Arrival- Hello Kitty Pullip

My third Hello Kitty pullip arrived a few days ago. My first Hello Kitty pullip was named Emma but she later got customized and became Joyette, Requiemart was over for a doll meet one day and said she had free time to customize and that if I wanted the Jouet pullip I had suggested that it would be perfect timing. I had received a second Hello Kitty Pullip for Christmas last year but I had decided to keep her NRFB for the time being. When requiemart said Hello Kitty would make an excellent base for Joyette my original plan was to have the NRFB Hello Kitty customized but I felt badly about deboxing her just to have her customized and my original Hello Kitty’s curls were pretty well destroyed so I reluctantly decided to have Emma customized. My thought was the NRFB Hello Kitty would eventually get deboxed and become Emma but I kind of got attached to the idea of having her around NRFB, I had the idea in the back of my mind that I would eventually get another Hello Kitty some day. Unfortunately both Pullipstyle and VOTD sold out of Hello Kitty and both are pretty sure they will not be able to be restocked, making Hello Kitty one of the first pullips to completely sell out in years. I spotted a pretty decent deal on a nude/bald Hello Kitty and decided that if I ever wanted another Hello Kitty now was the time.

Luckily, Emma seemed to be an agreeable name for her. I rewigged her in a lavender tri-color mohair wig made made by requiemart. Even though I basically bought her because I missed having a Hello Kitty around to play with I am really glad I did because I had forgotten just how gorgeous she really is.

Stuff from the past week, my Toyslogic package arrived yesterday and various dolls that arrived throughout the week. Although they are not pictured I did also get several small things for my pullips like a new two-tone wig, various clothes and a ton of LPS.

27/365- Love Hina- Naru by Max Factory

I live in New England, it’s only around 20 degrees outside and that does not factor in the wind chill so I know this choice for picture of the day is kind of a strange one. I chose to have Naru as my subject matter for today’s picture of the day not because I miss the summer and am trying to think warm thoughts but because I received this figure as a Christmas gift a few years ago. Getting her as a Christmas gift especially from the person who gave it to me was rather unexpected, it was a really touching gesture but it had an odd effect on me – whenever I see this figure I automatically think Christmas. I actually got her as a gift from a fellow collector, I had given him some help finding some extremely hard to find/limited stuff so he wanted to do something nice for me and knew that she was one of my figure grails. The only strings that were attached to this gift was that I never reveal who gave it to me. I had wanted this Naru figure for years but could never quite justify the cost for her, yes she is gorgeous and always has been but her price on the secondary market for a while was really up there and well there were a lot of other figures out there to chase. I couldn’t believe just how gorgeous she was in person when she arrived.

April Pullip Releases Announced

April’s pullip/dal/byul releases were posted up on Groove’s Blog during the night. There does not seem to be any particular theme for April as the dolls do not seem to be related to one another in any way. The good news none of the releases are collaborations for once so prices should be cheaper 10,650 yen as opposed to March 13,650 yen per release. No one has opened up preorders on these just yet.

Tina is supposed to be a dal counterpart to Mir, when Mir was originally announced there was some information posted on Tina as well on Pullip.net as well as a matching byul and taeyang. Still no word on if the byul and taeyang will ever see the light of day. Of the three releases that were announced today Tina is the only one I am super excited about, I am sure I will love the pullip when I see her in person but the announcement pictures are not making me very excited about her.

Siry was the one byul, I was actually kind of excited about when byul was first announced and they showed a few pictures of her together with Pollon and Eris. Unfortunately now that mild excitement has died upon seeing more pictures 😦 I do like her stock and think it would make a fantastic Christmas dress for one of my dal’s next year, that is literally the only nice/positive thing I can think of saying about this release.

Wasn’t it supposed to be Taeyang’s turn this month in the rotation anyway?

26/365- Melissa Seraphy Wonder Fest Exclusive Nendoroid

Today’s picture of the day is of yet another of desk denizens (figures who have become permanent residents of my computer desk), Melissa Seraphy. Melissa Seraphy was originally the main girl from eroge game Wagamama Capriccio, she later made a cameo appearance in another of Unionsoft’s eroge games Chu x Chu Idol. This figure is based on her guest appearance in Chu x Chu Idol. I have always loved Melissa’s character design despite the fact that I am not particularly fond of eroge games for the most part. The photo in the background is a screen shot from Chu x Chu Idol.

This figure was a Wonder Festival Exclusive from Summer 2008, I managed to get her along with the Vocaloid nendoroid exclusive through a contact of mine at the time.

25/365- Pullip Noir and Taeyang Horizon

Loki arrived a few days ago, I had been wanting a Horizon ever since he was announced almost two years ago but somehow the opportunity to get him never really presented itself before. A few times I literally had money in my paypal account I had saved up specifically to buy Horizon but I always got distracted by something else once it was a sweet deal on an obistued Rovam, another time it was a gorgeous custom. For as long as I had daydreamed about him I was never exactly sure what I was going to name him or who I would pair him up with once he arrived. I toyed with the idea of pairing him with a few different girls, but then I put him next to Anarchy on the shelf and the pieces just seemed to click into place. Anarchy has been with me for a while now, normally she is one of my favorite pullips to photograph but recently I haven’t been photographing her as much. She unfortunately had a fairly bad mishap recently and had to be obitsued. Anarchy has always held a special place in my heart, I consider her to be the leader of my more sinister or evil dolls.

