Today was supposed to be my first day back at work, but somehow that didn’t happen ^^; I had a bit of a cooking mishap (re- I ended up playing fire fighter with dinner again) last night so I ended up calling in sick, I will definitely be going into work tomorrow though. Seeing how I managed to get the day off, I thought today might be a good day to photograph the December pullips and get started on writing the articles about them for Ningyou. Speaking of Ningyou the first issue should be getting to me fairly soon. I packed up the pullips and a couple of random figures and got dropped off at one of my normal photo locations not taking into account that it was 14 degrees outside today before windchill, never doing that one again.

After accessing just how cold it was, I decided to start with photographing the two figures I brought along Kino of Kino’s Journey by Good Smile Company and Xecty Ein of Shining Wind by Kotobukiya. I ended up not even photographing the pullips today as after I had climbed around photographing Kino and Xecty, it was just too damn cold.

When I was choosing which figures to bring, I tried to think about the setting and that everything is looking a bit drab at the moment so I thought Kino might make an interesting subject. I ended up liking her photos so much I ended up choosing one of her’s as picture of the day even though I had taken a photo earlier for this purpose. I never watched much Kino’s Journey what I did see, I somehow just never got back around to watching it now I am kind of wanting to dig out the thinpak of the series now and blitz it all. The androgyny of Kino always made her a bit more interesting to me. it just seemed to add something to the character.
Where do I buy Pullip?

A fire again? My dear Hina I’m starting to worry about losing you to an inferno more and more with each casual fire incident you mention. Also I have Kino too, I love her to bits, she was one of my first figures. I notice you took pictures just above the little stand for her smoke 🙂 I think it really makes her look a lot better too. I actually probably damaged mine beyond being valuable, but I try not to dwell on it too much and just appreciate having her. I glued the smoke into her gun so I don’t need the little stand, I regret it but, I’m still happy to have her.
Technically it was not the fire that was the bad part, the pot of boiling water that ended up getting dumped in the process was what burnt me ^^;. I remember you saying something about having to glue it previously, that is kind of unfortunate but unless you are planning to sell then it shouldn’t really matter that much. The choice to photograph above the smoke stand was more of an effort to keep the stand proper out of the shot, I try and cut stands out of shots as much as possible.
I think this is one figure I can safely say I won’t sell. Even if someday I have to cut back and only own a few shelves of figures, this would be one of the ones I keep.
I’m more tolerant of stands showing nowadays then I was in the beginning.
I have gone through some questioning periods myself of whether or not to rid myself of a good chunk of my collection, but I have to say Kino was never in my possibly to sell pile.
The stands showing in pictures is distracting to me, I especially can’t stand it in doll photos. Ironically I used to hate it when doll joints showed in photos but now I actually kind of like it when they do.
