It seems I have been buying more and more comics toys lately. I went to Wonderland Comics annual spring cleaning sale (buy one get one free on just about everything) with the understanding that anything I get would be tucked away until my birthday. I ended up getting two of the older Ame-Comi figures: Catwoman and Zatanna among other things. The next day, on the way back from Ikea (had to exchange a broken detolf) Ikea I stopped at Alternate Universe and found Batgirl which I hadn’t seen anywhere in months so I decided to get her too.

I was really curious how these two would measure up against each other; I like both figures but neither ones is perfect to me.

Of course, patience never really was my strong suit so I ended up opening up the other two Ame-comi figures as well (and breaking Zatanna’s wand as well apparently).

DC Direct really does seem to be trying with their Ame-comi line and a lot of their concepts are pretty interesting unfortunately the execution could use some work. Their faces are kind of lack something, in a way they remind me of older Kotobukiya figures which always seem to suffer from the same affliction.

A spark of personality just seems to be missing, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like the Ame-comi figures though. I think I have spoke about likes once before and how they can be relative, I like Ame-comi figures as a $40 figure I don’t think I would pay much more for one though. For American figures they are pretty awesome unfortunately I am/was an anime figure collector so my expectations are a bit higher.

I am planning on getting at least one more Ame-comi figure, I have Duela Dent preordered through BBTS and I would eventually like to get Huntress as well as the second version of the Batgirl figure (Cassandra Cain version).

OH! I didn’t realize Shunya actually based his bishoujo figure on a real Cat Woman design until just now.
Catwoman has had a number of different costumes over the years, the one the Shunya figure is the most recent one she is seen in Gotham City Sirens and most other mainline continuity.
