In addition to the very exciting news that Pullipstyle had opened up preorders for their new exclusive Pullip Amelia that was designed by Requiemart and myself there was another very interesting tidbit of Pullip news that came out yesterday: there will be an SDCC exclusive this year! JPGroove skipped SDCC last year so it seemed to kind of be in doubt whether or not there would be another SDCC exclusive until they made this announcement via their facebook page yesterday….
So what information do we really have other than there will be an exclusive? Not much other than JPGroove will be offering preorders for those not attending the con, it is unknown at this time if Pullipstyle will be able to offer it.
Before we start speculating on what the exclusive(s) could be, let’s look at past SDCC exclusives…
2009 Pullip Lala
Pullip Lala was the first SDCC exclusive Pullip, she was a cute but simple doll that was priced very reasonably at only $60. Two color variants of Pullip Lala were eventually released, Pullip Sola was a Wonder Festival exclusive and Pullip Sala was exclusive to other areas of Asia (I want to say there was a specific event that she was exclusive to but I can’t recall what event at the moment ^^; ).
2010 Byul Lilith
Byul Lilith was released at SDCC 2010. Byul Lilith was the final member of the vampire series to be released the vampire set also included Pullip Elisabeth, Dal Ende and Taeyang Nosferatu. Byul Lilith is one of the most popular and sought after Byul releases it was also the first time that the SDCC exclusive was a doll from the line other than Pullip. Lilith was priced at $100.
2011 Pullips Batgirl & Catwoman
This year was kind of a remarkable one for Pullip as it was the first time that we received two SDCC exclusives as well as the first year that Groove collaborated with DC comics to bring us their characters in Pullip form. Batgirl and Catwoman were priced at $125 each. Recolored versions of both dolls were released at Wonder Festival that year.
2012 Batman & Wonder Woman
Groove partnered with DC comics again to bring us Taeyang Batman and Pullip Wonder Woman at SDCC 2012. Later in 2012, the one and only NYCC exclusive doll Pullip Harley Quinn was released.
2013 Pullip Supergirl
Pullip Supergirl was the only SDCC exclusive doll of 2013 and the last DC collaboration doll to be released to date.
2014 Pullip Super Stella & Dal Vendettina
Groove had collaborated with Tokidoki previously but never before SDCC dolls. Pullip Super Stella and Dal Vendettina were Tokidoki themed superheroes. They were priced at $130 each.
JPGroove did not attend SDCC last year, I thought that might mean an end to SDCC exclusives and it looks like I was wrong but I am extremely happy about that. I wonder what the exclusive will be this year? Will it be an original release or collaboration? If it is a collaboration will it be with either DC or Tokidoki like we have seen before or maybe with a new company? If it was another DC collaboration maybe it will be an Isul Robin to go with Batman from years ago or maybe a Pullip Poison Ivy. A Tokidoki Moofia themed Pullip would surely be the most hilarious thing ever, I mean a cow themed superhero would be amazing!
I hadn’t realized Lilith was a ComicCon doll; no wonder she’s so hard to find! (Darn it…she’s been #1 on my Byul wish list ever since I saw a picture of her…)
I’m rooting for a Pullip Poison Ivy. I’ve been thinking for a long time they need to do one.
