I spent a good part of today reading comics that I had been accumulating in my pull box so I find myself in a bit of comics mood, so I decided to post about one of my newer comic figures that I photographed recently..

This Harley Quinn figure is based off of her appearance in the Arkham City  video game, it  is made by Mattel and is a part of the Batman Legacies line. There is actually a DC Direct figure of Arkham City Harley Quinn as well which I got for Christmas but have neglected to photograph.

Mad Love Joker & Harley Quinn Figures

After taking a little bit of a break from comic reading while I was focusing on reading and then rereading the A Song of Fire and Ice book series (which coincidentally is becoming a comic book as well in the not to distant future) I caught up over this past weekend. I finally read through the end of Gotham City Sirens (a bit disappointing) as well as Batman and all of the Arkham City comic, I also read through a whole stack of new trade paperbacks including the new Red Hood book among other things.
How did I spend my Sunday afternoon?...
What resparked my interest? well other than the release of Catwoman and Batgirl Pullips while hunting down the later Monster High doll release I happened to go over to the action figure aisle and notice a new Matty Collector box set of figures featuring Joker and Harley Quinn. I was completely blindsided, I missed whatever announcement there was about these being released I absolutely love Joker and Harley Quinn, hell Mad Love is one of my all-time favorite comics so I immediately pounced on them. They had two sets, I would have bought both (one to keep in the box, one to take out) but one of the Harley Quinns had a major paint issue if I notice the set at my local TRU I am definitely picking up another set.

I kind of wish Harley Quinn’s joints were a bit more forgiving so I could have copied the pose on the cover of Mad Love more effectively.

170/365- Requiemart Custom Pullip Duela Dent

As I mentioned in a previous entry on the way up to the Animadness meet, I stopped at Requiemart‘s to pick up a custom Pullip. The custom Pullip was of course the delightfully demented Duela Dent.
Duela
The custom Duela Dent Pullip is based off of a relatively obscure DC comic book character, she is very stylized interpretation of the character. The short form of her back story is something like this- Duela Dent is from another world (Earth-3)  within the DC multi-verse where everything is opposite of the normal DC Universe- a heroic Jokester (Joker) fights the evil Owlman (Batman) as well as other members of the crime syndicate Ultraman, Superwoman etc. Duela is actually the daughter of the heroic Jokester (as well as the female good guy er.. girl version of Two-Face). Unfortunately for Duela, her consciousness unknowingly shifts from Earth-3 and mainline continuity, two worlds that are as different as night and day as a result of the stress of constantly changing worlds and basically not knowing which end is up anymore she becomes a bit unhinged (before she is eventually killed ^^;).

136/365- Pop! Heroes revisited

I’ve featured some of my Pop! Superheroes before but since then my little army of them has grown so I decided to feature them again. After playing with them last time, I ended up going back and ordering Robin, Penguin and Batgirl.I have no plans to get anymore from the second series but I do have Two-Face preordered from the third series.

I love how absurdly adorable Funko has managed to make all these characters. I’m also super happy about their price point- I think the most I have paid for one so far was $10. The paint quality on them could be a little better but that is my only complaint.

I decided to feature my Pullip Harley Quinn as my photo of the day this past Saturday in celebration of Free Comic Day, which I apparently forgot all about this year until it was too damn late in the day to go out :( . Yep, I looked forward to it for months just to forget about it >_<
127/365- Harley Quinn
I’m a huge fan of both Joker and Harley Quinn, since I also have a great love of pullips  had been toying with the idea of Joker and Harley Quinn dolls for a while. Last year for my birthday, I commissioned Requiemart to make me a Harley Quinn pullip.  Harley Quinn is a custom Pullip Squall, she was previously customized before and had a lot of preexisting damage so it seemed the perfect way to give the doll new life.

124/365- BBTS order Arrival (Batman toys, etc)

Bigbadtoystore has a pile of loot function that lets you combine/hold orders since I tend to buy lots of small items and I don’t like paying more for shipping than for the item itself, it’s actually quite useful. I recently asked for my loot items to ship and they arrived a little earlier in the week.

Anime Boston Con Report and 112/365

Requiemart and I attended Anime Boston yesterday, unlike last year where we both attended but only sort of. Last year we both helped out at different booths (she was at Animadness and I was at Toyslogic ) so we didn’t really get to do a whole hell of a lot else. This year attendance at Anime Boston was strictly for fun or maybe a bit of sport.

These were two of my favorite cosplayers, I mean I love Joker but this guy was really selling it haha and Poison Ivy’s lukewarm reception of him was perfect.

110/365- Duela Dent Ame-Comi Figure

I’m skipping ahead temporarily as I want to cover my new Duela Dent Ame-Comi figure sooner rather later. Duela Dent is somewhat of a lesser known DC Comics character, she claims to be the child of several different super villains including Two-Face, Riddler, and of course the Joker. Eventually it is revealed that she is in fact the Joker’s daughter but not mainline continuity Joker. The Joker that is her father is actually from a different world, he is actually a hero named Jokester (a female hero Two-Face from the same world is her mother ).

One of her appearances was in Countdown to Final Crisis, her appearance was brief but it left an impact; coincidentally that is where I know her from.

102/365- Justice League Joker Figure

This Joker figure has been on my wishlist for quite a while, unfortunately it is normally pretty hard to come by. The figure was part of the Justice League line of figures based off of the artwork of Alex Ross. It has been admittedly out for a few years now but most other Joker figures from the same time period are not fetching $60-$100 that this one commands.

I happened to get lucky on ebay with mine, I bid on an auction that was ending in an hour that had no bids on it in the $25 range and fully expected to get sniped, somehow I did not get sniped and got him for a steal haha!
