- Lillie
Pro- Would make a perfect Kanaria to match my Hinaichigo Volks Yo-SD
Con- Not sure I really need a Kanaria might make me want to build the cast, not sure I want to open floodgate on that ^^;

7. Volks – Dollfie Dream (MDD)- Illya
Pro- My absolute most wanted, I adore her character and her as a doll.
Con- None (slight nag at the back of my brain that she is an odd size I haven’t handled before but I think I will get over it)

8. Volks- Dollfie Dream (MDD)- Louise
Pro- I love her vibrant character design
Con- Not really familiar with character

9. Volks- Dollfie Dream (MDD)- Al Azif
Pro- I love Al Azif, her doll form is too cute
Con- Indecisive about whether I like her or Etheldreda more seems to change depending on my mood, time of day, state of the moon

10. Volks- Dollfie Dream (MDD)- Etheldreda
Pro- I think I may like how Etheldreda turned out as a doll over Al Azif, I always seem drawn to the slightly darker characters
Con- Again indecisiveness about which one to choose, although I could almost justify getting both

11. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Feena Fam Earthlight
Pro- She is gorgeous, I already have Estel and I would love to take pictures of them together plus she would make it so Estel doesn’t stand out so much compared to the other.
Con- She’s pretty but is that enough to justify getting her?

12. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Erika
Pro- I really love her design pictures of her always draw me in
Con- I have absolutely nothing from this series, I am not familiar with it

13. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Asuka
Pro- Asuka is one of my all time favorite anime characters
Con- I kind of want to get Asuka & Rei at the same time which would be extremely expensive ^^;

14. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Rei
Pro- Gorgeous doll, Evangelion is one of my favorite series.
Con- I don’t like Rei as much as Asuka, while I could see myself getting Asuka by herself I can’t say about Rei

15. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Nia
Pro- I have two Yokos, of course I want a Nia ^^; Very unique doll
Con- I really dislike her eyes

16. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Saber Alter
Pro- If I was to get a Saber dollfie this would be the one
Con- I want Illya more than I want her, she’s actually pretty low on my wants list despite the fact that I already have Rin

17. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Fate
Pro- I love her character, the weapon, wig and stock are epic
Con- I hate her mouth sculpt ^^;

18. Volks- Dollfie Dream (DDY)- Escalayer
Pro- I love her expression, it’s so unique she makes a great doll in general
Con- Not really familiar with the hentai she comes from, I think she would kind of stick out with my other girls

19. Volks- Dollfie Dream- Mikuru
Pro- I ❤ Mikuru and it’s my favorite outfit of hers, I already have lots of epic picture ideas for her ^^;
Con- She couldn’t stay on her default body she would need a dynamite body, plus something seems to be lost in translation

20. Volks- Super Dollfie- Suiseiseki
Pro- Rozen Maiden dollfie, gorgeous doll and my favorite of the SD sized releases
Con- I like her but I am not in love with her, I would really have to be in love to pay $1500 +

21.Blythe- Ribbonetta Wish
Pro- Hello Kitty, favorite face mold and favorite hair color this blythe was made for me.
Con- She’s limited so price is a bit high.

22. Blythe- Ice Rune
Pro- She’s different from all of my other blythes, she just seems to have a special quality about her, high probability of my buying her
Con- She might be too different from my other girls, I have a lot of blonds already ^^;

23. Blythe- Aubrena
Pro- I love red haired blythes
Con- No matter how hard I tried I could not bond with my Adorable Aubrey

24. Blythe- Tarts & Tea
Pro- I’m an Alice addict, an Alice blythe would be epic
Con- She’s CWC limited so she will be rather expensive I fear ^^;

51/365-Pleinair-san Figure

Today’s picture of the day is another of my Pleinair-san figures. I rather like Pleinair-san’s character design but more importantly and the real reason why she was picked as today’s picture of the day is after spending all day running back and forth to my storage unit stowing away figure/doll boxes somehow the thought of deboxing another figure made me physically ill. Pleinair-san had the obvious benefit of already being deboxed, and was looking quite adorable on the shelf so I decided to grab her.

