106/365- Superhero Fantasy

This past week’s theme for Dalicious was fantasy, I was kind of torn what to do but seeing how I was reading through a stack of comics I decided to draw some inspiration from the comics and have Kindle be a superhero. When I was little I wanted to grow up to be a super villain, I never did like the heroes as much I did the villains but I decided that having Kindle be a superhero would probably be a bit more well socially acceptable.

My Masterpiece Megatron was volunteered to play the villain, I somehow managed to get one without the orange cap (shocking!) my original plan was to have Kindle fight a Gundam but after thinking about how hard it would be to dig out one completed Gundam kits at the moment I started looking around and spotted Megatron who was super accessible. Kindle is wearing an outfit from one of my Cardcaptor Sakura dolls, I chose the outfit because it looked like something a super hero might wear. Ironically I believe the outfit is from the “big” episode where she turns into a giant to battle one of the cards I subsequently decided to play up the scale of both Kindle and Megatron by having a cityscape background and make them appear extremely large. That is Toronto in the background, in case anyone is wondering I took a bunch of photos of the city during my last trip there for some Comic/Horror/Anime convention a few years back.

105/365- Volks Suiseiseki BJD

I finally got around to actually getting a photo shoot in with my Volks Suiseiseki bjd yesterday. As much as I had looked forward to her, I somehow hadn’t had the opportunity to truly give her a photo shoot of her own up until now I have just been too busy lately.

Suiseiseki is a gorgeous doll, I love her face mold. I’m still in a bit of shock and disbelief that I got her for Valentine’s Day.

I love her eyes.

Of course, my little Hina Ichigo bjd is a cheeky little thing so she tagged along too even though it was supposed to be Suiseiseki’s turn in front of the camera.

WIP- Requiemart Custom Harley Quinn Pullip

Harley Quinn still isn’t home yet but Requiemart completed her hood today and she is now mostly complete. She isn’t home yet, she will be home fairly soon but I figured I should at least share the in progress picture of her today from requiemart (used with permission of course).

Pullip Harley Quinn seems to perfectly embody the character’s essence, seeing her in person is that much more freaky because requiemart truly nailed her likeness. I am literally dying of anticipation waiting for her arrival.

104/365- Cassiopeia Spice Blythe

Cassiopeia Spice is actually the first blythe I have got this year, the last blythe I got before this one was my Punkaholic People- Ellis whom I received as a Christmas present. I can’t believe that I have now been collecting blythe for over a year and am kind of awestruck that I now own 16 of them, I thought I was only ever going to have one then two then four and then things kind of escalated from there. I am still trying to stick to my ideal of having a maximum of 26 blythes one named for each of the letters of the alphabet.

I decided her name is to be Jenny. I am actually really glad I did get her as I absolutely love her coloring, I have a weakness for the color orange. She has a vintage vibe about her that perfectly seems to suit blythe.

103/365- Gundam Seed Little Pullip.. Wait what?

When she was announced I thought little pullip Ms. Green looked familiar, I wasn’t overly interested in her so I promptly forgot about her existence that is until I seen her on clearance a few weeks back and it clicked why she looked kind of familiar. Apparently Ms. Green has joined the Zaft Military, her motivation for doing so remains unclear is there some deep underlying hatred of the Earth Alliance buried deep in little pullips past? maybe she just happens to shop at the same store as the characters of Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny? maybe Groove was just being lazy with designs again and decided to “borrow” another anime character’s design (Nana oops I mean Rida I’m looking at you).

I have decided to name her Zala, I just couldn’t resist.

102/365- Comics <3

I started making a list of my comics today so I would have a handy field reference guide for when I am at the comic shop and not entirely sure if I have an issue or not. It’s not done yet as I still have to go upstairs and start tackling the pile o’ comics next to my bed (I like to read before I go to sleep) and I haven’t even started with the box sets with figures yet ^^; I’ve been collecting comics off and on for a little bit over a year, I like to try and keep a narrow focus on DC in particular Joker and Harley Quinn otherwise I see this hobby spiraling out of control. I think I have a fairly good cross-section of Batman/Joker comics I have read a lot more than I own due to a friend of mine having an absolutely massive collection that I can leech off of and read it beforehand to see if I will actually like it or not. I do read stuff other than Batman, but for the most part I know what I need/have of the other stuff so it isn’t as pressing to me at the moment as I am not actively hunting anything.

