Doll Updates- BJD edition

Fairyland announced about half a dozen new little fees including a new version of Ante and the super adorable Bisou. Little Fees are the perfect sized resin bjd for me and I really love my 1st edition Ante but none of the other releases until now really lived up to her in my opinion. Now I find myself torn between the two of them.. Ante!elf on the left and Bisou on the right.

I plan on asking for one of them for Christmas, but I am torn between the two of them. I love both of their face ups so it is a hard choice. Ante!elf is gorgeous, I utterly adore my 1st edition Ante but I fear she may be too similiar in a way. I love her stock outfit but I am not sure how useable it really will be and her wig worries me a bit (looks high maintenance). Bisou is more casual which is kind of a double edged sword, you seem to get less for the price but the outfit is adorable and I have a weakness for hoodies. I am not sure how well Bisou would match Marie but at the same time she might offer more versatility. I am sure whoever I choose will make me happy but since I can only get one for Christmas I hope I choose the one that represents my greatest chance for happiness.

December Pullip Releases Announced

December’s releases were announced and I have to say, I am for the most part not impressed.

Pullip- Aya

I am sure she will be gorgeous redressed but I am not impressed with her stock at all and her wig looks like a nightmare waiting to happen. Her entire stock seems cheap and like something that would come off of a barbie, worse yet one of her gimmicks seems to be that she has a removeable skirt to take her outfit from formal to semi-formal, kind of like the new Barbie and Three Muskateers dolls it bothers me that they are using such a cheap gimmick.

Dal- Sakura

By far my favorite of the three dolls. She is kind of cute and she has the nicest stock of the three

Byul- Maya

The Byul scares the living hell out of me, she looks a cariculture of the Olsen twins. I am semi-desirious of her shoes but that’s it. I am not a fan of byul in general but none of illicited the kill it with fire response that this one has in me.

More Yoko DD photos

I took my new Yoko DD out yesterday and again today for photos.

Yesterday, I went to a location with a waterfall. I hopped the fence with Yoko in tow and climbed out on the rocks for a few photos, I also learned to think ahead-five inch heels are not exactly the correct footwear for this endeavor.

Unfortunately I arrived right at dusk so I didn’t have much time for photos so I decided to take her out again today.

Today, I took Yoko to one of my favorite dollfie shooting locations.

I also decided to bust out Yoko’s shades for today’s shoot.

This is the same tree that I previously took pictures of Rin in.

It took me a good half an hour to set up this photo and to get her to actually balance in the tree with the gun.

Getting her this pose was well worth the effort though as I loved the photographic results of it.

Not a whole lot to say to say today, spent most of the day playing Batman: Arkham Asylum ^^;

More comics and Arkham Asylum

The stuff I got other than Yoko yesterday and Arkham Asylum which arrived this morning via UPS.

The Legends of the Dark Knight Gift set arrived probably some time over the weekend it came via Fed Ex I just happened to notice it sitting on the porch yesterday, it looked like it had been there a few days >_<. I visited a semi-local comic book shop (ie. about an hour away) and purchased Gotham: City Sirens issues 1 and 2 as well as the Joker bust. The semi-amazing thing is I got all three items (both issues of the comic and the bust) for $25 before tax, the owner let me have the 1/4 scale Hot Toys Joker bust for $20. At that price the bust needed to join my growing Joker display. I read both issues of Gotham: City Sirens last night and really enjoyed them, plus it answered the one of the age old mysteries for me about the rogue's gallery. That particular mystery was how the villains found their hideouts..

It’s such a throwaway little thing but it amused me to no end as I was also intrigued that the villains never seemed to have any trouble finding new hideouts (or my other big one is where and how do they recruit henchmen, the ones where the villains are motivated by money I can understand but the ones where there true goals are just chaos and anarchy make me wonder what their pitch speech is).

Arkham Asylum also showed up today so I have been busying myself tearing through that, I am absolutely in love with the game. I love everything about the game, I am having way too much fun with it ^^; Normally I would have opted for the 360 version (I own pretty much every video game system retro all the way up through modern) but the ability to play as the Joker brought me over to the PS3 side, I guess it is good that it is finally getting some use other than a blu-ray player ^_-

Dollfie Family Photos

Upon the arrival of Yoko, I got the itch to do new family photos.. I took a few quick pictures inside which led me to the conclusion that I am going to have to get a bigger couch if I want to continue to do family shots of everyone on the couch together I only have room for two more.

Please ignore the random stuff in the background ^^;

I am kind of torn as to whether or not my beloved little Hinaichigo should be in the dollfie family photos with her much bigger sister, she is volks and a dollfie but she is a super dollfie proper and not a dollfie dream. So I included her in some photos but not all of them.

I had really been hoping to go out for a proper shoot but I didn’t get the chance today so I had to settle for more back porch shenanigans.

I find it somewhat hilarious that Hina is still shorter than her big sisters in this photo despite the fact that she is standing, while they are sitting.

I am hoping to go out for a proper shoot with Yoko tomorrow.

Whenever I get a new DD in, I get the urge to buy another but I am trying to be good at the moment. I am really trying to only get one more this year and that one will hopefully be a custom as I can not see Volks releasing a Dollfie of her although Gainax did announce today that they would make two new OVAs…

Yoko DD Get

My Yoko Dollfie Dream arrived this morning, I preordered her way back in April from VolksUsa’s website. UPS actually called twice yesterday to make sure I would be home to sign for her. Yoko was well worth the wait.

Her box is completely different from all my other dollfie dreams. Her body is also somewhat unique, she lacks the definition of the other girls but that could because she is still an adolescent.

