I am admittedly not the biggest Marvel fangirl (I ❤ Joker and since Joker is a DC character, I’m a DC girl) but I do love Black Cat. Even though I am not normally a fan of Shunya Yamashita’s artwork I could not deny this girl’s charm so I preordered the figure and recently received it along with Catwoman from BBTS.

I also received and subsequently photographed the corresponding Catwoman figure from the same line.

Despite the fact that I am admittedly a DC fangirl, I will admit if I could have only got one of these two figures I would without hesitation pick Black Cat.

I love the pose and the sense of movement in the Black Cat figure, it looks very fluid.

I’m also a big fan of how Black Cat’s body is portrayed it looks fairly athletic and not as exaggerated as in some of the other figures. The sculpt in general on this figure is very nice.

Mine’s base broke pretty quickly, I was kind of disappointed I had been very careful when transporting it and took it apart but part of the foot peg managed to snap while I was holding her up on the stand. I actually liked the stand to so it was doubly disappointing.

I think I just managed to get so excited about the cuteness of the Black Cat figure that Catwoman ended up disappointing me a bit ^^;

Catwoman is a lot more overtly sexual, her pose isn’t as fun for me as the Black Cat figure. Her whip is also a bit problematic as I was not able to work all of the kinds out of it ^^;

Both of the figures are really nice, but somehow I just can’t seem to warm to Catwoman’s face sculpt especially like I did Black Cat. I think the root of the problem is that I really don’t care for a grand majority of Shunya Yamashita’s work, I love the way he draws the female form but there is always something I don’t quite like about the faces. The masks on Batgirl and Black Cat make their faces a bit more obscure and they are not so overtly Yamashita’s work like Catwoman is.
