Danny Choo announced the winners in his latest contest $1070 giveaway. I didn’t win but I didn’t enter, my partner in crime did however enter my dollfie x figma picfic which tied for second place. Second place winners get $50 worth of JTD funds in their Japan to Door account plus one free year of Japan to Door Premier Membership Free (a $180 value) with a total value of $230. Since I did all the work, I get to choose what will be purchased and at this moment I am kind of clueless as to what will be purchased…

Simply Preordered: Blythes Edition

TL packages are apparently arriving tomorrow as nothing came today.

In a complete departure from yesterday’s unfeminine post, this post will be focusing on dolls. I received an email today from a friend of mine, saying that he had noticed that preorders had opened for new blythes with pink and green hair.. New blythes says I O_o? With fantasy hair? I must have missed the memo on that one. I immediately brought up TIB and went to the new releases section where there was a new topic announcing the two newest releases Simply Peppermint and Simply Lilac. I subsequently logged into HLJ and got my preorder on ^^;

Both blythes are RBL mold which makes me a bit ambivalent, it is my favorite mold but I was really hoping that a non-limited (re. not super expensive) FBL mold would be the next release. I will also point out now that my partner in crime is apparently colorblind as Simply Lilac’s hair is definitely lilac. Both come out in September and I am so super excited 😀

Transformers: Grimlock arrives.

I have a number of unfeminine pursuits, so many in fact I get the occasional email inquiring as to what my gender is O_o. I am a girl, I just happen to like video games, comics and the occasional Gundam kit/ Transformer ^^;

Which leads us to today’s post focusing on Transformers. I have somewhere between 30-40 Transformers currently in various different sizes/ styles/ vintages, I don’t really talk about them all that much though (some stuff like dolls I talk about more than others like my massive Invader Zim collection which I very rarely mention). I don’t even photograph the Transformers all that often ^^;

This was from the first and last time, I ever really took any of them outside. I am not even sure what possessed me to take out my Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Megatron (I somehow acquired the version without a cap so shhh!) that day.

Today my eagerly anticipated Masterpiece Grimlock arrived in the mail from BBTS, I had missed out on the original release so I wanted to make sure I got him this time. Grimlock will always hold a special place in my heart, not because he is my favorite (Starscream holds that distinction) but because the G1 version of him was my first transformer when I was a little girl.

Here he is with one of my other smaller Grimlock’s for scale. Grimlock consistently makes me laugh whether I am watching the old school animation or just looking at toys of him, I find the entire premise of his character absurd but I am inexplicably drawn to toys of him ^^;

Just a quick picture of him after I finally got him deboxed as I don’t want him to get lost in everything tomorrow (two fairly large TL packages are scheduled to arrive).

Another Doll Post

Due to my obsession with Alice in Wonderland, I have a weakness for any Alice related dolls therefore I felt like I was really missing a Mad Hatter. I currently have nine dolls in my Wonderland crew including four different interpretations of Alice and two white rabbits.

The custom Mad Hatter dress I commissioned from Angelberries is complete. It looks to be a perfect translation of the mini-dal’s stock outfit. I am very excited that now I will be able to have my a Mad Hatter of my very own now, now it’s just a matter of choosing which dal becomes the Mad Hatter.

In other exciting doll news, real life photos of Punkaholic People were revealed today. She has single-handily reaffirmed my affection for blythe, probably thanks to the fact that she looks quite a bit of a mini-me at the moment ^^;

I am in the process of going through another dolly purge, there is a doll I have been wanting for a long while and I finally found her for a somewhat reasonable price so I am letting go of some of my lesser loved dolls. Up for grabs are blythe (Saffy), pullips (Chill, a custom & Arietta), a dal (Hina Ichigo) and a bjd (Felixdoll Brownie- Allie), I might add more in the next day or two but I think that is it as that should give me more than enough to buy my grail doll. I have been too overindulgent lately especially since another DD was purchased recently, I am not going to allow myself to indulge again so soon without some form of penance. My grail is a Volks doll but not a dollfie dream this one is a proper bjd, if my plan to get my grail backfires I will probably buy another DD.

Damn exclusives

I still haven’t heard from my Wonder Festival connection yet so I am unsure what my success rate with my Wonder Fest orders has been ^^;

I did hear from my comic-con source though 😀 He was successful in acquiring me Lala the 300 LE comic-con exclusive pullip. I am so very excited to get my hands on her, so many thanks to my friend for helping me acquire her.

Holy backdated entry Batman! Suzumiya display

Due to circumstances beyond my control ie. injury and subsequent hospitalization I was unable to blog yesterday (the 26th) so I am having to backdate this entry by a day ^^; Please note if you are 250 some pounds perhaps crowd surfing at a Green Day concert is not the wisest idea, as you will land on the 4’10 girl’s head and she will get a concussion and she will not be happy at the prospect of having to spend the night in the hospital and missing the rest of the concert.

On with the entry… I painstakingly rearranged my Suzumiya display for some reason today.

This is most of my Suzumiya paraphernalia, I have a few more figures and towels around the apartment but this is most of it.

Recent Acquisition- Banpresto- Macross Frontier

These Macross Frontier Kyon Chara Ver. figures arrived in the Toyslogic package last week. They are pretty cute and they seem to be better quality than the other petit Banpresto figures, despite the fact that they are approximately the same size. Their stands are also a bit more flattering to the figure as well (Kallen’s stand in the other line is really unflattering).

They are all pretty cute, but to be honest I purchased the set because I wanted Klein Klang. She is my favorite character and the figure is an excellant representation of her.

Fun with Dollfies

I made a dollfie dream picfic yesterday. I had been planning this one well since I got Estel ^^; There was only one complication in my plan, I did not own a Ryomou figma. I spotted her on clearance on www.hlj.com so I tossed her with my order for the Angelique pullip (they both arrived a few days back). I ended up entering this in a contest on figure.fm (an off-branch of dannychoo.com). This was a bit of a rush job so please excuse the lighting. I may make more of these as this one was a lot of fun to make ^^;

New Dollfies Dreams announced…

Volks announced their two newest DD releases today, they will be available at Doll Party 4 in Nagoya (08/23/2009).

My favorite To Heart 2 girl, Sasara is being made into a Dollfie Dream Dynamite. I feel this is a really good translation of the character into dollfie, I also think they made a wise choice by giving her the dynamite body. If you are lucky enough to purchase at the event, you can pick her up at the mere price of 54,600 yen.

louise
Louise of Zero no Tsukaima is also getting the dollfie treatment. She is being made into a MDD, I am not sure if I agree with the proportions for her. She will be even cheaper than Sasara at 47,250 yen.

If I had a choice of one I would pick Sasara, even though I love MDDs and still don’t have one something looks kind of off with Louise in some of the pictures. It is unlikely I will be getting either any time soon though as I might have another dollfie on the way ^^; (I admit nothing).

Recent Acquisition- Angelique Pullip

Angelique arrived earlier today. I was not super excited about Angelique as she is from a show Neo Angelique that I am unfamiliar with. Before this release all of the anime collaborations were at least something I had heard of before but I have to confess this one comes completely out of left field for me. I don’t see it as being a popular enough anime to really support several doll releases but Jun Planning (well Grove now but when these were announced it was still Jun Planning) continues to baffle me with some of their choices.

She came with the absolute bare minimum, besides her stock all she came with is her stand and card. A little disappointing considering how much more expensive she is compared to a normal release.

She is kind of pretty, but she looks like so many other of the other more recent releases (Xiao Fan was the first one to come to mind) she doesn’t really stand out that much. I must say her stock is nicely made which is a welcome change.