This picture of the day almost didn’t happen, I had a nasty fall on the way down my back steps and ended up going down an entire flight of stairs hard. Luckily nothing was broken, I dislocated a few things on the way down but everything was able to popped back in place and Pleinair’s car came apart in a few pieces luckily it popped back together fairly easily. I went back up to apartment and then after I took some meds for the blinding pain I decided it prudent to go down the front steps this time and grab a quick picture for today’s picture of the day.

PSA- Animadness Pullip Meet- 1/23/2010

Animadness is hosting another pullip meet. The meet will be on Saturday, January 23rd at 2-5 pm. Animadness is located in Waltham, MA. This will be the second meet at Animadness, you can read about the first meet in my write up here. Animadness is offering 10% off of all pullips/dals/taeyangs as well as a free re-ment with purchase of any pullip/dal/taeyang, they are also going to be having two raffles this time one for everyone and one for everyone that purchases a doll. I’m personally not sure if I will buying any dolls unless they have the January releases in stock, I don’t have anymore pullips/dals on my immediate wants list at the moment. There will be photo ops and probably a swap again as well. More information can be found here.

I will be attending this meet with zilla in tow, I will even make sure she brings along her blythe to the meet. I will be bringing along a suitcase full of pullips/dals probably a blythe or two as well as one of my Volks Super Dollfies and probably a Dollfie Dream or two so if anyone is in the area and wants to see what they look like in person this would be a good opportunity. Somewhat of note, present circumstances do not allow me to attend Anime Boston or Puddle this year even though I was really looking forward to both events I just can’t go 😦 . My schedule is fairly insane for the rest of the year, plus I am fairly anti-social in general (^^;) so this will be one of the few opportunities to actually meet me in person if anyone was wanting to. There is at least somewhat of a silver-lining to my not be able to attend Anime Boston or Puddle this year though, I am effectively being bribed a dollfie per a missed event (yay for guilt trips).

50/365- Black Canary Pullip Cosplay

My Black Canary Barbie came in the mail a few days ago, I unceremoniously stripped her earlier today and stole her clothes of one of my pullips. I’m not terribly familiar with Black Canary’s character in the comics, I always liked her character though. I was originally going to just have Azreal wear the outfit with her normal red wig but decided to make her cosplay a bit and borrowed a blond wig from one of my other pullips. I think Azreal makes a decent Black Canary. I am tempted to keep a pullip permanently as Black Canary but I fear she would horrible be outnumbered with the two Harley Quinns and Joker I have planned, as well as the Poison Ivy pullip I already have.

Dollfie Photoshoot

As previously mentioned, I took my twin Yokos out for a shoot today. I was all excited about Dollfie Dreams earlier in the day as I was just able to scrape together enough cash to get the Dollfie Dream head 4 that became available today on Volksusa’s website. Eventually, I will customize the head to become Komugi of Nurse Witch Komugi/ Soultaker.

I decided to change Yoko (omega)’s wig out to help differentiate the two, I can tell them apart (I can tell my 11 Papin’s apart) but I know it probably isn’t as easy for other people.

I didn’t really have any pictures of Yoko (omega) by herself before today ^^; I have her temporarily in a custom Kstarr wig.

49/365- Twin Yoko Dollfie Dreams

Today’s picture of the day is of my twin Yoko Dollfie Dream Dynamites: Yoko Alpha and Omega. I will upload more photos from this same shoot later and blog them but I wanted to share this little story now. I wanted a break from working on the apartment all day so I decided to go out for a dollfie shoot. It is very cold outside, there is snow on the ground and it is freezing outside plus it was kind of a lazy day besides so I put on a hoody and my coat over my hello kitty t-shirt and jeans. My helper who had been diligently helping me sort through all the boxes this morning came along as well to watch zilla will played around in the snow and got some pictures. He was waiting in the car all warm with the zilla when a van drove by, as I went to fetch different dolls/accessories out of my bag I noticed the same van driving back and forth down the street and almost slowing down kind of watching me. I am handling large dolls, I’m used to getting weird looks so I kind of blew it off and went back to posing the Yokos. I hear the van pull into the little parking lot and say something to my driver, then they got out of the van and began speaking to me. They told me there was a homeless shelter nearby, and that because of the cold weather I shouldn’t be outside >_< They thought I was homeless lol. I just kind of sat there awestruck for a moment before stammering something about I have an apartment within walking distance to here (the Indian Leap Falls if you are handy with the google). They got back in their van and left, as soon as they left my driver hopped out of the car and told me that they had asked him if I was his homeless daughter (wtf? especially since he is less than two years older than me) when he replied no they immediately went over to talk to me without waiting for any further explanation. The more I thought about it the more it was really a wtf situation, I had a $500 dslr camera around my neck and I was taking pictures of over $2k worth of dolls >_<

