154/365- Fate/Stay Night- GSC Saber vs Rider

I decided to do something a little different and pit two of my figures against each other in mortal combat. The combatants are both made by Good Smile Company and are from Fate/Stay Night.

As dynamic and awesome as Saber’s pose is, it is awesomely awkward on the shelf and it unfortunately takes up a lot of room ^^;

I don’t have many figures of Saber in her full armor and there are just not many Rider figures in general.

I love the flow of Saber’s dress under the armor. Rider’s hair is also pretty amazing.

153/365- K-on – Yui Nendoroid

I don’t watch a lot of the newer anime these days, K-on is kind of an exception although I haven’t watched all of it as of yet. K-on is mostly just cute, it’s not a hugely thought provoking show but it is cute and entertaining.

Yui is my favorite character from K-on, I love her character design and her personality. If I was ever to get a K-on dollfie it would definitely be her over Mio.

I love her little guitar, it’s really well-made.

152/365- Vocaloid Petit Race Queen Nendoroids

I decided to pick up the Vocaloid Petit Race Queen nendoroids on something of a whim, I was shopping for the normal set of Vocaloid petit nendoroids when these caught my eye. After losing an auction for a case of the regular petits I decided to buy these instead and the next day I ended up buying the regular petit nendoroids as well. Even though they were a whim driven purchase, I am pretty happy with them as they are just so adorable.

I love their race queen outfits.

It’s amazing the amount of details they can give such a tiny little figure.

151/365- Vocaloid petit nendoroids and other new arrivals (blythe for sale ^^;)

I got a flood of packages today, including my Vocaloid petit nendoroids. Honestly they were what I was super excited for and really waiting for although I did not expect them to arrive quite so quickly.

The petit nendoroids were by no means today’s only arrivals…

– Vocaloid- Petit Nendoroid case
– Vocaloid- Petit Nendoroid Race Car (white) set
– Gurren Lagenn- Yoko and Nia Sega Prize figure
– To Heart 2- Ilfa figure
– Blythe- Lounging Lovely (more on her further down the post..)

I had been wanting this HMX-17a Ilfa figure since she was announced, I am kind of glad I waited on her. I had wanted to preorder her when she was almost $100, I would have been very upset if I bought her then honestly. She is an okay figure but I am okay with the price I paid for her around $30 (I think). In theory, I like this figure’s pose and I love the character but something is just lacking in execution. She is bigger than I anticipated somehow I had a bit of a disconnect and was picturing her as a demure 1/8 but she is a fairly hulking 1/6, I think I would have preferred her as a 1/8. The cast-off gimmick is not doing her size any favors, the layers of clothing just make her like kind of chunky ^^; It’s still a cute figure but I feel somewhat disappointed with her.

Remember I mentioned there would be more on the blythe further down in the post? Unfortunately right now, I am in the depths of a dollfie fever. I am a fickle blythe owner and I fear another dollfie purchase may be on the horizon soon. Since I am not exactly feeling the lovely Lounging Lovely back out the door she must go. I have her listed on various blythe forums, etc. but in case anyone here is interested she is $165 shipped within the US. I really don’t want to ship internationally but I might if I get the right offer. Not really looking for trades either at the moment unless you have an Ice Rune, in like condition or a Fairyland Pukipuki… Contact me for further details.

150/365- Dal Tina (Gehenna)

While I neglected to get last month’s pullip and dal, and I further neglected my duties by not even getting this month’s pullip (^^;) I did manage to acquire this month’s dal Tina. Tina is from the same Chinese ghost story line of dolls that Mir is from, she was seen in promotional images around the time Mir got announced but there was no release date announced so I was starting to think she would remain an unproduced prototype forever. She came out almost a year after Mir (was she June or July of last year I can’t remember anymore?), I was always a big fan of Mir so while I felt I could wait on the other recent releases I could not wait for this little darling.

I decided to name my Tina, Gehenna. I really love her but I am not sure if I am just unlucky or something but mine’s wig was horrible, which is kind of a disappointment because most of the newer doll’s wigs have been really good quality. I love her face up, it reminds me of Mir without her being a direct copy, it looks like they belong together and compliment each other well. Her stock was pretty nicely made.

I’m kind of liking the new almost more severe looking dals, it’s a nice change of pace to see some variety other than cute and sweet.

I love, love how well she compliments Mir.

149/365- Jouet Dal Gelato

I decided to actually dress up my little dal tomboy Jouet like a girl for once. I unintentionally made the photo a bit more revealing of my location than I intended but you would have to be really good or from around here to know approximately where I live, I think.

