Here Kitty, kitty

Another Pullip post… I didn’t mean to do another so soon but I finally photographed my Moon today so I figured I would devote today’s post to her. Moon was one of the first three pullip that were simultaneously released just about five years ago. She represents a unique challenge because of her stock it is virtually impossible to find one unstained. She is also the most popular/expensive of the original releases as Wind and Street sell for around $100 and Moon normally sells for closer to $400 with Magma Heritage wanting an astonishing $600 for one with a dented box. Well mine came virtually unstained (there is some very light staining on her chest but unless I am photographing her nude it is noticeable) and I only paid $15 with shipping including for mine. Granted the ebay auction ended much higher than that but I had accumulated a great number of ebay bucks through other purchases that my out of pocket expenses were only $15 making her my cheapest pullip.

Now unto what I think about her…. being one of the first pullips she has a minimal face up which I really like. Her eyechips and hair color are lovely, her scalp/wig consistancy is a bit wild but not as bad as I was led to believe by other Moon owners. I actually really like her but I can’t keep her in her stock until I stain proof it and I am having a hard time finding something that looks good on her to substitute for her stock until I can stain proof it for her. Additionally she is a type 1 pullip so she has very large feet that are well nigh impossible to find shoes that actually fit her. So as much as I like her she kind of frustrates me.

Checkmate

Clamp is probably my favorite manga creators so I was estatic that when they announced the Clamp no Kiseki line of art books that would come with chess pieces for you to collect. There was a serious delay with the American releases and I didn’t pick them all up even after they started releasing them again. I had kind of given up on having a full set but as luck would have it I recieved this lovely gift in the mail today via ems.

Cardcaptor Sakura- Sakura (Queen)
Cardcaptor Sakura- Tomoyo (Queen-alternate)
Miyuki-chan in Wonderland- Miyuki (Bishop)

Tokyo Babylon- Subaru (Bishop-alternate)
Chobits- Chii (Rook)
Clamp School Detectives-Akira (Knight)
Magic Knight Rayearth- Hikuru (Knight)
Angelic Layer-Misaki (Rook)
Cardcaptor Sakura-Kero (King-alternate)
Tsubasa- Mokona-Modoki (pawn x 8 )

Dark Side (from right to left)

X-Fuuma (King-alternate)
RG Veda- Ashura (Rook)
Tsubasa- Fay (Bishop)
XXXHolic- Watanuki (Bishop)
Tokyo Babylon- Sakurazuka (Bishop-alternate)
Clamp School Detectives- Nokoru (Knight)
XXXHolic- Yuuko (Queen)
Clover-Suu (Rook)
Cardcaptor Sakura- Spinnel (King-alternate)
XXXHolic- Mokona-Modoki (Pawn x 8 )
Fear my leet Clamp knowledge as I just did all that from memory.

Spinnel and Kero were mail away figures that you had to send in coupons from all the previous releases to put in a lottery for the right to buy them. I have actually seen just Kero and Spinnel go for about $100 keep in mind the pieces are only about 1 1/2- 2 inches tall each.

They are actually quite detailed for what they are. Some were done a little better than others and some of the pieces left me baffled as to why they wanted to devote a piece to that character when there others possibly more deserving of being made into a chess piece. The duplicate pieces also leave me a bit bemused as well what the hell am I going to do with three bishops?

A samurai girl with a strange hat

Sengoku Lance 1/8 Kenshin Uesugi Kotobukiya Figure

Kenshin Uesugi arrived yesterday I almost didn’t order her but after seeing her I am glad I did. Why was I hesitant? Kotobukiya’s quality for me has always been kind of hit or miss for me either their figures are exquisite or they are kind of bland and lacking some essential quality I can’t quite put my finger on. Also there was the ever growing concern of cost/space but a Toyslogic giftcard arrived just in time to put an order in for her. Another stubbling block was of course I hadn’t a clue as to what she was from, after some research I wasn’t really surprised that she was from a dating sim..

She is quite lovely in person. The attention to detail Kotobukiya put into her was very nice, her hair was particularly stunning. Her skirt was massive and esquisitely detailed. I do not regret my decision to preorder her in the slightest. I highly reccomend this figure if you can find it.

Oddly enough from what I understand TL did not get enough of this figure to meet the preorder demands but I guess I lucked out as mine actually came in.