When I first got Anarchy I knew she would have a second in command named Loki, but Horizon isn’t Anarchy’s first Loki, I previously had two other pullips that were Loki. The first pullip named Loki was a rewigged Rida that I traded to Requiemart and the second was a custom by requiemart that I ended up trading away for my second Mitzi, Ivy. Neither of the other two Loki’s were really what I had envisioned for the role but I think this time Horizon may fit the role perfectly.

Arrival- Richt Taeyang

Although my Richt Taeyang actually arrived last week from Pullipstyle I have fallen behind in my blogging things as they arrive lately so I am just now getting to blogging him. He had peaked my interest ever since he was announced but I resisted the urge to preorder him only to end up buying him soon after his relief. Normally when a pullip or dal is released and I don’t have them preordered I experience a certain level of panic/uneasiness that I don’t have it yet but I normally don’t care all that much about the taeyangs, but as soon as this boy was released it was like I had a biological need to get him.

While I know he is supposed to be a member of a Visual Kei band, his pants seemed like they would be some pretty epic stripper pants. I decided to name him Rosiel, he is intended to be the brother of my Alexiel (rewigged Ala) both of them get their names from the anime/manga Angel Sanctuary. He is also the lover of Valhalla (Naomi).

He has already managed to work his way up the ranks to become one of my favorite boys, I think my favorite is still Hollis Heartspark (rewigged/rechipped Maguna) though.

24/365- Saikano- Chise- Kotobukiya

Anyone that has ever chatted with me in real life or even over aim/gtalk about anime for any amount of time knows that Saikano: The Last Love Song on this Little Planet is one of my favorite animes. It’s a bittersweet series but I absolutely love it. Unfortunately possibly due to subject manner, Saikano has never really had a ton of merchandise which I personally am not happy about as I think there was definitely a missed opportunity for potentially pretty awesome figures from the series. For today’s picture of the day I selected another of my desk denizens, Kotobukiya’s Chise figure. I picked this figure up at Anime Boston a couple years ago. It’s actually a fairly nice figure one thing that always struck me about this figure is it doesn’t seem like a Kotobukiya figure, there is a certain quality about it that makes it seem like it came from one of the better companies and not Kotobukiya ^^; I wish it was a bit more dynamic but overall I feel this is a fairly nice depiction of Chise, I love the details like her crushed and broken wing and I love the little band-aids on her knees.

PSA- TL offering sweet deal on pullips

This is a public service announcement to let you all know that it has come to my attention that Toyslogic is now offering an awesome deal on pullips. While toyslogic has carried pullips for a while, their prices were admittedly not the best (still reasonable but not the cheapest) their primary focus as a store has always been anime figures so I can personally understand why their prices weren’t as competitive as stores that focus solely on stocking pullips. I had been spreading the pullip love pretty much since I joined their forum when it was still in it’s infancy stages, so I probably had a bit of a hand in spreading awareness of pullips in general to the store and on their forum. Toyslogic has now decided to start stocking pullips on a more regular basis, they have also slashed their prices to not only be competitive with the two largest pullip retailers in the US: Pullipstyle and VOTD but to actually be cheaper in a lot of cases. The icing on the case is their cumulative offer of buy any seven pullips/dals/taeyangs/byuls and get the eighth pullip/dal/taeyang/byul at 50% off. I know seven pullips may seem like a lot at first especially if you are just starting to collect pullips but once you start you just can’t stop at one (this from the person who owns over 200 ^^; ). The only minor drawback is their major shipment of pullips isn’t due until next month, but they do have some dolls in stock now at awesome prices I know I will personally be stalking their recently in stock items list waiting for Papin to come in stock…

Again I do not generally advertise sales unless it is a company I feel really comfortable dealing with myself but I have personally done tons of business with toyslogic with very few complaints (which honestly with amount of business I have done with them is astonishing). I actually preordered my first non-Rozen Maiden pullip Aquel (Annabell Lee) from them years ago and have bought some additional dolls from them throughout the years.

And yes I totally jacked their sales banner without permission :O

23/365- Nurse Witch Komugi- Komugi- Wave

My Nurse Witch Komugi figure finally arrived today after a very long wait as she came from HLJ via SAL. Checking back through here I realized I ordered her in late October, I hadn’t even realized I had been waiting quite that long for her O_O. Komugi for those of you don’t know was originally from the rather bizarre anime Soultaker, she turned out to be such a popular character they gave her own OVA Nurse Witch Komugi. I have always adored her character design, she is just too adorable for words. While I do own either all or most of the art books featuring Komugi I never actually bought any of the figures, (edit: scratch that I do have the Yujin figure of her in a bathing suit I just forgot as it has been boxed up for a while ^^; ) a move I have since come to regret 😦 . As soon as this Wave figure was announced my interest was peaked. I preordered then I waffled and canceled her only to end up buying her anyway. It’s a really cute figure of her, I think I may even have to retire one of the current figures on my desk to make room for her.
