I don’t preorder many anime figures these days but the Evangelion ballerina figures of Rei and Asuka brought me out of preordering hiatus. The figures are based on an illustration from Carmine an art book by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.

I actually used to do ballet for six years myself, so I have to admit a bit of a weakness towards ballerina figures.


Rei was the first announced last week. She is 1/7, priced at ¥7140 and due out in January of next year.

Rei is both delicate and elegant, honestly though if it was just her that was announced I would probably be safe but they had to go and make a matching Asuka which spelled doom for your humble narrator.

I have to admit Kotobukiya figures have a habit of looking a bit dead in the face to me, there is just some basic lively quality they seem to lack but Rei’s expression seems spot on.

Asuka got announced yesterday and she was the lynch pin for my preordering the set. She is 1/7, priced at ¥7140 and due out in February of next year.

Asuka is one of my all-time favorite anime characters so I have a hard time resisting figures of her in general, especially when they are this adorable.

She looks rather nicely detailed,I love all details in the ruffling. The pigtails are killing me ^^;