Gelato is probably one of my favorite dals, she is unfortunately fairly limited otherwise I would probably have twins or more of her at this point. I love her pink girly make up but that she still manages to be a tomboy with a cute short hair cut.

Taking Photo Requests, maybe questions

While I dislike writing reviews, as I find the system somewhat flawed I do like sharing pictures here. A picture is worth a thousand words, I would rather people look at my pictures and judge for themselves whether or not they like the figure than me ramming my opinion down their throat. I like being helpful, so I don’t mind taking reasonable photo requests…it’s been a while since I have actively opened things up for requests here so if anyone has any doll/figure photo requests please comment and I will do my best to fulfill photo requests in a timely fashion. A list of most of my figures can be seen here Tsuki-board, lists of dolls can be seen on the side tab things on this blog. Please be reasonable with requests pictures of ___ figure are acceptable omg group shot of all of my figures is not, I reserve the right to refuse to do photo requests.

148/365- Blythes- Simply Guava and Simply Mango

My blythe simply twins from HobbyLinkJapan arrived yesterday. The Simply line of dolls seems to be taking place of the Primadolly line (except for the limiteds Primadolly Paris etc.) which are supposed to be the more reasonably priced dolls that come with less stuff and are supposed to be ideal for customizing. There has been some debate in the blythe community whether these dolls were made to satiate the masses’ lust for the limited blythes Primadolly Marigold and Primadolly Peony.

I love blythes with fantasy hair so of course as soon as they were announced I knew I would have to get them at some point as they were too awesome of releases to pass over. I am picky about what blythes get to join the family and even pickier about which blythes get to stay long term (I have rehomed 10 blythes).

For those unfamiliar with blythe and for reference’s sake Simply Mango is the one with orange hair and Simply Guava has pink hair.

I decided to give them both fruity names, as soon as I deboxed her I knew Simply Mango was Tangy Tangerine but Simply Guava gave me a little trouble. I knew she would be ___ Raspberry and after going through various R adjectives it was decided her name was Radical Raspberry. Righteous Raspberry was a very close second choice (if I ever get a Peony!).

I like how well they compliment each other.

I love orange so of course I am absolutely in love with Tangy Tangerine.

I like Radical Raspberry a lot more than I thought I would at first, I still find myself wishing she had less bare lips. I would have loved to have seen a nice pink lip on her..

147/365- Akikan-Melon Figure by Megahouse

Apparently there is an Akikan anime? I never heard of it before a few days ago but from what I hear I didn’t much apparently. I originally had preordered this figure, but it got canceled in the great schism of 2009. I preordered it based on sheer cute-ness honestly I didn’t care what the figure was from it was just cute and I wanted it but I ended up having to cancel it. I had kind of forgotten about Melon until I happened to see her on sale at HobbyLinkJapan for only slightly over 2500 yen. I finally decided it was time to get her.

I think it was the mixture of her joyful expression and the colors on this figure that finally did me in. I love how cute her expression is. Green and orange are my favorite colors, both colors are pretty rarely seen on figures so it was nice to see a cute green themed figure.

She’s cute but I wish she could hold her damn can of melon soda, I feel like I am going to lose the thing in a heartbeat.

Announced: Innocent World x Pullip Collaboration for July

The July releases were announced last week, pullip is collaborating with another Japanese Lolita clothing company. This time pullip is collaborating with Innocent World. The dolls are all available for preorder through their site but they do not appear to be exclusives as other stores have mentioned them already, the outfit set may be an exclusive though.

Tiphona reminds quite a bit Xiao Fan, Xiao Fan is a gorgeous doll so that isn’t necessarily a bad thing just maybe a bit boring ^^; Her stock appears to be flawless and very well put together, I love the design of the clothes as well as colors/the fabric choices. It’s so nice to see pullip in something other than super pink lolita (Angelic Pretty releases- so pink it’s scary!). The doll itself, seems a bit underwhelming she seems to be a missing a “spark” and seems kind of lifeless. Just a pretty doll no real personality.

Clair is the dal, she is somewhat unremarkable, she’s cute and all but that wig is problematic I can feel it already. I don’t like her stock as much as the pullip’s it looks a tad severe on dal.

In theory I like the byul Hermoine better than the dal, I would have loved to have seen their wigs and stocks switched. I really love her stock, she almost tempts me to go to the byul side..

For the first time in years, an extra corresponding outfit is being released as well. Outfit sets used to be periodically released but some were not very popular, eventually ceased production of the outfit sets in 2006 (I think, it may have been 2005). The outfit set is 4,200 yen and consists of a white parasol as well as a gorgeous coat for pullip. It’s a nice idea but it seems kind of pricey to me.