I took a couple of quick pictures of her out on the back porch, hopefully I will take her out for a full shoot later on today (kind of busy today).

I am really happy with her 😀 I am not sure if my love of her will surpass my love of Ryomou but it is close..

New package arrives, HLJ shipping rant (problem with EMS)

I received a package from Hobbylink Japan today.

I bet you are wondering why I labeled this as a shipping rant from the above photo. Well this package was sent via ems and cost me almost $50 for shipping which is understandable, what isn’t acceptable is this..

Now if this was SAL I would be more understanding, this would still be the worst damage via shipping but I would at least somewhat understand that you get what you pay for but in this case I paid quite a bit for a shipping and got damaged merchandise.

Two of the other boxes were slightly damaged, if the Belldandy figure hadn’t been damaged I probably wouldn’t have brought it up but at this point I am feeling a bit nit-picky.

I emailed HLJ with pictures within ten minutes of opening the package as I was pretty upset about the condition of the Belldandy figure box, I have yet to receive a response will update this post if I do receive a response.

On the bright side my Joker & Be@rbrick arrived in immaculate condition.

Edit: HLJ just wrote back basically told me to piss off, said to take the package to the post office and try to do a claim through them because it wasn’t HLJ’s responsibility as it was merely “cosmetic damage”, the fact that the box was poorly packaged by them is now apparently the USPS’s fault (their were only two bags of air and the box everything was shipped in was pretty oversized for what was actually in it). It was not packaged as well as any of the other packages we have ever got from HLJ and that is why stuff got damaged during shipping. I am strongly considering cancelling my remaining preorders with them.

Baby Godzilla's first birthday

For those of you who don’t know, I actually have a daughter who has recieved the nickname Baby Godzilla (or sometimes just zilla child) because of the general amount of chaos and havoc she likes to rain down on my anime figure and doll collections (that and she growls- the doctor assures me that is perfectly normal behavior but it is still hilarious to hear her growl when running off gleefully with one of my dolls/figure in tow).

Of course, being my child she wasn’t even a day old when she watched her first episode of anime (Code Geass) and one of my dolls was even sneaked into the hospital (not by me, someone actually went back for it without even being instructed to do) for a photo op. I am really not trying to force anime on to her but at the same time it is everywhere in the apartment, the cieling in the nursery for example is covered with Chobits posters.

At first there wasn’t too much of a problem with her getting into everything as she wasn’t too mobile but once she figured out how to crawl we started having issues especially with the blythes…

I am not sure why she loves the blythes so but she absolutely loves to get a hold of them for a good chew session so much so I have selected one of them to be the designated chew doll (I discourage her from chewing on them in general but sometimes when she gets really rowdy it is better to hand her one than for her to start climbing up the shelves and start knocking everything down in an attempt to get one down herself).

Zilla child’s wave of destruction really ramped up when she learned how to walk, she has already learned how to get past the baby gates so all of the more limited/fragile figures have to be placed up as high as possible. I have long since accepted that while I can take as long as three hours to reset a single shelf she can destroy the same shelf in around 30 seconds. She really loves the lower shelf of my Suzumiya display, I swear it gets hits daily T_T

She turned one on Sunday so I decided to take another picture of her to share (I photograph her daily but I rarely share pictures of her online re-concerns for privacy also why I am not sharing her actual name anywhere on this post) with Clementine (the same pullip that visited her in the hospital, she is my personal favorite of all my dolls). I had to quickly snatch Clementine away less she be chewed upon. Note the decimated figumates in the background..

As far as her actual birthday went, she got several anime plushes including Ein from Cowboy Bebop and a Mokona from Tsubasa to add to her ever growing collection.

Recent Arrival- Froggy (custom pullip)

Froggy was customized by blue_wysteria . Froggy is customized to be a full sized version of the super cute mini pullip- Little Froggy. Here’s my Little Froggy- Tadpole (who is currently out on loan at the moment, I will explain why later in this post).

Froggy was originally purchased by Papermoonpixie, I had seen pictures owner pictures of her by Papermoonpixie and fell in love with her but never dreamed she would be put up for sale. She was put up for sale over this past weekend so I pounced.

She makes an excellent translation from mini to full-sized she is just so cute. Her frog suit is actually really well-made and is of nice quality.

Ironically, I was so enamored by the mini pullip Little Froggy that I recently commissioned a dal to made her to like-ness as there had already been a pullip. The dal as well as the mini are still at the customizers at the moment. Up until this point I thought I never had a chance at owning Froggy so I had just planned on calling the dal Froggy (I had never named the mini) but due to my actually getting Froggy I needed to rethink things.. So from now on Tadpole is the little pullip, Pollywog is the dal (once she arrives) and the pullip is Froggy.

Comics..

While out and about today I stopped at a comic book store not my normal store but they had a copy of Whatever Happen To The Caped Crusader (Part 1 of 2) Batman 686 still sitting on the shelf, I picked it up as I have had a copy of part 2 (Batman: Detective Comics 853) for months now.

Just a note that I am not hardcore into comics, I pick up stuff as it interests me. I just very recently got back into collecting comics earlier this year. I find I tend to prefer the villians over the good guys with my favorite of course being, the Joker. I prefer DC over Marvel which is actually quite a bit of a flip from my youth ^^; I mostly read Batman comics these days because of the aforementioned love of the Joker but I also love Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Sin City.

Once I actually got home, I started digging through various papers on my desk as I knew I still had some unused giftcards laying around. After finding aforementioned giftcard I ended up making a small-ish order for more comics, I ended up ordering..
