Doll Meet and Arrival-Dal Erenfried

I went and visited Requiem a few days ago for a doll meet.
Ready to go out on the town
We went to the fabric store for fabric for a dollfie kimono. I brought Estel along in one of Requiem’s bag to assist in choosing a fabric (ended up with something un-kimono-like but I like it so :P) I learned how to make dollfie kimono during my visit, I am currently working on finishing it off myself so no pictures yet. I brought home my custom DD head with me, I still need to take pictures of it too.

I always love looking at Requiem’s custom dals. All but the second one on the left are her customs (she is my Jouet who is visiting for another reason). Her pullip to dal customs are really amazing they look just like the stock pullip and especially in the case of Princessa they look even better than the stock pullip.

Requiem normally has a backlog of dolls around just waiting to be customized. She had somehow acquired an Erenfried in her to be customized pile, she offered to trade Erenfried to me for any other pale dal but I lacked any that I was willing to get rid of. We managed to find a cheap Jolie online so I funded her as a substitute for Erenfried in the bait pile and took Erenfried home with me. I have named her Bijou after the cocktail. I need to give her a proper shoot of her own the only thing I really had to dress her in was Princess Ann’s other outfit.

Arrival- Princess Ann Pullip

Princess Ann was unceremoniously dumped on my front porch yesterday by Fed Ex. I just happened to spot the package lying there while on my way out to the doll meet with Requiemart. I live on the fifth floor and I didn’t feel like dragging her all the way back upstairs so I just tossed her in my car then deboxed her at Requiem’s house.

DSC03399
Princess Ann is based on the character played by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Roman Holiday. I’ve seen the film but it was probably 15 years ago so my recollection is a tad hazy though. Anyway unto to the doll, while her face up is gorgeous, her wig was visibly bad while still not removed from the box. Her wig was so horrible after I finished deboxing her I immediately rewigged her with a cuter wig the same color and a similiar style but a much better quality. Other than her wig, most of her stock and accessories are really nicely made with the exception of her necklace which has no clasp so it can’t really be used as there is no way to get it on her (it won’t fit over her head or over her thighs). Her hat is also somewhat bizarre, I am not sure if she is wearing it correctly or not. She really is gorgeous girl, I don’t think any other actress could really be turned into a pullip (well two pullips let’s not forget Holly of Breakfast at Tiffany’s fame) so effectively. I look forward to taking pictures of the two of them together, they do look somewhat similiar to each other but they are based on the same actress so that is almost to be expected.

Arrival- My Little Candy Blythe

My “My Little Candy” (MLC) blythe arrived today. MLC is a top shop limited blythe, I had loved her since she was first announced but never thought I would be able to own her because she is so limited and blythes in general are a bit harder to get a hold of than pullips. She had become my grail blythe that I never thought I would be able to get my hands on but somehow I lucked into her.
DSC03287
I think what attracted me to her was that she reminded me of the pullip release Papin. She is my first limited blythe (well stock limited- London is a PCM but is nowhere near stock). I have decided to name her Pixie Stix because she is such a sugary little vixen. She is the perfect blythe to me. I love her coloring and I love her special chips. I love the purple streaks in her pink hair, I think she might be the only blythe with streaked hair like this. The best part is she is even my favorite mold RBL. It was like she was made specifically to my tastes.
DSC03292 DSC03294
As much as I love her I fear she may be my last blythe for a long while. While I enjoy owning blythe I don’t have as much fun photographing them as I do my other dolls so I don’t see the need for a large selection of them. Even the standard edition blythes are becoming a pain to get a hold of and I just seem to have a harder time bonding with them (I have rehomed about 1/3 of my collection due to bonding issues).

Arrival- Pullip Sola LE300 Japan Exclusive

My recently purchased pullip Sola arrived today from Korea (she is Japan exclusive, I have no idea how she ended up in Korea O_o). Sola was the last of the three limited pullips released over this past summer as well as the last one I needed to complete my set of the three limited edition pullips.

DSC03304
I am very happy with her. As mentioned in my previous post announcing her purchase her name is Calamity. She has pale hair with a hint of a yellow undertone, perfect pink lips and pale blue eyes. I find myself torn between the three different releases unable to choose a favorite they each have their strong points and their weak points (I like Lala’s wig best, Sola’s lips best and Sala’s eyes best) they are all so similiar but they do still have their differences. I am glad I was finally able to get her for a somewhat reasonable price.

I plan to post up comparative pictures of the three of them in the next few days so be patient.

Purchase- Princess Ann Pullip

In addition to free shipping this month, Pullipstyle always offers price match. Their price match policy is pretty nice they will match any price of a doll currently in stock on any US based store or US based ebay store. After noticing that Hobby Search actually had Princess Ann and Robin Version Ciel on clearance, I did the math out and because of the conversion rate it didn’t really work out to be that much cheaper. I decided to look elsewhere and noticed that the The Valley of the Dolls had Princess Ann for slightly cheaper than Pullipstyle, so I sent an inquiry to Pullipstyle before going to bed at around four in the morning. I got an email back from them around eight this morning, they had dropped the price but they only had one left in stock so I had better order fast.

