Dolly Japan Exclusive: Pullip Alura

Groove also teased another doll on their blog earlier today! Pullip Alura is another collaboration with British Pullip photographer Laura who previously collaborated with Momolita and Mitsubachi to bring us Pullip Laura. This new girl Alura has the same make up style as Seila and Laura so it is very fitting that Alura’s name is an anagram for Laura.
Alura is said to be a Dolly Japan magazine exclusive how these types of things normally work is there is an order sheet in the magazine, you mail it in with your money and you get your item a few months later (I know this from years of experience with anime figure magazine exclusives). There is no word on release date just yet, I will be sure to update as more details become available. I am hoping that JPGroove is able to offer her for distribution here in the US so those not in Japan that don’t have access to the magazine are able to get her as well.

Sailor Moon x Pullip – Sailor Uranus & Sailor Neptune Pullips Revealed!

Groove has revealed the next two dolls in the Sailor Moon x collaboration series via their blog last night. Not a lot of details have been released about Sailor Uranus (blonde) and Sailor Neptune (green hair) yet, they do not have a set release date but I am guessing they will probably be released in the June or July time frame. There is also no word on MSRP but I assume they will be 17000 yen like the majority of the other Sailor senshi. Both dolls will be on display at Doll Show 43 Spring on May 5th, I really hope that some good photos from the show surface so we can get a closer look at these two!

I think both dolls look utterly fantastic so far! I look forward to getting a closer look at them in subsequent promotional photos.

I’m not really back yet, I’m still dealing with a lot of real life stuff at the moment but I was excited by this announcement when I saw it so I wanted to share it as soon as possible and frankly I NEED the distraction right now.

Rest in peace Chelsea!

I’ve been grappling with the decision whether or not to post this here for the past couple of hours. I generally do not like to post about my private life at all. On October 26th my sister-in-law Chelsea Bruck went missing after attending a Halloween concert/party in Newport, MI I had posted about her disappearance previously. Happy endings don’t exist, a body was found on Friday and law enforcement confirmed earlier today that it was Chelsea’s. The Monroe News has more details than I care to really go into in their article here.
Chelsea Chelsea was one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever known, I just can’t even process this right now it’s so surreal. I’m so sorry Chelsea, please know that you were loved and you will be missed dearly that doesn’t begin to do you justice but we love you and we haven’t stopped thinking about you the entire six months you were missing. I’m going to be away for a few days while I try and make sense of all this, I just can’t do this right now.

Pullip & Isul MIO (Make It Own) Kits now in stock on Pullipstyle!

I know everyone always seems to be desperately searching for the Make It Own or MIO kits, so I wanted to share that the Isul as well as the tan Pullip MIO kits are now in stock on Pullipstyle. If you somehow don’t already know about Make It Own kits, they are blank dolls kits ideal for customizing. These kits are insanely popular so I would not expect them to stay in stock for very long, if you want them I would not hesitate to order them as last time the Pullip kits were in stock they sold out within a week.

Byul Clorinda

Sometimes I feel like I am one of the few people who genuinely love Byul, she definitely isn’t the most popular member of the Pullip family of dolls BUT her designs are consistently some of the most interesting in the Pullip family especially when she is released as a part of a set. There have only been four Byul releases over the past two years and it’s been over a year since latest release Byul Fata came out.

Clorinda is a part of the Starry Night Cinderella series, Byul was aptly cast as one of Cinderella’s evil step-sisters (sadly her Dal counterpart was never released). She was released in July of 2013 alongside her fellow Cinderella alum Pullip Dahlia Cinderella (pre-transformation Cinderella) and Isul Fairy Lumiere (Cinderella’s fairy godmother). Clorinda’s original MSRP is 14000 yen.

Pullipstyle recently placed Byul Clorinda in their perplexingly named Friday Sale section, slashing her price down to a mere $70. I had been admiring and wanting her for quite some time but not quite enough to pay the $110 she had been priced at, as soon as I saw that she had been placed on special I ordered her!

After a bit of a delay Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) Taeyang Sebastian Book of Circus version and Pullip Laura are now in stock on Pullipstyle.
Dal Sailor Chibi-Moon from the Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration series is now available for preorder via Pullipstyle here. She is priced at $127.95 and set for a late June release. She is also available for preorder via JPGroove.
Isul Ciel from the Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) collaboration series is also now available for preorder via Pullipstyle here. He is priced at $127.95 and set for a late June release. Ciel is also available for preorder via JPGroove.
Pullipstyle is running a sale special on certain dolls, I’m not quite sure why they chose to call it the Friday Sale as the sale does not seem specific to a day of the week but there are a lot of really great deals to be had there. I was really happy to finally be able to buy two girls off of my lesser priority list because their prices were too good to resist any longer! I placed an order for Pullip Milk Latte and Byul Clorinda tonight so look forward to seeing reviews of them in the not too distant future.

Anime Boston 2015

This past Saturday, I attended Anime Boston. If I have done my calculations correctly this year is my seventh year in a row attending and my ninth overall Anime Boston. It ended up being kind of an odd year this year, not necessarily a bad year but we got a late start due to us deciding to watch an episode of the old Sailor Moon series on blu-ray while we were getting our con stuff ready…. eight episodes later, it was suddenly almost four in the morning and we were wondering where the time had gone. Parking was an issue and my camera lens even decided to get it on the action and decided to have issues as well, I eventually managed to fix it but I didn’t get as many pictures as I would have liked this year. Even with the odds seemingly stacked against it it still worked out to be a pretty good year all in all just a little different than what we expected!

Now then let’s begin….

At these prices it’s easy to be tempted by a lot of the dolls. Myself, I’m particularly tempted by Classical Mad Hatter who is the only Isul still on my wishlist at the moment as well as Pullip Milk Latte who has been on my wishlist for a while.

Kuroshitsuji ~Book of Circus~ Isul Ciel Smile Version

Yesterday I was musing that we have not seen a new Isul in quite some time much to my surprise, Pullip.net posted up a new Isul for preorder early this morning. Groove has not officially released any of the details of his release via their blog yet but Pullip.net lists him as a May release which if accurate is kind of short notice for a preorder (no word on MSRP yet).

The new Isul is Ciel Smile version, he is based off of the character Ciel’s appearance in the Book of Circus arc of the Kuroshitsuji anime/manga. In the Book of Circus story line, Ciel and Sebastian join the circus to investigate some strange happenings related to the circus during that time Ciel uses the name Smile as an alias.

Groove has previously worked with Kuroshitsuji on a series of collaboration dolls based on the series, it is of note that two other dolls of Ciel as well as a mini doll were released as a part of the original collaboration. Prior to the this release Ciel has always been portrayed as a Dal by Groove, the original collaboration debuted well before Isul did so I wonder if Ciel would have always been an Isul if he had been around at that time of the original collaboration.

Sailor Moon x Pullip Collaboration series- Dal Sailor Chibi Moon announced!

Groove finally released details about the newest doll in the very popular Sailor Moon x Pullip collaboration series Dal Sailor Chibi Moon via their blog. Sailor Chibi Moon is the eighth doll released as a part of the Sailor Moon collab series. She is the first Dal released as a part of the Sailor Moon series as well as the first Dal released in nearly a year… now if only we could get more Isuls and Byuls!

The little soldier of love and justice is set for a June release and has a MSRP of 17000 yen.