101/365- Lucky Star- Konata Mama Chapp

Only one day behind this time ^^; My Lucky Star Mama Chapp finally arrived in the mail yesterday. I have had a Tsukasa for almost a year now, I actually got her for my birthday last year I had been wanting another one for quite a while but whenever I looked none of the ones I had really wanted were up on Yahoo Japan at the time. Finally I found a reasonably priced Konata not realizing she came in her summer uniform versus her winter school uniform so she doesn’t match my Tsukasa but I am still super excited to finally have her. I think I did pretty well price-wise paying just slightly over MSRP for her before fees etc.

She is downright adorable, Konata is my favorite character from Lucky Star. When/if I get another I think I am going to go for Kagami to match Tsukasa. I had actually bid on a Kagami way back around Christmas time but I lost the auction unfortunately.

True to the anime, Konata is actually slightly shorter than Tsukasa. Konata’s lower legs are slightly shorter than Tsukasa’s and that is what makes the difference.

Month in review- February and Looking forward to March

A few days late but better late than never.

For such a short month February seen a lot of new dolls arrivals and comics, as well as some figures. I am still kind of in shock that I had three new bjd arrivals in the month of February, especially since one of them Suiseiseki was my grail doll that I though I would never be able to get. I did manage to catch back up with collecting all of the pullips/dals as I had fallen behind with Elisabeth’s release, I did pick up a few other dolls as well including the long awaited Papette (dal Papin) who exceeded even my hopes for being utterly adorable.

My goal for the month of March is to calm down a bit in spending, I spent way too much in January and again in February. On the positive side I actually decided to cancel all of my current Dollfie Dream preorders to make room for hopefully getting a K-On dollfie dream instead, the White Album dollfies were nice but I felt I didn’t really need them. I might pick up Rina up at a later date and time I really don’t know though, I am at the point where I really have to love something that large to allow it to come into the apartment as space is a serious issue at this point, there is simply no more room without shoving more stuff into storage ^^; .

No worries about my having nothing important to talk about in March as there is still a lot of stuff I haven’t opened yet and there is still a lot of stuff to in March…

100/365- Hope & Charity Custom Dals

After some mild frustration with the post office (they were insisting upon my having the pick-up slip which I never got) I finally brought my two little cutie pies home today. I had seen these delightful little darlings on Dolly Market a few weeks back and didn’t have all the money for them when they popped up but I contacted the owner who was rather adamant that two not be split be up and asked if she would hold them for me until my paycheck came and she agreed.

They are so adorable together, I don’t have the heart to separate them at all not even for photos so the two will always be pictured as a pair. Charity is the lighter skinned of the two and was formerly a Fiori that has been rechipped/rewigged and given freckles. Hope is an Another Solder Rabbit that has been rewigged and has added freckles.

I do consider them to be twins although it does appear they may be brothers from another mother so to speak (or sisters from another mister but that doesn’t sound as good).

East of the River Comic Books Collectibles Show and 99/365-Haul photo

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post it had come to my attention that there was a mini-comic convention going on in the Hartford area today so I decided to drive back up for the occasion. It was fairly small and held inside an auction house, I am glad I went though as I found some cool stuff and frankly I just go to cons for the dealer room anyway so it was nice to skip the foreplay and skip right to the conquest.

For such a small venue they had quite a bit of stuff probably 15 or so different comic book shops were in attendance, I didn’t photograph all the booths just the ones with semi-interesting stuff.

I came expecting to find a bunch of Joker stuff but I didn’t really find much interesting Joker things but I did find some other interesting stuff though.

I’m not really sure what this is, I mean I know it is from V for Vendetta (love the comics, like the film) obviously but it’s standard poster size but it’s framed and it is not poster paper material it has a certain texture to it and it almost looks like it was painted, at the very least it has some type of covering over of it. It also came framed, the seller thought it might have been used in a theater or something I’m not really sure but I thought it looked awesome was pretty unique and I managed to talk the seller down to a good price (it was pretty reasonable to start with but I like to bargain ^^; ).

The official 365 picture of the day the other stuff I got at the event. I actually bought most of the stuff from Buried Under’s booth the funny thing being I was just at Buried Under yesterday >_<. I bought the Kia Asamiya Catwoman and Riddler figures from them as well as the Ghost in the Shell 2 statue for about $33 all told definitely not a bad price. I picked up the Temjin robot figure on a whim from one of the other booths as I think some of the accessories may fit my Evangelion figures.. I did pick up some Harley Quinn comics from another booth, my theory being I might want to focus on getting all of Harley Quinn’s appearance first as I am really starting to come to the realization that the Joker is a rather prolific bastard and trying to collect every one of his comic appearances might just be utter madness.
