Pullip- Lala- Comic-con Exclusive

I am supposed to be sleeping now.. oh well.

Lala was an exclusive at this year’s Comic-con, she is limited to 300 and was the first American convention exclusive. I was unable to attend Comic-con this year, I haven’t actually attended in several years (2004 or 2005 can’t even remember these days) mostly because I haven’t been traveling as much (I used to spend at least a month in California every year) and because I am not the biggest fan of conventions in general ^^; (I am a bit weary of crowds). A friend I knew from the toyslogic forum, Kiyashi (who just recently started DD as well) did actually attend this year and he was able to acquire me a Lala (despite his dislike of pullips). I am very thankful to Kiyashi that he was able to track her down for me, thank you for all your hard effort if you are reading this.

There were also two postcards in the packages one an advertisement for VOTD featuring Slogfia and the other featuring Savon, which I think is absolutely adorable. I added the one featuring Savon to my needs to be framed pile.

She is gorgeous. She reminds me of beloved older releases like Fantastic Alice or Panda. A lot of people consider 2004/2005 to be the renascence era of pullip as there were many beautiful unique releases those two years as compared to the plain dolls of newer years and I personally feel Lala holds her own against virtually any of them.

I am so happy to finally have her 😀

Kotobukiya- Tamaki Figure

I just realized this is my first figure of Tamaki, I only have around ten To Heart 2 figures and most of those are of Lucy (love her). I love To Heart 2’s character designs but at the same time I try to keep my overall number of them down a tad so I try to be picky about which ones I get. I do have two other figures of Tamaki preordered but they won’t be out until later this year.

As is the case with many Kotobukiya figures her body is gorgeous but her face seems lacking in a few of the finer details. She’s still a nice figure, I just wish her face was little more refined.

Good Smile Company-Rider Figure

The acquisition of this figure is kind of bittersweet to me, as I had previously owned it. I remember I had it preordered on HLJ when it very first came out but the original suffered a horrible fate. As much as I wanted to replace it I couldn’t bring myself to pay the outrageous prices that it was going for on ebay at the time so I kind of put on the back burner for a while.

It was glorious to see her again, although honestly I think absence may have made the heart grow a little bit fonder over the years. Figure production and quality has changed a lot over the past five years though, while she is still my favorite Rider figure she doesn’t seem to live up to my own memories. I don’t regret replacing her though as she is still pretty damn awesome.

GSC Rider, Kotobukiya- Shana and Tamaki

I got two packages from Yahoo Japan today (well my buying service sent me two packages as I can’t directly get stuff off of Yahoo Japan >_< ) including my replacement Fate Stay/ Night- Rider Figure by Good Smile Company, a Shakugan no Shana- Shana figure by Kotobukiya and a To Heart 2- Tamaki figure by Kotobukiya.

Not a bad little haul for about $140 after fees, etc.

Dalicious- Round 2

Okay I lied, one more post about dolls and that will be it for a while. I have entered in the 2nd dalicious photo contest on dolly market details here . I just recently became a moderator on dolly market and was chatting with site admin when she asked if I would be entering this round, I had really thought of it up until that point but since she had actually asked I agreed to enter Dalvam, the custom dal pirate by Requiemart.

I had previously entered in the first round and succeeded in setting my contestant, Taffy on fire. It will be interesting to see how I do this year although I know I will probably not fair very well against this type of competition.

A rozen maiden at the rose garden: Volks Hinaichigo bjd, anyone up for a meet?

This will be my last doll post for a while, I didn’t mean to overload everyone with endless prattling on about dolls. I have some lovely figures due in the mail any day now plus I deboxed about 20 figures today that I need to shoot…

I took my beloved Volks Hina Ichigo out for a shoot at the rose garden today. I have used this location in the past most notably to photograph my Wonderland crew and my Rozen Maiden pullip set. I have always been partial to it as it is gorgeous, extremely close to my apartment and is fairly secluded.

I feel complete now that I have her, after wanting her so long.

I also took along Marie, my little fee Ante as they are roughly the same size- Hina is just a smidge taller and a bit wider. I am actually contemplating a second little fee now, I would not get a full set like I did with Ante but a blank one nude/bald so I can have her turned into a Kanaria.

Open call for a doll meet-
I am thinking about having a doll meet at this rose garden (Mohegan rose garden) here in CT (it’s maybe 15 minutes from Mohegan Sun, 30 minutes from Foxwoods- they are a landmark everyone seems to know so I used them) on either 8/23 or 8/30 at approximately 1 in the afternoon. Basically any type of doll would be welcome and I will personally be bringing bjd/blythe/pullip/dal with me. I live a very short distance away so if anyone wanted to see my doll collection in person after the meet, that would probably be possible as well.