Storage Issues

I think it is safe to assume that I have outgrown my apartment. I love my apartment and don’t really want to move but I am running out of storage options. I remember when I first moved in and thought the place was huge and that I would never be able to fill it up, I apparently took it as a challenge. Although I have spoke about these issues before I have never really taken pictures of it before..

The closet, admittedly this doesn’t look so bad until you realize the dimensions of the closet. It’s only about 5ft tall by 4ft wide but it is 15ft long and it is packed throughout as tight as possible with doll boxes and figures boxes.

I already have two full storage units out in town and I really did not wish to rent a third so I have actually been piling the boxes from all of the newer acquisitions in my bedroom, this particular pile is in the corner of my bedroom and goes from floor to ceiling ^^;

The far side of my bedroom by the windows is actually inaccessible because I have so many boxes piled up ^^;

I bet you are wondering where I am going with this post, it is not going to result in a sales post although now that I know I am not going to Anime Boston this year I am considering selling the content of my trade box as at this point it is just taking up needed space lol. I spoke to my property manager on Friday, discussing my lease that runs out in a few months wondering if the one apartment larger than my own on the property might be available it doesn’t look like it would be available in the time frame I want but the property manager did inform I had forgotten about a free storage unit in the building of my apartment complex. I am going to use the storage unit to get the anime figure boxes that are currently in my bedroom out. I spent all morning sorting through them and packing them up to prep them to go into storage.

I made lots of discoveries in the process of packing everything like Super Dollfie/ Dollfie Dream shipping crates can hold nine standard nendoroid cases each.

I also decided that I am going to completely rearrange my apartment tomorrow as I don’t like the current layout. I am effectively going to move my living room into my dining room completely take over the living room area for use as my doll room and I haven’t quite decided where my dining room table is ending up, I eat at it so rarely I am tempted to just use it as a display place honestly at this point ^^; . I have more work to do with the boxes now but first I have to break down my pinky tree so I have a place to put all of these damned shipping crates of boxes ^^;

48/365- BJD- SD13 Nana

Today’s picture of the day is of my Volks Super Dollfie 13 Nana. I am sorry I have become so fixated on dolls as of late but it comes and goes in waves, next month I will be obsessed with Joker again or anime figures or video games or who knows what but this month definitely belongs to the dolls lol. I promise no dolly pictures of the day for the entirety of next week which shouldn’t be hard as I have a pile of unopened figures immediately to my left that are itching to be unboxed and photographed.

Keeping up with the doll theme, I will be eagerly watching Volks’ website tomorrow waiting for the #4 dollfie dream option head to pop up for sale as I feel that head would be perfect for project Kogumi when the time comes..

Arrival- Nana Super Dollfie 13

My surprise bjd arrived yesterday, well she didn’t really arrive so much as call ahead for a ride home. I was told I had a Volks Super Dollfie coming in the mail and given a tracking number, I had diligently been checking the tracking number as I was curious about this mystery bjd but they were not updating. The mail was delivered, no packages so I thought okay maybe she will be here tomorrow (today). On my way from work, I get a phone call from my postal distribution center she had just arrived there while she did not make it in time for a delivery yesterday I was free to come and fetch her if I liked. Of course, I made a quick u-turn and went to fetch her.

As I suspected I received a Volks Super Dollfie 13 Nana. Nana was a Dolls Party 6 exclusive and was released in February of 2002. Although she wasn’t what I ideally wanted (SD-Nono) I actually really like her although now I am kind of torn as I think she may actually make a better Utena than Mimi. I may actually end up swapping characters with Nana becoming Utena and Mimi becoming Lucy, I am still kind of in the preliminary phases. For now I have her in stock wig and Ryomou’s school uniform set until the To Heart outfit I ordered for her arrives in the mail, I will probably decide then who will be Lucy and who will be Utena (ironic they both have pink hair >_<).
