I’m glad I passed on the Uplark version of Rei in the Evangelion entry plug, I had really wanted to preorder it but ended up passing on it. I seen it in person at Animadness and although the entry plug itself was great looking the Rei figure left a lot to be desired, to be honest despite the fact the Uplark figure is much more expensive I think I am a lot happier with my Sega Prize figure than I would have been with the Uplark.

I chose her as the picture of the day for Thursday as my American Blu-ray copy of Evangelion 1.11 You Are Not Alone arrived via Amazon. I already have the Limited Japanese Pressing of Evangelion 1.0 as well as the Japanese Blu-ray but I felt I needed the option to listen to the dub. Over ten years ago, I decided I had enough of horrendous dubs and decided to only watch subtitled anime from that point on Evangelion is one of the few exceptions where I will actually watch it dubbed. It’s not that Evangelion’s dub is great Shinji’s voice makes me want to bang my head into a wall repeatedly so I honestly think it is more of a nostalgia thing for me which speaks volumes as I won’t even watch the bastardized dub of my beloved Sailor Moon anymore, at least not without a lot of liquor first.

I’m the same, 10 years ago I stopped watching dubs. I couldn’t take all the edits and the voice acting any more.