My doll collection

I think I have a fairly large doll collection or at least a fairly substantial one. I keep the grand majority of them housed in my computer nook, my computer nook is a small room off of the living room that is roughly the size of a prison cell. Please note that this is not the entirety of my doll collection as I have roughly half a dozen dolls out on loan/ at the customizers as we speak.

I have almost all of the released pullips/dals (I fell behind on the newest releases because of DDs ^^;) so they make up most of my collection..

Raison d'etre – Grail Get

I received a surprise in the mail today.. my grail doll that I have been wanting for over two years, my namesake in most doll communities (here too actually) the doll I had given up hope on ever getting Hina Ichigo. Rozen Maiden will always have a special place in heart, I had actually left the hobby about three years ago. Someone showed me Rozen Maiden and it started a renaissance, it reignited my love of anime. I absolutely fell in love with Hina Ichigo, something about her character always made me smile. It also led to the discovery of pullips and it all went downhill from there..

She arrived this morning which completely caught me off-guard as I had failed to raise the necessary funds before the one I was watching on Yahoo Japan auction’s ended. Even after I sold a couple of my pullips and one of my other bjds I fell short of my goal. This isn’t the one I had been watching on Yahoo Japan, apparently my partner in crime noting my angst over not getting Hina and wishing to no longer hear anymore on the subject started emailing some doll shops I had previously used in my great quest to collect all pullips until he found one that had a Volks Hina and immediately purchased her.

I was allowed a quick peek before she was whisked away, I wasn’t allowed to actually open her until all of my other dolls were put away. My dolls haven’t all been put away since around January, I had spent a good chunk of the weekend working on actually getting everything straightened out but I still had a whole bunch of work to do which needless to say I got done in record time.

After all my hard work and two years of waiting I finally had Hina in my hands and it was glorious. She is everything I had hoped for and desired. I had thought her size was detract from my love of her but quite the opposite I love her even more because she is a Yo-SD. I am so deliriously happy right now.

I just realized I haven’t checked my email since like Friday, perhaps I should take this opportunity to catch up on it ^^;

Even my dolls are otaku..

I spent most of yesterday painfully rebuilding the pullip display, it is my fervent hope and desire to be done by tomorrow. I have resigned myself for the most part to having to cram as many per shelf as possible for the main display but I am using two of the smaller shelves for displays. Consider these teaser pics for Monday’s post where I will share photos of my entire pullip display. Blu’s (Cinnamoroll the 2nd) room is one of the one of the rooms that was refined and rebuilt.. Blu is my resident dal otaku, her favorite show is Evangelion obviously (mostly because I had tons of tiny Evangelion stuff). Her room shows off her varied taste in anime everything from Rozen Maiden to Evangelion.

Here’s the full view of the room which looks suspiciously like my own room way back in high school (just realized that was almost ten years ago now ^^; ).

Right side of the room- The posters are all stickers, stationary (both Sanrio items) or the little piece of paper with a picture of what the wall scroll is that comes included with wall scrolls.

Left side of the room- The chair Blu is sitting on is actually from an anime figure ( http://myfigurecollection.net/figure/760_shiratori_amane ) because the little touches mean so much. Her display case contains a mixture of Lucky Star, Shuffle and Evangelion gashapon/key chains.

Close up of the computer enclosure- Blu even has miniature Seele 01 and 02 Sound Only speakers for her computer (which I am in fact very envious of). She has various small figures around her computer.

Lucky Star 1/4 scale get

So I just get out of the shower when the doorbell rings, I was on the 5th floor so it was absolute mad dash to get dressed in time to answer the door for the unexpected postman. He came bearing two gifts, the first being 1/4 scale Lucky Star Konata figure by Freeing.

I want to start off by saying I don’t think she is actually true 1/4 scale, if she was she would be significantly smaller than my other 1/4 scale figures and that is not the case. I even took some pictures of her compared to some of my other 1/4 scales to illustrate her impressive size.

Suzumiya was of course very helpful with deboxing Konata…

She is a cutie pie. I am very glad I preordered although now I have the dilemma as to where exactly I will be putting her as she is quite a bit larger than I was anticipating ^^;

and for those curious about that sort of thing she is cast off to an extent.

I theorize that there will be outfit sets of the school uniform for like 2500 yen. I can’t think of any other reason why she would be cast off friendly but the Kodomo no Jikan is not.