I am not quite sure what Jun Planning/Groove Inc’s obsession is with Audrey Hepburn, true her proportions do suit pullip nicely but of all the American actresses out there you wouldn’t think they would release two of the same person (albeit of her in two different roles). Jun Planning previously released Holly, a doll based on Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal of the character in the Breakfast at Tiffany’s film way back in 2006. Although a gorgeous doll I always got the impression she was not all that popular. When Princess Ann was first announced I made a little side by side comparison of the two’s promotional head shots.

Princess Ann was the last pullip I needed to get caught up on (until Peter Pan is released anyway) to have a complete collection again. I need to start working on getting caught up on the dal releases now.

Announced- January Pullip Releases- Vampire Set

Groove Inc has officially announced the vampire set for January release. Apparently the three of them all have removable fangs (they appear to be stickers).

Pullip- Elisabeth (possibly reference to Countess Elizabeth Báthory)
Elisabeth- january release

Elisabeth- january release
A lot of people have complained about her hair color but I personally think it compliments her nicely. I am also a big fan of her stock. She is my favorite of the three announced releases.

Taeyang- Nosferatu
Nosfaruto
Nosfaruto
Vaguely reminds me of Caslevania’s Alucard. Probably not going to buy him personally.

Dal- Ende
Ende
Ende
Her stock looks kind of over-sized for her. I am somewhat excited about her otherwise.

Purchase- Pullip Sola LE300 Japan Exclusive

Early summer Groove Inc. announced three limited pullips, Lala, Sala and Sola. All three pullips had a very similiar design but their were differences in coloration (make up, eye chips and wig), all three were limited to 300 each and were exclusive to different areas (US, Hong Kong and Japan). Lala was the first announced/released she was a San Diego Comic-con exclusive. Sala was the second announced/released and was a Hong Kong exclusive. Sola was the last announced/released and she was a Japanese exclusive.
null
I was lucky enough to somehow acquire two of the San Diego Comic-con exclusive Lala (Collision and Concussion). Last month, I finally purchased Sala (the Hong Kong exclusive) after noticing her soaring prices on ebay and not wanting to pay anymore than I had to for her. I ended up naming her Contraband as she was purchased during a no-buying period. I spotted a semi-reasonably priced Sola on ebay earlier in the week that was up for auction, I had almost forgot all about the auction but I happened to check ebay and there was only five minutes to go. I decided to bid on her and actually won. She will probably be here on Saturday or Monday of next week. Keeping with my naming theme for the other three releases, I have decided her name shall be Calamity.

Arrival- Papermoonpixie custom elf Hollow Bastion

I was recently contacted by Papermoonpixie as I had attained her very first custom and she wanted to give her a fresh face so to speak, so I sent off Malice and I took the opportunity to ask her to customize one of my other dolls for me. I asked her to make me an orange themed elf as I love her series of monotone elves and I love the color orange (I even drive an Orange Chevy Cobalt). I wasn’t quite sure what I would be doing with her and didn’t have her wig/eye chips lined up just yet so I ended up borrowing an eye mechanism from one doll (Azazel) and a wig from another (Button/Ivy) but I ended up loving the combination so now I might end up rewigging Ivy and buying another set of cat eyes. It being close to Halloween and all I decided to dress her up as a witch.

DSC03190
I hadn’t even planned a name out for her before her arrival, as I was photographing her yesterday the idea of naming her Hollow occurred to me. After further reflection I decided to name her Hollow Bastion after the world in Kingdom Hearts.

Arrival- Puki Dal

As I mentioned in this entry Pullipstyle is currently having a free shipping special (continental US only) and I took advantage of the sale and purchased Puki. I purchased her on Friday and she is here already (yay for fast/free shipping). I think I may take further advantage of the sale soon…

Of all the dolls currently in stock that I didn’t own, I chose Puki because she is just do adorable and well she would go wonderfully with my Alice in Wonderland themed dolls. Of all the dolls I missed due to my over fascination with dollfie dreams, Puki was the one I had regretted not getting the most.
DSC03151
I haven’t decided on a name for her just yet, I am kind of running out of names at this point.

Arrival- X/1999 Hinoto Custom Pullip by Requiemart

I actually had several new doll arrivals today but I am kind of taking my time opening them up. The first one I opened today was Hinoto, the custom pullip based on the X/1999 character by Requiemart. She has always been one of my favorite Requiemart customs so when I seen her pop up for sale, I just couldn’t pass her up.

DSC03117
I have always been a huge fan of Clamp’s artwork and Requiemart really captured the essence of Hinoto. She even has hand painted custom eyes to really make her eyes have that special sparkle that Hinoto’s did in the anime. Her third eye was even delicately replicated.
